After following their instructions and draining one third of the water, we still have high levels of nitrate. As a professional pool store they should know other options or suggestions as to why this could be happening. The old man is a complete jerk. When I ask him what other suggestions does he have and he tells me do you ask a doctor why are your cholesterol is high ? Actually, yes, a doctor should know why my cholesterol is high! And as a professional pool store you should have solutions as well. I have no problem paying for legitimate repairs that are clearly outside a maintenance contract.
