I highly recommend Dr. Salzarulo. I had seen about a dozen doctors about my health. I had also tried a lot of alternative treatments with little success. I visited Dr. Salzarulo and he looked into my eyes to examine my iris. He also pressed on my stomach to make some kind of assessment about my organs. I came back for a follow up visit to get his 'results'. The results were a hand out where he just filled in the blanks that my problem was with my colon and liver. It really wasn't a surprise diagnosis because that's where almost every problem originates - in either the colon, liver, or intestines. The handout had several pages attached which described his plan for getting better. The last page had the price of his services, broken down as follows: STEP 1: 4 office visits (one per week). During this step you are given your supplements. Not quite sure why you have to come back each week for this. STEP 2: 4 visits (one every other week) followed by 2 visits (one every three weeks). This is to see how the body is responding to the program and to determine if any changes in supplements need to be made. Total number of visits: 10 The initial consultation was $160. Follow up visits are $80 each. So for the 10 visits listed above, it would cost $800 (excluding the initial consultation). This also excludes the cost of supplements which should be factored in. He offers a prepayment plan where you would get a 15% discount if you pay for your ten follow up visits in advance. Therefore, you would pay $680 instead of $800. Adolescents (age 12-17) may qualify for a 25% discount from the adult rate and children (age 11 and under) may qualify for a 35% reduction from the adult rate. He gave me a ton of handouts without discussing them with me. He then came up with a list of supplements I should take. I bought them and took them but they didn't help my condition. I didn't like the fact that he didn't customize a nutritional plan for me, but instead I had to put one together for myself based on his handouts. I kinda wanted more individualized attention. Lastly, he doesn't talk very much. Would be nice to get some answers and not just handouts, supplements, and the bill. He seemed really pressed to get me to commit to coming in weekly. I don't like that pressure. Felt like I was signing up for a gym membership. Dr. Salzarulo may be able to help you with your condition. Who knows. I decided instead to seek the attention of a medical doctor who also has an extensive background in naturopathic medicine. There's only so much that a naturopathic doctor can do sometimes to help your condition. Dr. Salzarulo isn't a medical doctor and doesn't draw blood so he couldn't give me as accurate of an assessment of my health. Dr. Salzarulo has helped me more than any other doctor (conventional or otherwise) who has ever treated me. First off, let me point out that holistic medicine isn't always the best path for everyone so it's important that you educate yourself before making a decision. To put it simply, as wonderful as Dr. S. is, he may not be the best fit for you. So a little about me... I have been struggling with adrenal fatigue ever since my battle with childhood cancer (about 15 years ago). Thankfully, I am still cancer free years later but the chemotherapy strongly impacted my body and left me with a range of permanent side-effects (one being severe hearing loss). I came to see Dr. S. specifically to work on my chronic fatigue issues (I did not know my adrenals were burnt out at the time). The first visit is where Dr. S. performs extensive tests and in depth history to determine the underlying cause of your condition. One of the processes he uses is called organ stress testing which I was initially skeptical of. He discovered that I may have gluten allergy (in addition to adrenal fatigue), which made no sense to me because I never had overt symptoms. We both decided it would be best to follow up with a blood and saliva test and I was shocked when the saliva test confirmed his findings. Just to clarify, Dr. S. does not have anyone on staff to draw blood. He, just like most conventional doctors, will refer you out to a lab if you require blood work which I assume won't always be necessary. I personally feel more comfortable doing as much testing as possible before starting on a course of treatment. The treatment for my condition consisted of dietary and lifestyle recommendation, homeopathic remedies and nutritional supplements. Dr S. mentioned to me on the first visit that it takes COURAGE to work towards optimal health. This is because almost all diseases are the result of a POOR LIFESTYLE. Let's face it, most new Yorkers are over-worked, get very little sleep, eat a crap diet, are exposed to huge amounts of toxins and do next to nothing to reduce our stress levels. But then we act surprised when our organs start to shut down and disease appears. As far as pricing goes, some people who are used to paying nothing but $20 copay when seeing a physician might be taken aback at his prices. But try going to a medical doctor without insurance and you will find Dr. S. incredibly cheap by comparison. However, you should know that he does not accept insurance so be ready to pay out of pocket for his services. So to wrap this up, if you are looking to be prescribed pharmaceutical drugs that will cover up your symptoms instead of treating the UNDERLYING CAUSE of your systems, then a holistic doctor is not for you. If you have a serious condition that needs to be treated IMMEDIATELY then run, don't walk, to a conventional medical practitioner. But if you are tired of dealing with your chronic health condition, have no desire to subject yourself to a lifetime of pharmaceuticals (and their inevitable side-effects) and are willing to be courageous enough to work on changing your lifestyle over time to PERMANENTLY CURE your condition, then a holistic approach will most likely benefit you in ways you can't even imagine. I believe that he can help some people..which is why I gave him 2 stars. However, he didn't help my condition after a whole month or more of weekly visits. He comes across as a nice man who cares about your health- and I believe he truly does care. However- Paying $80 each visit + the cost of supplements (total weekly fees average $160) I expected our weekly meetings to be lengthy where he'd do serious tests, give progress reports, etc. This is not the case. Each follow up lasted about 10 minutes. I was given pre-planned new supplements each week. While he says the program is "affordable", it's really costing you $1500+ over a 3-12 month time span. He designed this program to last usually a minimum of 3 months by the way with no guarantee of success. The reason he does a "prepay" plan is because some clients give up after a short while, and money stops coming into him. It was very obvious that above all, he cares about your business more than your health. I see this on his website, twitter, Facebook etc. The reason is...on all those sites it us ALWAYS advertising himself as opposed to giving out occasional health ideas for free. They are flooded with repeat testimonials and YouTube videos that give no basic tips on how to get started on better health. Instead "Call me if you'd like more info or to arrange an appt..35% off your first appt". He was supposed to review my program every week and tell me if I'm on track or not. Instead, he assured me to keep eating Raw vegetables and no sugar or bread etc. As a male who had a great build and very little fat on my body to begin with, I lost over 20 lbs in less than a month. I had no intention of losing weight, nor did I want to. My coworkers told me I looked "sickly" since I lost too much weight, and women became less attracted to me because I lost a lot of my muscle/good fat/good build. In the meantime, my wallet was being drained, wasn't seeing results, and couldn't enjoy any of the food I was eating at all. Add that to losing good weight and confidence in myself, I became depressed. I did everything he said, also spent $100 on a juicer, and pushed myself through the program for a month. My family and friends told ne I was crazy, that I looked horrible from losing weight and it was obvious I was left with very little enjoyment in life. So I stopped the program. I later emailed him with a general question and he told me "to answer that I'd need you to come in since it's been a couple weeks". I recently went to Dr. Salzarulo to treat an ongoing infection with my eye. None of the traditional doctors that I visited before going to him could help me and after 5 months of taking different prescription medications my eye was no better off than when I started. I've been seeing Dr. Sal for a little over a month now and am very happy with my results. I was skeptical at first but a month and a half in and I've lost that extra weight I couldn't shake and have not had any low blood sugar issues in this entire period. For years I would see different doctors for all sorts of ailments that weren't concretely diagnosable like skin problems, asthma, allergies, blood sugar issues, depression, extra weight, etc. He is not a medical doctor and should not be treated as one--there is no substitute for concrete medical advice when necessary. But if you have the types of issues that have not been explained or cured by doctor after doctor, then I highly suggest you see Dr. Sal for a really healthy and empowering program that (hopefully in my case) will serve me very long term. In my (very short) time in working with him, he has given me some really simple and great advice that has paid off in very big ways. I like the way the visits are stretched out over a period of time because so much of healing and living healthy is about taking charge of your own health yourself and finding the inspiration to do that. I don't think his stretched out program schedule is meant to rip people off or make more money but to provide people with the gentle assurance and encouragement that we need as we move through the program so that we're empowered to make healthier choices in the longer term over time and not just looking for a quick fix. Visited Dr. Salzarulo two months ago. Decided not to continue his program after several visits. He gives you many handouts, does not explain anything and is very rushed. I looked him up and he is a chiropractor and physical therapist by license. Do not know where he obtained his nutritional credentials. Found his nutritional information to be incomplete and lacking in specifics. Based on his discussion with me, sounds like he gives all his patients the same talk. He seems rehearsed and on autopilot. He is very aggressive about getting you enrolled into a 10 program plan, but he fails to explain how you will improve your condition based on his program. He does not seem to do blood work and other lab studies like other practitioners I have been to in the past, and for this I doubt how he can come up with his diagnosis, when there is no proper evaluation. There is no real physical exam on the first visit, and I do not believe in the results from muscle testing. Dr. Salzarulo seems to occupy the low end market of alternative health care, cutting deals, lowering prices by percentages. I guess if you want generic alternative care at a low price, Dr. Salzarulo is your guy. But as we all know, you get what you pay for. read more
