The park is beautiful and right by the water so it's a great environment for picnics and just a day to relax. The food truck festival was hosted here like every other year. There were a good amount of food trucks this year but none really caught my eye except the Fried Oreo truck. I've never tried a Fried Oreo before. I know, I know. People are going to say how haven't I tried a Fried Oreo before. I don't eat sweet items and really haven't since I've been a child. The first bite of the Fried Oreo was delightful. Crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. It was like an explosion went of in my mouth. I really enjoyed it. My son had Fried Dough as he didn't really see anything that he wanted.

I showed up with my own paddleboard and had a great time exploring the Long Island Sound from Walnut Beach. They also rent bicycles. They have a cute little shop right near the water. I look forward to visiting again and renting a bicycle to explore the nearby parks. Thanks for an awesome community event.

If you are mistreated while using Derby Recreation Center, just know the Wichita area gyms run a TON of hard scams on some customers just cause you are not going to be welcome there...Management of gyms have protected them bad employees for decades in spots just to mistreat some customer. The gyms in this area are used as scam to HARM some unwanted customers. So, if you don't get treated right while visiting a Wichita area gym or Derby, just know you won't be OK using most of the Wichita gyms. Can try to leave wallet in car and keys on you but then cars are hit in parking lots etc. That's why you see so many 300 lb people who are even WORKERS in Wichita area and Derby...This really isn't a healthy place for many.

My daughter was an instructor here and everything was completely last minute, rosters, bus numbers for kids, the first official day June 28th kids were still waiting and staff were still working until after 6:30!!!! All because the two main instructors of this organization Stephanie Leaphart And Barbara Alexander didn't have any of their sh*t together. The whole first week everyday it was almost the same thing not knowing where kids needed to be, making them miss busses, and staff still working later than clock out time.

Road was closed to vehicular traffic, but the walk was nice and gradual, all of it on what seemed to be new macadam. After about 1.6 miles, road forks. To the right is a short walk to Judge's Cave. To the left, a short walk to the scenic overlook. Interesting story commemorated on a plaque on the cave. Very few other people, and almost as many dogs. Scenic overlook kind of blah....no water views, but at an elevation of about 600 ft. Overall, a beautiful day. Breezy, shaded by a nice canopy most of the way. Good way to stretch the legs, and learn an interesting piece of history.

The State Park was not too crowded. It was perfect weather and breezy that one can feel the tranquility. The people we had encountered easy going and friendly. The goal was to check out Scenic Overlook route. The weather made it perfect with clear blue skies and the clouds -Wow. The scenic overlook route had several spots to check out the view. As well to check out, John's Cave was truly incredible intriguing site & the history. This is a small park on the corner of Constitution Boulevard and Long Hill Avenue in Shelton, CT…read more It's a field of grass surrounded by a paved trail which is good for walking people or dogs. There is a tiny parking lot in one corner. There is a tiny fence all around the place, but I'd recommend not playing ball with kids in the park if they kick it a long way with the roads so close-by. It's a nice place for adults or walking the dog. For the kids, I'd recommend going down the Hill to Veteran's Park a.k.a. The Riverwalk.
