The scenic overlook offers a few view spots where you can see the sound all the way to Long Island. A fun little excursion after my visit to the Trolley Museum.

To the left, a short walk to the scenic overlook. Interesting story commemorated on a plaque on the cave. Very few other people, and almost as many dogs. Scenic overlook kind of blah....no water views, but at an elevation of about 600 ft. Overall, a beautiful day. Breezy, shaded by a nice canopy most of the way. Good way to stretch the legs, and learn an interesting piece of history.

I've taken three classes with them so far, and every one has been excellent. Mike, Monty, and Bill are outstanding instructors who make learning enjoyable while still keeping things safe and professional. One thing that really stood out was their First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Provider course. Having a physician involved in the instruction brought a level of real-world knowledge that you don't often see in dive training. I've also purchased gear through the shop, including a new BCD for an upcoming trip. They took the time to make sure it fit correctly and that I was comfortable using it before I left. There was never any pressure--just good advice and honest recommendations. The service department has been great as well. Tank fills are quick, and whenever I've had questions about equipment, someone has always been willing to help. I drive about 25 minutes to get there, even though there are other options closer to me. For me, it's worth the drive. Whether you're looking for your first certification, advanced training, specialty classes like night diving or DPV courses, or just a shop with knowledgeable people who love diving, I'd highly recommend Scuba Shack. In a sport where trust matters, these are people I trust.

On a nice weather day, it is a good spot to hang and chill. Near it you'll find bars and restaurants as well as parts of Yale University campus. I enjoyed my stroll through this park while being a tourist.

New Haven Green is a 16 acre green space located in downtown New Haven. Surrounding it is the…read morehustle and bustle of the city. There are beautiful historic architecture everywhere you look when you're standing in the Green. It was built in 1638 and is the location for many events and festivals, in the past and present. There are three historic churches located there. Also, it is one of the oldest town green in the U.S. It was even used as a cemetery back in the day and the bodies are still buried there, but the headstones were removed. My family and I enjoyed walking through. There were many benches and there were plenty of walkways throughout. Also, they now have wifi if anyone wants to work remotely from here or have a picnic. I'm a fan of historic places and this place definitely has a rich history.

I wasn't a huge fan of the buckle (?) skates they handed to me initially, but halfway through the open skate session, I traded them in for lace-up ones which were way better. An hour was plenty for our group, and at $10 for both admission and rental, was a great value! They do also have a longer open skate session at a slightly higher cost. I'd consult the website for the most up-to-date info regarding hours and pricing. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and will be sure to return for future group gatherings!

Few facilities have a true Olympic-sized rink - this one does. But there's a problem... the boards aren't straight. They lean away from the ice. I think the Outback Steakhouse "Bloomin' Onion" is the most appropriate analogy here. Locker rooms are kinda gross, and a tad small. But they always have great skate sharpeners at the pro shop, and that counts for a lot. Hockey's a filthy game anyway, so I'll gladly take that trade any day of the week.
