His arm and hand had gone completely numb, and he was in so much pain that he could barely sit still. Throughout the appointment he was visibly writhing in pain. The urgent care physician had already done what they could and referred him to an orthopedic specialist because they believed he needed further evaluation and treatment. Even though Garey Orthopedic was able to get him in relatively quickly, it still took several agonizing days for the appointment while my brother continued to suffer. At the time, we were grateful to be seen sooner than expected. Looking back after our experience, I couldn't help but wonder whether the availability had less to do with efficiency and more to do with patients choosing not to return to this place. We walked into this appointment expecting expertise, answers, and, at the very least, compassion. Instead, we were met with one of the most cold, dismissive, and uncaring physicians I have ever encountered. Dr. Patel came into the room, asked my brother what was wrong, and while briefly checking his grip strength, asked when the symptoms began. Within just a few minutes he said my brother needed an MRI and then asked, "Are you open to an MRI?" We found that question baffling. We weren't there to decide for ourselves what diagnostic tests should be performed. We were referred to an orthopedic specialist because we expected a physician to evaluate him and determine the appropriate course of action. The most upsetting part of the visit came when we asked what could be done to help manage my brother's unbearable pain while waiting for the MRI. Dr. Patel's response was simply, "Go to the ER." We asked if Garey Orthopedic did not treat pain, and he again replied, "No. Go to the ER." There was no explanation other than an arrogant response the he is a surgeon and if my brother came looking for pain relief he couldnt help him. No discussion of why that was his recommendation. No acknowledgment that the patient sitting directly in front of him was in obvious agony. No empathy. No compassion. Every response felt abrupt, irritated, and dismissive, as though our questions were an inconvenience. I understand that physicians have limits on what they can prescribe or treat. If Dr. Patel believed the emergency room was the appropriate place for pain management, that could have been explained with professionalism and compassion. Instead, his demeanor conveyed complete indifference to someone who was clearly suffering. Later, we asked the nurse if he could be referred to a pain management doctor and she was able to give us a couple of names. At this point however, I don't think I would take that their referral for anything. We accepted the MRI referral because it was necessary, my brother paid his copay, and left. Before we were even out of the parking lot, we had already decided my brother would never return to Dr. Patel. We immediately began looking for another orthopedic physician because we had absolutely no confidence that someone with so little compassion was the right person to oversee his care. A physician's responsibility extends beyond ordering tests. Patients deserve to be heard, informed, and treated with dignity, especially when they are in obvious distress. My brother came to this appointment desperate for help. He left feeling dismissed, unheard, and no closer to finding relief. After reading many of the other reviews, I now understand that our experience was not unique. I only wish I had read them before scheduling this appointment. If you are looking for an orthopedic physician who listens, communicates, and treats patients with compassion, our experience with Dr. Patel was the complete opposite. I cannot recommend Dr. Patel or Garey Orthopedic based on the way my brother was treated.

Personally, I see Dr Anil, Dr A as I call him. He has worked with me in monitoring my condition for a few years now and you can't get a better person who happens to be an MD. So knowledgeable, no question is too small or insignificant to ask. I referred my husband as well and he has great respect for Dr A as well. This practice is well worth a look!

Incredibly positive experience! I highly recommend…read more I genuinely feel so blessed. My little one was practicing writing her letters when suddenly she turned to me and told me she had "a black eye". What followed was a series of test performed by me, a visit to the pediatrician and an instruction by her pediatrician to see an ophthalmologist. This was a very difficult task indeed, I called place after place and no one could get us in or had an ophthalmologist or had someone who worked with kids. I called Claremont eye associates and it said they were closed but if it was urgent I could leave a message with their answering service. 1 hour later they called me back. Amazing from that point on. She told me they had no appointments available but they'd want me to come in right then and they'd squeeze me in if I didn't mind waiting. I got there and besides being confused since the map took me to the back of the office and the front door doesn't look like one, everything was better than expected. The front desk worked quickly and efficiently and was so friendly and patient. There was hustle but also slow down for questions. They moved people in and out flawlessly. They answered my questions about insurance. I saw the person I had talked to on the phone and she was even more friendly and kind in person. They took us back in less time than I've waited somewhere that I DID have an appointment. The nurse was efficient and experienced, professional and kind. My first interaction with the doctor was very brief and made me cry because as soon as he saw my daughters results he told the nurse to dilate her eyes and walked out and I felt confused and overwhelmed and wished someone would tell me what that meant. She was reassuring and patient and we walked to room after room as they completed the exam. When I saw the doctor again, he had all the hustle of everyone else but did show me her optic nerve and the back of her eye and assured me that from an "eye" perspective, she looked great, with the exception that she was very farsighted and one of her eyes was "nearly blind". While we were in there he got a call, and had to multitask. I got the sense that he is good at what he does, and he does it, without any fluff. I appreciate that especially because everyone else is over the top friendly, I'm fine if he's more "all business" especially because he did explain everything very succinctly and answered my questions and even was thoughtful of finances in where he sent me to get her prescription. A very positive experience. I felt so encouraged and cared for!

I have never experienced the type of pain I am feeing, so I had a lot of questions. The doctor was clearly rushed and was flippant about his responses. He has NO bedside manner - just wanted to get me out the door! Well needless to say I am looking for a new doctor which is not easy with the horrible health care system our country has now. I paid a lot of money to be made to feel horrible and treated like a stupid old "anxiety" ridden woman !!!! He should not practice medicine- maybe he would be better slinging burgers !!! and tried to call this office back on a regular working day multiple times no answer goes to a voicemail saying that its not business hours !! At a later date my wife had an appointment made by her doctor to see Dr. Gupta regarding a tumor on her knee today 2-8-22 for she is extremely preoccupied about it and when she arrived the receptionist of Indian descend had a "Arrogant Pitbull attitude" towards her, she was so rude telling my wife that the appointment was for March 8th and not today (All that time with a nasty attitude) causing my wife to leave that office in disgusts and regretting ever going there. On the second appointment she had with Dr. Lercel a week ago the same attitude surfaced from the receptionist and it got to the point that she threw at my daughter who was accompanying my wife a card to her face prompting my daughter to throw it back at her telling her to have some respect towards the patients and to our surprise Dr. Lercel called our primary physicians office saying that he did not want my wife as a patient anymore!! Where is the "Humanitarian" side of these two doctors?? I'm a businessman and my advise to Dr. Gupta & Lercel is to hire people with a pleasant attitude towards his present and future patients otherwise the reviews of his business are going to have a negative impact on their offices. Hire people with pleasant attitudes!!
