Need an attorney? Nah, not that kind of an attorney; the kind of attorney that attends to your house closing and does it in the most professional, buttoned up way. Then look no further than Tom Anselmo at Anselmo, Lindberg and Associates. I've done several house sales in other states and and oftentimes didn't use an attorney. But given Illinois is such a litigious state, it seems the 2nd person after a realtor anyone calls is an attorney. So when in Rome. . . . anyway- you get the picture. Tom and his firm came highly recommended and I can see why. He and his colleague Kathy took great care of me and kept me informed of the process at every step. They were also good to remind me of what needed to be done when, and filled out all those pesky forms and letters that needed to go back and forth to the buyers and their lawyers. Now while my first choice is always just to talk with the buyers directly, as go betweens, they did a great job in suggesting which requests we should move on and which ones probably didn't need to happen (in conjunction with my realtor) and also kept the timeline real so that nothing was missed and the house closed quickly and efficiently. And at the end of the day, the price was reasonable for the services rendered (we are talking about lawyers, you know!) So if you find yourself in need of a Real Estate attorney who puts your needs at the top of his list and makes you feel like a valued client, look no further than Tom Anselmo! read more

After receiving a recommendation from a friend I hired this firm to assist with leasing a retail space in Chicago. They kept me well informed throughout the whole process and were always available to quickly answer any questions I had. What impressed me the most was their overall attention to detail. So I understand that many law firms probably don't get great reviews. Particularly ones that deal with foreclosures and collections. However, I used Freedman, Anselmo and Lindberg's services in a recent commercial real estate transaction. I must say, I was blown away by the service and attention to details the lawyers, Michael and Tom Anselmo put into my lease. I don't want to go into too many details of the transaction but not only did they bascially rewrite the lease that was very landlord friendly into a fair and mutually beneficial lease, but they somehow (still to this day, I don't know how) were able to broker a deal in which the current landlord would pay for some major improvements that we needed that would have cost me tens of thousands of dollars. When FAL came back with our final lease I was in disbelief on how well it turned out for us. I never go on to these review sites but I felt compelled to create a profile on Yelp as I saw they had a couple of bad reviews. I can't imagine how anyone could give them bad reviews. I have heard many stories about incompetent and greedy lawyers. I can tell you that FAL is the furthest thing from that. They were: professional, diligent, knowledgeable, prompt and most importantly, they got us a deal we didn't think was possible. I would highly encourage anyone seeking legal counsel to enlist the services of Freedman, Anselmo and Lindberg. You will not be let down with the end result! read more

We used both Anselmo attorneys (Tom and Michael) to prepare our wills and trusts for our family with two small children. Both Tom and Michael answered all our questions and helped guide us through such sensitive issues as planning for our death, guardians for our children, etc. etc. They were both very patient and helpful. Our paperwork was completed very promptly and they were very cooperative with us to find a time we could come in (with toddlers in tow) to finalize everything. I have been incredibly unimpressed with Tom Anselmo. A large mistake was made on his part during a real estate transaction of a couple that was buying our house. Instead of admitting the mistake and providing a remedy for the couple, he turned that attack on my family to satisfy the already upset couple. After insulting us, writing letters that contradict each other, and engaging in bullying tactics, Anselmo has still not admitted his error. He has allowed innocent people to be abused all because he wants to save face. Lawyers like Anselmo are why the profession is constantly discredited. read more

I agree with this review. I am presently involved with this law firm, thanks to Capital One. Both businesses are bad to me. Even if you are trying to cooperate by attempting to make payments and keep in touch with them they still resort to harsh measures. Capital One sent me right to this place, although I was trying to pay them. They didn't even go first through the normal steps of the collection process. Than after it was with this law firm, I attempted to make a payment arrangement with them to be told they would get back to me as to whether the amount would work. I never got a call back, but instead received mailings from local law firms trying to draw up business based on information they obtained from the local court that I had a judgment against me. I had to call one of these places to find out what was going on. Low and behold, this firm had placed a judgment on me, instead of contacting me back about my payment arrangement. They tagged on another $300 in court costs to boot. I finally entered into a payment arrangement, which I did make one payment, but due to further financial circumstances, I decided to go with a high rated debt management program. At first, the payment was not accepted, but than an agreement was made, since this debt program did business with them before. They received this payment a week before they garnished my bank account. This debt program tried to get out of the garnishment by telling me if they have a court order they can't do anything about it, even though they knew this already. I even tried to get them to take out how much I was paying this law firm since they were a concern to me. So, this firm deducted almost $600 from my account without me knowing it. Than the bank took out another $100 for fines against me. Than I called this firm, and was told that they never received the funds, to contact my bank to withdraw the hold on the funds. The bank said they processed it and they should have it. The last judgment from Discover card against me was for about $8000, which ended in bankruptcy-this is only for $1500. At that time I wasn't in contact as much as I am now due to my previous experience and yet I get this treatment, but to me worse than before. I'm pursuing action against these places. read more
