Century Flooring came up first and even though there was only one review at the time, the pictures of the completed floors were as a thousand words! Unbelievably stunning. I called and spoke with Franky Fofiu, owner of the company. He came out the next day and gave me his estimate. I hired him on the spot. Two days later, he and his employee, Albert, showed up and went to work. 8 hours later, a masterpiece had been installed (2 bedrooms). The finished job exceeded our expectations. It was unbelievably gorgeous - perfect in every way. We couldn't be happier. They treated our home as if it were theirs. We can't thank them enough. Anyone we know who is thinking about hardwood installation will get Century Flooring's name and number. I doubt that there would be any who could do a better job. The Wow Factor will be enjoyed for years to come!.

About two weeks after it was installed, we had a huge storm and suddenly our new fence was leaning. It was evident that they didn't use enough cement in the post holes. I called to have them come back and add more cement to the holes, and they've just finished up. Hopefully it will be enough to actually keep the fence upright. When we were having the estimate done, I mentioned that in the particular area where we live, we get a LOT of very strong winds during storms, which was why I chose a shadowbox pattern to allow for airflow. I would've thought that some note of this would be added so they would make sure to build it as sturdy as possible. When I spoke with the crew today, the man just kept blaming it on the wind. No, I paid to have a fence put up that would withstand the wind. Anyway, while I love the fence, I am not happy that it wasn't installed with excellence. One other thing to be aware of is that communication with the company is not great. Whenever I called, usually no one followed up and I had to call back. The crew also will not call or text when on their way, so don't expect that. I am still very happy with the look of the fence and hope that it will be more sturdy now.

I spoke with Lance and he scheduled a site visit to inspect my parents house in Knoxville. After site visit, I received a cost estimate for repairing water damage to main bathroom floor and replacing old toilet. We discussed further details and proceeded with ordering the flooring, toilet, and bedit seat. During demolition, his crew noticed subfloor was also damaged (see pics). I was notified right away, they had to purchase subfloor and a change order was submitted. Work was completed within 2 days and my parents were very happy with the finished work. All billing was done electronically, and receipts were autogenerated. We have a few more mini projects in the house and will contact Lance again. 5 starts for Big Bear Construction! Lance and his crew just finished a kitchen addition and remodel project for us, and I cannot say…read moreenough about his integrity, commitment to quality, communication, fair pricing, and flexibility. First of all, Lance stepped in when our original contractor had a medical emergency and could no longer complete the project. Lance was doing the footer work on our project and agreed to pick up where our contractor left off (with the same budget and timeline), and without much time to get to know each other and talk through our plans, I think we all crossed our fingers and hoped it would work out. It did. Beautifully. Lance navigated with ease and grace numerous city permits and inspections and so many supplier issues and architect flubs, including an incorrect measurement that ultimately required us to add a partial bathroom renovation to his contract. He personally checked on every aspect of our project, correcting work when it didn't meet his high standards and making sure his workers and subcontractors met deadlines and his expectations for workmanship. Every time I brought him an idea along the way, Lance was up for it and helped me figure out how we could make it work (much to my husband's chagrin at times!). When we called, Lance always answered, and he stayed in communication with us when we weren't on site, sending texts and pictures of progress daily throughout the almost 5 months of our project. After a few months, I trusted Lance to make decisions in my stead, and that says a lot, considering my Type A personality and specific design sense. He respects old houses and understood my aesthetic vision as well as my desire to preserve original elements of my 1940 cottage wherever possible. The end result speaks for itself. We consider Lance a friend now, but I think my hound dog Sadie misses her friend Lance and his crew most of all. Luckily for her, we have already called him about our next project.

He was honest about the efforts needed for certain projects and took photos for future project estimates. He completed our three small projects in half the time estimated, which greatly reduced our costs as well. It was affordable and we felt he was trustworthy and very competent. I am highly likely to both recommend Ace Handyman and request Randy for future larger projects. They stay tuned for an update if we have them close off a room for us and redo/tile our master shower.

He was polite and seemed knowledgeable, but it took him over 5 hours to do a 1-hour job, and the result was very poor. He disregarded the printed instructions I provided, cut one of the trim pieces too short, and installed the door closure too high, so that there are screws protruding through the door. As a result, I have had to purchase a new trim piece and pay another installer to correct his work. But the thing that I find most disheartening about the experience is that I contacted Ace before posting this review to give them a chance to make it right, and they have not responded. I will not do business with them again.

They've done all kinds of work on different parts of the house, in and out. They've also helped manage/oversee other types of work (putting in an asphalt drive for example). I had flooding and nothing but problems after that, when another contractor fixed the problem they found long screws used where rivets should be, this caused leaves to snag on the screws inside the gutter, water to back up onto the gutter, flow down the soffit and into my wall causing my wall to swell and be ruined. The contractor handed me the screws as evidence and showed me what had been caught on them. You get what you pay for! Beware.
