Frieda grew up in this environment, and so can speak from personal experience about traditions as well as their day to day life. Whilst you can of course walk around South Williamsburg without a guide, you will be extremely limited in what you can learn or see, without someone to provide expertise and show you the best bakeries! I still have so much to learn and would definitely consider doing this tour again. I'd also be interested to learn about the other Hasidic communities in Borough Park and Crown Heights. I was definitely mindful to be respectful of people around me and so didn't want to take unsolicited photos or stare, however it was definitely our tour group that was the novelty, and people in the community were generally happy to see and interact with us. We also took the tour over a Jewish Holiday, so everyone was dressed in their best clothes and Shtreimels. There were also makeshift Sukkahs everywhere. It was great to see, but definitely worth revisiting when it's not a holiday to get a different perspective. I'll be recommending a tour with Frieda to all of my future guests who want to learn more about Hasidic Brooklyn.

She frequently brought us to parks/benches to get off our feet which was thoughtful. Very encouraging of questions. If you're at all interested in learning first hand about the day to day life of the Hasidic community this has to be the best way to do it. The baked goods she got for us along the way were good as well, but I would eat lunch beforehand because its not super filling.

I am so grateful for her planning advise and expertise. All the hotel choices were perfect, and the traveling arrangements made going from place to place very easy. Her restaurants recommendations were spot on as well. Venice was our favorite! And the hotel view room was unbelievable. The Rome hotel was such a nice sanctuary from for our busy days and they gave us an upgrade! The hotel in Ravello was spectacular as well. Traveling any place can be stressful, especially traveling to four different cities in Italy spanning two weeks. But it gave us such peace of mind that everything was taking care of, and that when something was promised, it was delivered. We never felt rushed, or worried, about getting from one place to the next. We truly appreciate all her hard work! She made our honeymoon an unforgettable trip!

I cannot find enough negative words to express my frustration and anger at Arrangements Abroad…read more Shame on me, since I travelled with them before and hated them, but decided to try one more time since my favorite art professor from the Met was supposed to be leading the trip and we love travelling with her and were interested in learning about Byzantium and the Western Mediterranean. However, any way in which Arrangements Abroad could skimp, they did--even limiting the "free" internet usage for an 8 day cruise to about 45 minutes and requiring a fee for all extra time. This was a VERY expensive cruise, although most of the $18,000 per person must have gone into the Arrangements Abroad owner's pocket. While we were on board the Sea Cloud II, which is lovely, the time on shore and visiting sites was reduced to a bare minimum--clearly to save Arrangements Abroad money. We spent at most 3 hours a day on shore, and had all our meals on board--also to save them money. For example, we arrived in Caligari, Sardinia at 8 am, but sat off the harbor until 2:30 pm, obviously to save them docking fees and to avoid the cost of a meal on shore and additional guide time. We finally left the tour after 4 days because we realized that over the following 4 days, we would be be spending a grand total of about 3 1/2 hours on shore. Jim advised that a partial refund or accomodation was out of the question. Even in booking a taxi to make our escape, we were again ripped off--being told by Arrangements Abroad that to get a car, we couldn't pay by credit card but had to pay cash. Arrangements collected 900 euros in cash from us, but we then learned that they paid the car service by credit card--obviously so they could take their cut. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has discontinued Travel with the Met, I have learned, mostly because there were so many complaints about Arrangements Abroad. Run, don't walk, if you have the opportunity to travel with them. How people gave them 5 stars is beyond me; those reviews must have been written by friends and family and none of them is recent.
