I have been to Jeni's before but it was always in Chicago. It was a cool experience knowing I was having Jeni's where it originated - in Columbus, Ohio. One thing about Jeni's is that everything about it is consistently good including the sweet smell that draws you in a block away and smacks you right when you walk in, the sweet and crunchy but slightly salty handmade waffle cones, the taste testing they allow so you feel confident in your decision, and the creamy, sweet ice cream flavors. I stuck with my all time favorite which is the gooey butter cake and tried something new, brambleberry crisp. I also love that they allow you to mix flavors and give half scoops of each. Additionally, they are good about having seasonal flavors that are always unique and tasty. It is by far my favorite ice cream shop and I love that they are introducing their pints in stores around me, where a Jeni's shop is not around. read more

There are ones they have all the time, and then featured or special ones, those are short run only available for a short time. Mine was dairy-free lemon bar, one they have all the time-- I could tell from the emptiness of the tub from which it was being scooped that it is a fan favorite. I got the "standard size", which is two scoops, in a waffle bowl. It was $8.30 including tax, and worth EVERY PENNY. They also sell pints. My wife and I are new to Columbus. We came from Alabama, where it's demanded that one chooses between Alabama or Auburn - or Vandy, if you're a troublemaker. Here, it appears that OSU is the correct choice and there may be no others (simmer down, haters - you know it's troo). Instead, apparently we're required to choose between Jeni's and Graeter's. We have the latter down the street from us, so we're familiar already with their yumminess. So in order to make an informed, honest decision, we went off to Jeni's after an excellent! dinner at Cumin and Curry. I gotta tell you - I don't understand why I have to choose. Both are just excellent, yet different. Graeters is more standard ice cream, sort of Baskin and Robbins but with far more class: flavors that match the sign a little better; just a little creamier; slightly less obnoxiously sugary yet still dinner-spoilingly sweet. Jeni's is what those places that maul chocolate chips and cherries into your dessert in front of you would like to be, except they forego the show and just give you thickly creamy ice cream with, again, a better match between label and flavor. My wife and I both got the dark chocolate confection. It was darkly dark, not too sweet just like dark chocolate is meant to be. A little salty, though, which was just a little puzzling and discordant. Just a little. But get that. I busted my diet just a little bit more by getting a scoop of salty peanut butter chocolate chip. Tasted like it sounds. The salt poked out the most. The peanut butter was present but mellow, not like eating a spoon full of PB. The chocolate chunks were small and well-dispersed, lending a chocolate overtone to the confection rather than occasional chocolate bombs. Best part, though, is how well it went with the dark chocolate. Get them together. YUM. I got a waffle dish. They make them there, while you're in line. You'll find you smell just a little like waffle cone for a few hours, so think twice before you head to a job interview after a trip to Jeni's. But they taste good. Get that. (They also make waffle cones right there.) Nope. Hard to choose between the two ice cream spots. For me, sometimes I feel like thick n creamy, sometimes like traditional. But mostly, since Jeni's and their main local competitor are both seriously yummy, I'm just going to go to the one that's closest. We'll win in every case. Go there. read more

My absolute favorite ice cream is Bramble-berry Crisp!!! Brambleberry Crisp is like a slice of fresh berry pie mixed with a scoop vanilla ice cream in every bite. So beyond delicious!!! I had to buy a pint to go! I also like the Darkest Chocolate which is rich smooth chocolate ice cream. It's packed with so much real chocolate it's on a level of its own. My son really liked the Honey Vanilla Bean. Plain & Simple but their version is very rich and complex, with notes of amber, dried fruit, and butter cake. The only drawback is the long line I experienced on a Sat afternoon with only 4 people working. 2 were serving. One at the register and one making waffle cones. read more

The trio was pretty good! The darkest chocolate was really tasty! It was bitter but amazing (my favorite). The high five had a mixture of caramel and chocolate flavors that was also really yummy. The pumpkin roll was a dud... it tasted mainly of cream cheese with super subtle flavors of pumpkin. I would have liked to see richer/heavier pumpkin flavors in this one. Jeni's is the rare treat ice cream place. It is really tasty but on the expensive side. They always have neat flavors, and some of the best dairy free ice cream in town. I love that Jeni's partners with celebrities to create special ice cream flavors. Although I have never got to try them because they sell out so quickly. When you walk in it always smells like hot yummy waffle cone because they make them fresh in store. It is one of my favorite smells. Today I had my staple favorite which is wildberry lavender and I also tried the seasonal dairy free lemon bar. The lemon bar had great tang from the curd and a surprising amount of creaminess. We had dinner at Easton, so thought to grab some pints to go for home. We asked about the black raspberry sweet corn and it still has not returned :(. That is our favorite flavor! They had a new flavor this time, wedding cake. We asked to try it, but due to covid they are no longer doing samples. I asked the worker what she thought of it and she explained the flavor to us. We ended up getting gooey butter cake, peach jam and biscuit, and wedding cake pints to go ($10/pint). These flavors are all very rich and sweet, but divine. I had tried the others before, but the wedding cake is also good with a tanginess from the lemon but sweet from the cake and buttercream. They gave us the pints in a freezer bag. If you buy 3 or more pints, the bag is free. That was a nice touch, as we can reuse this bag and it allowed us more time to walk around the area. This location is open till 11pm currently. While checking out, I was asked if I would like to leave a tip and the amount of the tip as I paid by card. I thought it was a bit awkward to ask this and to also say the amount out loud. Definitely, puts people on the spot. There was really no service given that required a tip. There is a tip jar, so I think if anyone wants to give a tip, that can be used. read more

I mean, Jeni's is the go-to for a reason! The Easton location is always busy but they're pros at keeping the line moving. The smell of buttery waffle cones makes the wait not so bad. I always get a scoop of lavender wildberry - it's a sleeper favorite with light notes of lavender matched with the flavor of sweet berries. My fiance is a lot more adventurous than I am and always tries the seasonal flavors, and I don't think he's ever been disappointed. Nectar Honeycomb--Now this flavor is interesting in a good way! It is light and airy and you immediately get this interesting taste of the oil they used to make it.
