The facility was built with dogs in mind...before it was A Walk In The Park, the building was the home of the Toledo Area Humane Society. The building is more than large enough, and the yard is even bigger. The staff is awesome...just plain awesome. You can tell that every single person working here really loves dogs, and the dogs, at least my dog, seems to love all of them. We recently left our puppy here when we weren't able to take him with us on vacation. My wife, who still does Facebook (LOL), logged in daily to see videos and pix of the pack including our boy, so she and the kids (and me too, I guess) felt connected. When we got home and went to pick him up, he was happy to see all four of us, but he didn't want to leave...I guess dogs really are pack animals. We also utilize doggie daycare a couple time per week. As far as pet safety goes, and I might not have this exactly right, but I think the dogs are grouped by age and size. That is, the large breed puppies are kept together, and the small breed puppies are keep together. The large breed adults are kept together...etc. In other words, you don't have to worry about your chihuahua pup getting eaten by a Doberman. Great business, and great location. Five stars.

I'm always greeted at the door (and I hear them greeting others) and I'm always asked if I need help. And they help! They're always willing to talk about pets, theirs and mine, and they offer services like curbside pickup (getting to be hard to find this long after Covid) and delivery. They include thank you notes, they offer great coupons in the mail and there are always good clearance deals. Some of the toy prices are a little high, but this location doesn't set that and sales make them more affordable. I'll pick this location over nearby Petco any day. You get the feeling they truly care about your business here.

I still love Total Pet Care for their excellent boarding services and vet care but wanted to write…read morean update about how disappointed I am in the grooming my dog recently had. I have a 6 year old long haired dachshund who I have always groomed myself. I like to shave his hair short and then wash him well to make sure all the trimmed hair is off his body. I decided to have it done professionally for the first time and when I brought my dog home he kept rubbing against the sofa and lying on his back to rub himself almost all day for a week straight. These are things he's never done before. Thinking he was allergic to the shampoo used at the vet, I took him a bath at home and was shocked and infuriated at how much trimmed hair came off him. Did the groomer shave him and not give him a bath afterward or did she just give him a crappy bath? Once I cleaned him he no longer rubbed himself due to discomfort but he began chewing on his paw until it was raw. I had to take him to the vet who told me it was infact an allergic reaction so he gave my dog a cortisone shot and antibiotics. And this I paid for out of my own pocket without so much as a sorry from the staff. I will NEVER take my dog there again for grooming.
