We received a comprehensive report on the state of our fireplace with recommendations and quotes for everything that wasn't perfect, but Matt was careful to reassure my husband that our fireplace was in great shape for its age (close to 100!) and all the updates would simply be to get it up to current codes. He gave us all the info we needed but no pressure to buy additional services. During the project, property damage occurred, resulting in delays and additional repair work. Formal invoices were never provided. Despite multiple written requests, the company failed to supply itemized billing, receipts, proof of licensing, or other documentation relevant to the project. Payment demands continued while the account was in active dispute and before requested documentation was produced. Certified mail sent to the business's last known address was returned as undeliverable due to an expired forwarding order, and the company did not provide an updated service address despite repeated requests. Written requests for clarification and documentation were often unanswered or only partially addressed, and the explanations for claimed charges changed over time without supporting records. Based on our documented cost analysis, we have already paid more than the value of work completed. This review is shared to reflect our experience and to encourage others to carefully verify documentation, licensing, and billing practices before hiring.

I spoke with Lance and he scheduled a site visit to inspect my parents house in Knoxville. After site visit, I received a cost estimate for repairing water damage to main bathroom floor and replacing old toilet. We discussed further details and proceeded with ordering the flooring, toilet, and bedit seat. During demolition, his crew noticed subfloor was also damaged (see pics). I was notified right away, they had to purchase subfloor and a change order was submitted. Work was completed within 2 days and my parents were very happy with the finished work. All billing was done electronically, and receipts were autogenerated. We have a few more mini projects in the house and will contact Lance again. 5 starts for Big Bear Construction! Lance and his crew just finished a kitchen addition and remodel project for us, and I cannot say…read moreenough about his integrity, commitment to quality, communication, fair pricing, and flexibility. First of all, Lance stepped in when our original contractor had a medical emergency and could no longer complete the project. Lance was doing the footer work on our project and agreed to pick up where our contractor left off (with the same budget and timeline), and without much time to get to know each other and talk through our plans, I think we all crossed our fingers and hoped it would work out. It did. Beautifully. Lance navigated with ease and grace numerous city permits and inspections and so many supplier issues and architect flubs, including an incorrect measurement that ultimately required us to add a partial bathroom renovation to his contract. He personally checked on every aspect of our project, correcting work when it didn't meet his high standards and making sure his workers and subcontractors met deadlines and his expectations for workmanship. Every time I brought him an idea along the way, Lance was up for it and helped me figure out how we could make it work (much to my husband's chagrin at times!). When we called, Lance always answered, and he stayed in communication with us when we weren't on site, sending texts and pictures of progress daily throughout the almost 5 months of our project. After a few months, I trusted Lance to make decisions in my stead, and that says a lot, considering my Type A personality and specific design sense. He respects old houses and understood my aesthetic vision as well as my desire to preserve original elements of my 1940 cottage wherever possible. The end result speaks for itself. We consider Lance a friend now, but I think my hound dog Sadie misses her friend Lance and his crew most of all. Luckily for her, we have already called him about our next project.

Bought our HVAC unit from them in 2020. We have faithfully subscribed to their bi annual…read moremaintenance program. We even used their vent cleaning services at a hefty premium. They came out to do maintenance on our AC and, in the process, broke a pipe causing a significant leak. The tech then left us with the leak saying he could not fix it. We were left with the leak for two days, which was uncontainable. It has buckled and warped our wood floors in two high traffic areas in our home. When they finally came to repair the broken pipe, they charged us $711. It was 90 degrees and my 88 year old mother is home bound, so we paid. We still have not been contacted to arrange repairs to the flooring, which is a trip hazard, or even an apology for the shitshow they created. I do not recommend using ANY of this company's services. You have been warned. I recommend A-1 Finchum Heating Air. They are honest, affordable and prompt.

The one requirement I had was the new system needed to be quieter inside the home especially downstairs. They removed the old return galvanized steel duct and put in a new larger return that was a soft sided duct. Well between the new York system and the changed return it worked! So much happier cost was fair and competitive and done in less than a day.
