I've never actually met Dr. Farina, but I do go to his office and have Jennifer Pascoa as my Dr. there ( I don't know if anyone actually ever sees Farina or if it's just me). The staff is delightful and Jennifer is a really nice Dr. They're not stingy with medication, so it's good when you need it and I'm glad that they're as thorough as they are. The new office on Mineral Spring Ave is GORGEOUS. There's a fireplace in the waiting room and everything. My only complaint is that with the bigger office and extra staff, you'll wait on hold for a while for just about anything and getting a referral to the pharmacy lately has been like pulling teeth. Don't let that get you down though, I move so frequently that I have to change doctors every couple years, and this office and its staff has been my favorite of all time. I just recently moved 40 minutes south but I refuse to change doctors. :) read more

Went here because I had a really bad upper respiratory infection. The waiting room was dirty, the medical assistant/ receptionist at the front desk had no clue what she was doing. After correcting her 3 times, she still couldn't spell my name right...as I was spelling it aloud for her. There were a lot of red flags with this urgent care before I was even seen, I should have left. I was seen by the doctor and left. I wasn't contacted for my results of my chest x-rays until WEEKS later, on my birthday actually, with a voicemail saying that I need to be seen right away because I have pneumonia. While in my doctor's visit, no medication was prescribed and they made it seem like it was just an upper respiratory infection. I asked to pick up my chest x-rays because I wanted to bring them elsewhere. Turns out I did not have pneumonia... Trust the reviews, this place is beyond awful. I too will be filing a complaint. What kind of pcp doesn't return calls after 3 days for a serious matter and when you call the office, they put you on hold never to come back on. I've heard complaints before but I am my brother and sister in laws caretaker and they have been patients there for a long time. Their both seniors and need a real doctor. Again, I just called at 2:46 was told to hold for the doctor, I called on my other phone at 3:21(I'm still holding on my other line) was told by the answering service the office closed at 3:00. After waiting 2 weeks for results of my bloodwork, I called to ask for them... I was told someone would call me back after 5:00 pm. No call back. Called the next day, was told if they didn't call the day before, they will definitely call today. No call back. Three days - no call back. This place is the worst. I realize Dr. Farina had his license suspended, but I originally saw Dr. Guiterrez at the Coventry office, only to find out that he's no longer there. Nobody bothered to tell me this. I am planning to call the RI Dept. of Health on Monday to report him. Maybe if enough people report him, he will lose his license permanently. Anthony Farina deserves to lose his license to practice. Plain and simple. I have filed a complaint with the Rhode Island Department of Health for his medical license, as well as his offices at North Providence Primary Care. If you are currently a patient of "Dr" Farina, I feel sorry for you. If you are thinking of starting care at his office, I strongly urge you to read reviews about him and make your decision after that. I recognize that filing a complaint against a physician with the RI Department of Health is a serious matter. That should give you a sense of just how horrendous Anthony Farina is as a medical professional, and how little he cares about your health and well-being. When I moved to Providence, I had no idea who to see as my primary care doctor. I chose Anthony Farina because of his office location (near to my residence), and only that. Stupid me did not read his reviews like you are right now. Kudos to you for doing your homework. I should have run away the minute I called his office. I will guarantee that you will be asked if you can be put on hold as soon as you call the office (401-351-1900). As Netty P says below, you are "on hold for half hours at a time." I have left my phone on before as a test, and I have been put on hold for 63 minutes. Yes, over an hour. And then Farina's staff came back and said "Oh you're still here?". Yes I'm still fucking here - I have a medical issue which is why I called your office. Do you think I was trying to call a sex chat line and dialed the wrong number? Beyond the shitty office staff at North Providence Primary Care, Farina himself is a crock of shit as a doctor. I can only presume that he slept with every one of his professors as I can't imagine how else he managed to pass medical school. The man relies on WebMD (not joking, I have been in the room with him while he is looking up your symptom list) to diagnose you. After Farina has diagnosed you, he does NOT perform any necessary follow-up care. On 2 occasions, I have required a referral to a specialist. Guess who doesn't know the names of any specialists, and who asks YOU to find your own specialist and submit a request for a referral? Yup, Farina makes you do his work. What's better is that after letting him know who I needed to be referred to, he is too busy to ask his office staff to do the job. How do I know? I've been waiting on his office to refer me to a specialist since June 2014 (it's been 3.5 months). So you'd better hope you don't REALLY need medical care promptly, because Farina sure as fuck won't help you get it. Oh, and what if you need a medication prescription refill? Well I have high cholesterol (probably from eating so much, thanks to Yelp), and require medication. When I need a refill, I called his office (and waited on hold for 30 minutes). They let me know to go to CVS as they would fax over the refill request promptly. Surprise surprise I arrive at CVS, and nothing from Farina's office! Wait 15 minutes, still nothing. Call back to his office, wait on hold again, and they say "Sorry, Dr. Farina was too busy and will get to it now." I waited a full hour. Nothing. You have no idea how many magazines I read that day at CVS. And guess what - I'm still waiting (2 weeks and counting) for the refill order from Farina's office. So again, you'd better hope that you don't need any actual medical assistance from Farina, or else you're pretty fucked. So let's be clear that we're all talking about the same person: ANTHONY G FARINA, JR Rhode Island license #MD08466 and #CMD08466 North Providence Primary Care 1830 Mineral Spring Ave Suite 2 North Providence, RI 02904 So if you want a doctor who depends on Google to diagnose and treat you, and one who will perform no follow-up care that he can't bill your insurance company for, and doesn't give 2 shits if you are dead or alive, then I highly recommend Anthony Farina. P.S. North Providence Primary Care charges $50 for a no-show appointment. Which includes when you go there, wait 2.5 hours (my longest wait time) after your scheduled appointment time has come and gone, and let the medical assistant know that you are leaving. Yup, they have sent a bill of $100 to a debt collector for the 2 times that I waited for Anthony Farina to show up for an appointment, and I found out afterwards that he wasn't even in at work that day. Absolute worst mistake of my life going to this place. I have been off one of my medications for 2 months because they haven't answered or faxed any of my prescriptions over. I'm now out of ANOTHER medication and they haven't called or faxed anything over. Your appointment is at 1:30 you don't get seen till 2:30. I have had nurses come giving the wrong blood pressure and nodding out like their on drugs. This isn't the first time it's happened, it's happened on multiple occasions. This place is the worst doctor I have yet to see. I wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy! But if something happens to me from not taking my medication...let me tell you, I'm suing! As a former employee of Farina I can attest to his crazy behavior. This man is a danger to his patients. I could never find MR charts for patient visits so patients were seen without MR charts. He fired many on the spot when he went crazy...that was a daily experience. He asked me to manage his Coventry location. When I arrived for day one there was only one other office worker who was fired after I took over. It was impossible to complete all the tasks necessary to maintain proper protocol. Check in/check out/ scheduling/ filing/ phone calls/ records maintenance.When you quit or get fired he refused to pay you for the previous 2 weeks. He throws things and screams every day. He actually hit a fellow employee. I had to bring him to court to get my pay! The medical board recently suspended his license...He needs to lose his license!!! He is a sick man! I gave him one star but would have given NO stars if that was an option. read more

I recently went to the office on Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence for blood work which Dr Farina is listed on the Charter Care Website. I know Dr. Farina has a bad reputation but now I know how really bad his operation is run. Upon my first visit the girl at the desk told me that they do not do bloodwork there anymore when I had just SPOKE to Maggie on the number that is listed. I returned home and recall the number and spoke to Maggie AGAIN and she said to come back which when I got there the girl at the desk is telling me they do not do it any longer after telling her I spoke to Maggie and she said come right back. The office is a joke no one knows who is doing what. Why would one girl in the office tell you to come in for bloodwork and the other one telling you they don't do it anymore, I thought I was going to a professional doctors office instead I ended up at a circus. If anyone lives in North Providence they know the story about the mayor having the building that he'll next to where his office is that was in shambles demolished they should've demolish the building that the doctor is in with him in it!!! read more

The absolute worst medical establishment I have ever stepped into! I was there this past Sunday 6/25/17. There was a doctor working the back and no one else. No medical assistant, no nurse, no EMT. I overheard someone saying no one was even on the schedule that day to assist the doctor. Really!?!? There was an X-ray tech who did his best to help out and even went into his own car to get me a bottled water because there were no cups at all to be found in the place. Then, I look around at the dirty floors, overflowing trash, and numerous equipment that I kid you not is literally taped/held up with scotch tape. The X-ray room and equipment is like something out of a horror movie. Very outdated!!! The machine kept making a weird loud screeching static noise every time the X-ray button was pressed. The lead shield that they put around the waist looked extremely worn, dirty, had no stick left in the velcro and kept detaching off my waist. One major safety hazard! Lastly, the hot water in the restrooms was turned off and there were no paper towels stocked. I mean seriously, who runs this place??? The doctor was nice and seemed very knowledgable. As of today I have had enough. Time to find a new primary care doctor. I have been a patient of this office since 2005 and have been witness to a steady decline in the quality of services rendered. Here is a list of complaints that I have about this practice: 1. The doctors (many) that I have seen at this practice have been good, but I got the impression they were always overwhelmed with work. I think this explains why so many have left this practice over the years. 2. Today I had a 7:45am appointment for an annual physical. I could not get into the building until 8:00 am, and when I did there was no one in the doctors office. Someone finally opened the window at 8:10 but no one else was there in the office that I could see. This type of thing has happened to me on several occasions. 3. I have had this office cancel appointments and not notify me of the change. I would show up for an appointment only to have to reschedule it. 4. I honestly have no idea why I'm still a patient at this place . Where do I start if i could give zero stars I would but just the fact that it's nice in side I will give it that and only that. First the girls at the front desk seem to all hate there job and there extremely rude, no one should know that your having a bad day, but them girls absolutely make it known. Second the wait is absolutely unacceptable, matter of fact I'm on hold right now has I type this up , mind you I'm only calling to make an appointment for a physical I've been on hold for 30 EFFIN MINUTES , and had to call five times to actually get a hold of someone. When ever I make my appointments I make them for first appointment of the day which is like 745 8 . Why is it that every time I have an appointment I am waiting an hour to be sent in the back to sit there for another 15 -20 minutes. It's a disgrace and unprofessional. Oh and to top it off I had a doctor which I was wish I could remember his name , where he made it very known that he was in such a rush to leave my room with all his yups and ugh huhs, as if I was a bother to him. 35 minutes later and I was able to make my appointment. I absolutely hate this place , they need better time management, happier staff, and maybe more staffing, idk why it took 35 minutes on hold to make an appointment that took less then 2 mins. This is the world's worst office. You have an appointment scheduled at 12:30 and they finally come and get you at 1:15. Then you get into an exam room and they leave you there until you come outside of the room to complain. You don't get to see the doctor, you see a physicians assistant and its never the same one twice. Today I walked out of the office and left because they had no clue what time my appointment was, where my file was and whom I was there to see. Yet they called to harass me every day for the past two weeks to remind me of my appointment. The hand doesn't know what the elbow is doing. No thanks, I think I'll go find a competent doctor's office to care for me, rather than this mickey mouse operation. No wonder what your ratings stink, you are living up to your pewter reputation as a one star office. This office has been my PCP for almost five years and I feel as though I have had extraordinary care without the slightest issue nor problem . I have been a patient here for over ten years. I have met the dr. One time which is fine. The nurse practitioners are nice but extremely over worked!! The office staff is absolutely horrendous! I called 8 times yesterday all they do is put you on hold. They lose paperwork so you have to go down to office over and over. They say it's not my job I will have someone else call back. No one ever calls back. That's if they answer and when they do they are so rude!! You go to office and people are in the waiting room are either leaving cuz they waited an hour and still didn't get seen or are still sitting after an hour complaining they still haven't been seen. I have never seen such disregard for other people. So unorganized and extremely unprofessional. I wish there was a 1/2 star cuz that's what I would give. I have been with this drs. Office for a while and I have been very fortunate with my health so I only have to deal with them a short few times. Call your doctor they say, but what about when the receptionist will not get the message to your doctor over the course of an entire 48 hours. Call your doctor... but you are on hold for half hours at a time. To go to an appointment here you'll need to clear your schedule for the entire day even if you get there early because you will wait in each of the rooms for at least a half an hour. It's as if time disappears here and no one seems concerned with the fact that you spent your entire day waiting. Just forget calling to ask a question. A few of the receptionists are really rude and disorganized. One of the older women seems to be the only one who doesn't lose your information or misguide you. I see a nurse practitioner here who is a sweetheart. Perfectly nice and understanding. She has had to stop everything to fax things for me due to the irrisponsibility of the receptioists. Most scummiest of all doctors offices .. they overcharge you and try to say you had an appointment when you didn't, they also try to say you didn't show up for appointments so they can charge you 50 bucks extra when in reality you never made the appointment ! The receptionists laugh at you when you call and ask questions , they are rude and incredibly unprofessional !! After about 6 years, l finally met Farina in person. Underwhelmed. NPs are generally great, but are overworked and most seem to leave within 6 months. Trying to get a refill is a huge pain in the ass. where to begin ?? I never had a problem with Dr Farina himself until today. Me and my parent's have been patient's from the beginning, My dad is a very sick man, who is cared for by my elderly mother. he had a test done at the office and my mom called for 2 week's to get the result's. she was left on hold for so long the office closed without ever letting her know. Today i called to inform Brenda his sister of this in hope's of getting some help . she was totally condasending and of no help at all. when I got frustrated and told her we would no longer be patient's , she went to her brother Dr Farina and told him I said I was going to sue h them. He then called my mother and told her me and my father were dismissed as patient's . what a joke.when my mom tried explaining what was going on with his office, he refused to listen. HE DID NOT CARE. This place is HORRIBLE so do yourself a favor and stay away. I've been going there for 4 years now and at first it was ok. Then every time I called the previous DO was no longer there and I had to start with someone new. I have seen 6 different people!!! The latest one was a NP, Amanda Costa and she was so unprofessional, misinformed and clearly not well educated enough to be in this position. When I corrected her on her lack in knowledge of medications, she took issue with it...argued with me like she was a child and then didn't call in my script. She called the next day to say she had spoken with her colleagues and she would prescribe what I initially asked for. At that point I did not trust her to handle my medical issue. The latest shenanigans was more of the same. I needed a refill, the pharmacy called me to tell me the doctor wants to see me. I was just there for blood work, etc. I called to speak to her, she didn't return my call so I called again the next day. When she finally called me back, it was more arguing like a child....told me she would call in the script and once again, didn't. This was on a weekend....so finally Monday came, I had to call AGAIN and finally Amanda from the office took care of the issue. I might add while all this was going on, I asked to see the DOCTOR....and I was told, "Since Amanda is filling your script, you need to see her, ok sweetie"? They are constantly trying to get you to go in for appointments...clearly to pay for the shrine Dr. Farina has created there. Horrible experience! read more

I worke there for about 5 weeks, it's awful to hear from patients that they always have a new girl. It's even more awful when you have to put a patient in the room I wooing they will be waiting well over an hour. A lot of times the patients for Dr Farina won't even see him because he's so much of a jerk he won't even show up in time or he's backed up in Coventry office because he wants to torture the poor girls there. But of course he doesn't want to lose out on a payment so he'll make sure someone sees his patient so he gets paid. He's awful to his employees, I have been called worthless, an idiot, Ive had him scream in my face to the point I'm in tears while he's banging on the counter. And I never ever got an apology. The way he spoke to me, and every other employee is degrading. If I'm a patient somewhere I'd want to go where I'm ALWAYS going to see MY doctor or at least be told in advance they are not in. Not at Dr Farinas, they'll have us take you into a room and work you up then ask if it's okay that someone was lose sees you. Awful. Referrals and prescription refills NEVER get done because everything is on paper and "gets lost" and the people doing them are always new and training because everyone either quits or get fired so often. I've worked in plenty of other offices and NONE of them are run this way. Some patients wait for a crucial RX to be filled for days or weeks because it never gets done. The girls in the front never know what they're are doing because they change daily. Half of the time the provider doesn't even have your chart because it's lost somewhere in the office. Please do not trust your healthcare here and do not work here. This man should be investigated but for some reason he is still running and practicing medicine.
