Marie B from 559 Creamery Rd. Telford, PA. I had my pool renovated. The original pool was a Sylvan Pool. The renovation started last fall, & I completed brushing the 2 weeks by the end of April. Unfortunately, from the beginning, my pool was leaking water, I was putting in an inch a day in a 27,000 gallon pool. It took me until August to finally get that resolved, during which, the pool, spa or both had to be turned off for weeks at a time. The only person who helped was the original salesman who I would call after waiting 2-3 weeks for action. He ways & has been wonderful! Finally the spa was re-done & I was told the man that did it would come back, clean it out & turn it back on. I was told several different times that he would come, but he didn't. The spa was sitting still for over 2 weeks, & I couldn't clean it b/c it was turned off. Plus, I had been assured that it would be cleaned before it was turned back on. After calls to the head of renovations, etc., I was told it would be taken care of. Finally, he did come back & turn the spa on, but didn't clean it! I tried cleaning it myself, even last Saturday I was trying to get the stains out, but I can't. I have basically not had a total working system this entire summer. All I am asking is for SOMEONE to come & get the stains out of my spa! It would probably take 15 minutes. No one can explain why it hasn't happened. I've left messages with the head of renovations & get no response. I'm having company for Labor Day & would like to finally be able to used both the pool & spa. My pool is being closed in 2 weeks, if the stains are not removed they may NEVER get removed. I am desperate! A simple task is all I am asking after going through a nightmare summer with my renovation. Please help me! I would like to thank Owen for taking care of my problem! I have a 30' by 50' in-ground cement pool that needed renovation. A&S recommended to change the vinyl liner to a tile and plaster renovation. The job was all done by non-English speaking sub-contractors. Thank God I speak Spanish because I had to stop them from cutting 4 inches off of the pool walls. A&S provided new decking, new coping, tile and plaster interior to my pool. They also recommended an additional skimmer. When the work commenced, the subcontractors removed a vinyl liner and coping around the existing pool to determine what was needed. No A&S employee was there to look at the pool shell which contained thick concrete walls around the pool. Each wall had a small space between which allows for movement when the seasons change. A&S did not see this so they had their sub-contractors plaster the interior of the pool. Although the pool looked great after completion, since the walls move every season and the interior plaster doesn't move, we get cracks every year since the pool was renovated. This is a major design flaw which A&S should have known about. Every year that was covered under warranty, A&S sent out someone to repair the cracks, basically, just a Band-Aid approach. Many times they had me drain and fill the pool which costs thousands of dollars. Every year, the A&S people promised that this fix was a final solution, yet every year we still get worse cracks in the same locations. There was also an A&S employee who claimed to be an engineer who stated that if he had seen the pool shell, before the plastering, he would have done it completely differently. Turns out, he is not an engineer and A&S states he never claimed to be an engineer. So now we are left with a very expensive yearly money pit: cracks that require significant water purchase, significant crack sealants, chemicals and a pool that still leaks from 3-8 inches a day. A&S created the design flaw and they either have no idea how to fix the problem they created or they don't want to spend the money to get it right. In addition, the subcontractors poured concrete down the new skimmer. They tried pouring acid to remove the concrete but it has never worked. A&S does not stand by their service and they have cost me thousands of wasted dollars. They are not to be trusted. read more

We couldn't be happier with our decision to have Anthony & Sylvan design and build our pool. As with any business, they are only as good as the people behind the name, and Anthony & Sylvan pools certainly goes above and beyond to make sure that their customers are completely satisfied. Our project manager Harald Botke made this an easy process from start to finish and we were fully informed throughout the construction process. Any questions or concerns were addressed promptly and professionally. Many companies are never heard from AFTER the construction process but this is not the case with Anthony & Sylvan. They make themselves available to answer questions and have made our pool ownership a positive experience. As a result of the outstanding service that we received, we have had A&S handle the pool cover, servicing of our pool while on vacation, and they will be installing a heater as well. I have used Anthony and Sylvan pools to open and close my pool for about two years now. I have found the technicians that come to do the opening or closing are thorough and friendly. One of the Issues I do have however is on several occasions during my opening The technicians do not seem to have a replacement part if something needs to be replaced. For example, some of the O-rings have needed to be replaced but they do not have a part in the van. I would like to see the technicians have access to the replacement parts that are more common so if they come across an issue during an opening they can replace the part on site rather than me having to do it myself. I would also like to see some general things done as part of the opening. For example placing chlorine tablets in the chlorinator. read more

Horrible consultants. Apparently if you're a woman you're not good enough to talk to for an estimate. I didn't even get to the point where I had someone come out. First time the guy got half way to my house, got stuck in traffic and turned around and went home. Then I get a call from them asking how my consult went. I told them I didn't get one yet and they said they would talk to there manager and then call me back to set up a time. No one called back. I thought I'd give them one more try and called and they set me up with an appointment with Jack. I told the women it was just going to be me there as my husband was away. She said that was fine. Jack called to confirm my appointment and it was all downhill from there to the point I hung up on him. He insisted that my husband be there as well and I told him that that was impossible. He said "Well will you be the one purchasing the pool tomorrow?" First off that comes off as very sexist as if talking to me wasn't good enough and I couldn't make that decision. He seemed to think a man needed to be there. Second off I told him I wasn't purchasing this year but getting prices an info to purchase next year. He told me that then he would just come out next year because the price would only be good for this year. I told him I understood the price may change next year but was looking for a rough estimate.. I said I wanted information this year. A pool is a big purchase and takes time to gather info and find the right company, I'm not going to just jump into buying one on the spot. He was very rude which my daughters can attest to because they were in the car listening. I'll take my business elsewhere and have someone else put in my 20x40 pool. They lost out on a big purchase even if it was going to be next year. And they can be sure I will be telling everyone about my awful experience with them! read more

We have been pleased with A & S for our new pool installation. They have communicated well, and they and their contractors have been on time for their scheduled work and appointments without exception. The whole project has taken longer than we had hoped, but that was due to factors outside of A & S's control. Harald, project manager, has been very good with communication and with keeping the project moving. Everyone that we worked with from A & S was competent and customer service oriented. As an initial disclosure, this was the second in-ground, gunnite swimming pool project that we did with the Doylestown, PA office of Anthony Sylvan (AS). The two projects were separated by 10 years and the pools were installed at two different locations. From the beginning of this second engagement, the team at Anthony Sylvan (AS), headed by Sean Donohue, made the design and construction of our 20' X 40' swimming pool stress free. Hours were spent exchanging computer generated designs, schematics and elevations and then physically laying the pool out (which posed difficulties owing to the terrain and nit-picking local zoning officials who seemed more intent on obstructing development in this rural area than aiding rate payers). AS took the lead on the permitting process, shepherding the permits through bureaucratic malaise and nit-picking. Actual construction was done as and when promised by subcontractors who worked efficiently, cleaned up the job-site after themselves and did not interfere with other trades engaged in an on-going residential construction project. AS's subcontractors were closely supervised by AS Construction Manager, Harald Bottke. Harald, like Sean Donohue, was attentive to our needs, anticipated our questions and concerns and provided us with daily telephonic, photographic and email reports. The construction project was finished as promised and on-budget. Every step of the way, the pool passed the inspections the first time. This spring, AS returned to open the pool for the first time. John visited twice during this process, familiarizing us with the equipment. John was a gentlemen, took his time and was patient with our ridiculous questions. Our only criticism of AS is that its in-house on-line payment system (ISwim) is somewhat cumbersome. In fairness, though, the system tracks the budgeting and payments well. We have now used AS twice and would not hesitate to use AS again. read more

After researching many local pool companies, we decided go with Anthony & Sylvan because they were a large company with great reviews from satisfied customers. Our experience with Anthony Sylvan was stellar. Our first experience with Anthony Sylvan was with Rob McCubbin, our pool designer, who helped us design our pool to fit our needs. He was extremely helpful, letting us know what options were available to us, without any sales pressure whatsoever. We really enjoyed designing our pool right at our kitchen table with Rob's assistance. From that point on, our interactions with contractors and subcontractors were nothing short of polite, good-humored, and professional. Everyone was more than happy to explain what they were doing and why they were doing it. We were consistently kept abreast of the pool's progress and what was coming next in the process. The main person responsible for making our pool a reality was our extremely dedicated project manager, Harald Bottke. We met with Harald before even breaking ground for the pool. From our very first meeting, Harald felt like a good friend. He was always straightforward with us, clearly explaining every step of the pool building process. Harald was never more than a phone call, text, or email away, and he promptly responded back to our questions or concerns every single time we contacted him. In turn, he kept in close contact with us, checking in periodically to see if we were satisfied as the process moved forward to completion. It happened that our pool was completed and filled with water on July 3rd; we just needed Anthony & Sylvan to start up our equipment. Harald actually called us on the 4th of July Holiday to see if we would like him to stop by and start up our pool. We, of course, said yes! So, Harald started up our pool on a holiday weekend! That is the kind of "above and beyond" customer service that Harald provided to us throughout our pool building project.
