Recently I started having daily episodes of 8 to 10 level abdominal pain. My PCP diagnosed it as…read morea prostate problem after receiving the lab report for a CT Scan and Blood Test he ordered. He recommended I see a Urologist and if the pain episodes were too serious to wait. go to the ER. I made an appointment with a Urologist but as days passed before that appointment I had several more episodes of the intense pain. I went to the ER where heretofore I and my late wife have had very good experiences. Anticipating a long wait, I brought a book to read. The triage nurse conducted a comprehensive review of what I was experiencing. I waited about 4 hours. It was late at night when the ER doctor joined me in the examination room. The ER had been very busy and I perceived that he was tired. Stating that, since I already had orders for a CT scan and blood test, I was wasting ER time. He did not examine me. At the appointment with the Urologist he asked questions and did an ultrasound scan of my abdomen. He declared that my bladder was "dead" and I'd be on catheters and plastic bags. I then made an appointment with Dr. Nazaroff at the Arizona Urology Center. After a comprehensive series of tests he started treating me for the prostate problem, On my second appointment I complained to Dr. Nazaroff that the episodes of pain were continuing. He performed a quick exam and declared the the pain problem that started me on this adventure is a hernia! Totally unrelated to the prostate! I am now on my way fixing the prostate problem with a truly fine doctor. He and the Arizona Urology Center staff are wonderful. And now I have an appointment with a surgical clinic that has received high reviews on Yelp. The surgeon will fix my hernia. That clinic will be the subject of my next review.

When I first went to Dr. Wolks office I thought he was wonderful. I had been having an ongoing…read moreproblem and was frightened when my Primary care sent me to him. He was very willing to talk to me about my concerns and what kind of treatment they could try if things did not improve. He also said I did not have to go back to my Primary Doctor for this problem any longer and to just come in if I felt I need to drop off a sample if I was having problems. It was fine for a couple of months then it got weird. I had felt ill one evening and even called into work sick. When I went into his office to drop off a sample the receptionist asked me if I had an appointment, which I did not. This was the first time I had attempted to do this without an appointment and I realized he was probably meaning for me to make an appointment, not just drop in, I told her "No, I can come back, I'm sorry" and she said no she would work me in, which took a couple of hours, but I understand that. She did get the sample right away. The whole two hours I felt stupid for assuming I could really just walk in! When I finally saw the Doctor he told he we could wait until the test results before he prescribed something and that he should get the test results by Thursday or Friday. I was starting to take an over the counter product that helped with the pain so I said ok. Thursday came and went and no call. On Friday I waited till around 1PM and called and found the office had been closed that day, in fact every Friday they are closed. I explained the situation to their answering service and she had a nurse call me. The nurse said that the Doctor probably told me Friday because he would come in sometimes and catch up on some things. She ended up prescribing me something I had never taken before. Over the weekend I started feeling like I was getting sick, and my joints were hurting but I thought maybe I was getting the flu. On Monday I received no call from the Doctor as to the test results. Tuesday I phoned and had to leave a message and just asked if they had received my results. Dr. Wolk called me back and informed me he had and that what I was prescribed should be fine. He was very short with me and I felt like I was being an annoyance to them and believe me - I do not want to be that person. A day after I spoke with them I was really ill and stopped taking the drug that they had prescribed. In about 8 hours after I stopped I felt much better which let me know that I was having a reaction to this medication. Needless to say I did not feel comfortable contacting them once again but I felt that they should know that I would not be taking the medication all the days that was prescribed. I went to their web site and wrote them an email. After sending this email I never heard from them, no one from this office contacted me. When I had a reoccurrence of my problem I just went back to primary care who continued to take care of me for several months but then they said I needed to go back to Dr. Wolk. I was dreading it but I thought I need to go to a specialist because maybe we could talk about alternative options other than medication or tests for me to take. I went into his office, everything seemed fine. The Assistant took my blood pressure and asked questions like all the other times. Everything seemed perfectly normal. Then Dr. Wolk came in and said my sample showed that it was normal. I told him I had taken a home test that showed a slightly raised leukocytes (white blood cells) and that I was feeling like I was getting a UTI again. He said that it was just irritation and told me to try over the counter meds which I was fine with. Then he made comment about they had seen this irritation in my urethra when they scoped me. I was shocked, and told him I had never had this procedure done. Other than prescribing meds the man had never so much as touched me. He then acted like I was the one talking crazy, that of course we had done the scope as this is how they had written this up as me just having this irritation. Can you imagine how I felt? This guy must be doing his own self medicating! I left and went straight to my Primary and asked for a referral to a different specialist. Never in my life have I had such a humiliating experience with a doctor.
