We had our wedding ceremony and reception here in July and it exceeded all our expectations. Guests told us it was the best wedding they've ever been to. The food was amazing, the staff was beyond incredible, especially Brian, Franco, and Cheryl. I could go on and on everything was absolutely perfect - not to mention the setting. BLEECH!!! The worse Lobster ever!! And only get a side salad?? Rip OFF!! I wanted Grilled Lobster and got it soaked in Mariana sauce It was slimy, unable to hold it and pick out any meat. They also split it and removed the inside body?? 1/3 of any Lobster meat was taken out?? It was a to-go order so sending back was not an option. Went for brunch Memorial Day weekend. Place is absolutely beautiful. It was a shame it was raining. Staff was very attentive. Food was very good. I can't say there were any complaints in my group except one asked for orange juice and I'm not exactly sure what she was served. It had some carbonation to it and definitely didn't taste like orange juice plus they put ice in it. We just let it go. Can't wait to try it during the sunny warm weather. So we just went to a wedding here. As we battled for a parking spot and looked out towards the beach, we thought... hmmm, not bad. Beautiful views from the sort of Silver Creek Valley Country Club looking building- boasting a large deck and welcoming, but not super informed, front desk staff. The biggest problems off the bat were that several wedding were happening at once, creating a bit of confusion and a crowded parking lot. We found our way to "our wedding"- on the awesome deck and beautiful gazebo overlooking the private beach. Serving tables were set with flowers and champagne, rows of seats neatly lined in front of the gazebo.... and guest huddles under the perimeter of umbrellas- because it started to rain. A few lines into the ceremony and the sky opened up. The staff was amazing as they quickly hurried the entire bridal party and guests into the almost-but-not-quite set up reception room. We squished together on the dance floor and finished the vows. Next issue: Tissue thin walls! Latin music blasted over the I-do's. It was impossible to hear anything but the DJ next door. Everything was wonderful.... up until the wedding day. 100% honesty here - The staff went above and beyond for me to do whatever I needed... if they did that on my wedding day, they would of had rave reviews with all five stars and I'd be recommending them to absolutely everyone, heck, they'd have a new promoter / marketer for their business! But unfortunately, that's not the way it went. We were supposed to have Thomas as our maitre'd and they instead stuck us with the worst most unprofessional maitre'd I've ever met. He was supposed to make our wedding stress free... yeah umm NO. Let's put it this way - I left my wedding at the end of it CRYING, and I'll tell u why! There were people that dropped out so we said instead of refunding us the money, they could replace it with bottles of cristal. We had three at first, then when I came to drop the last of my stuff off there was more people that dropped out so I notified Rachael about it and she's like no problem we will add another one in. ....wedding day comes along, suddenly we owe a $600 bill for it. WTF?! Oh it gets worse... three times... during our wedding mind you, he harasses us about this godd*** bill. Like.. why would we add something on when we can't pay for it? Then Catarina says to me... well you got plenty of checks in that box... EXCUSE ME?! keep in mind I tell her we don't have our wallets on us and then proceeds to tell me, "your money situation is not my business"... then why the heck would you Make some snarky comment about my guests leaving money in the box?! Keep in mind, 11 more people did not show up on our wedding day. We PAID FOR THAT FOOD. Did we get it? NO. That's legit like going to a restaurant, ordering food, not getting it, getting a check for it and leaving. And they want the money for the cristal... LMAO. They are money hungry thieves plain and simple! They owe us over $2,000. Maybe I should badger them three times about it like the maitre'd did at my wedding. Also - we ran extremely late. I didn't even get to do a lot of the things I planned!! My wedding was ruined. While the food is great and the venue itself is nice, the staff I give negative a million stars. Stay FAR FAR AWAY from this venue. As nice as it looks - the staff's crap attitudes, not so much. EDIT: After expressing how upset I was, the manager said to me that she was gonna give me a $500 gift card to the venue and a $700 check because she "felt bad for what Catarina said to me" on my wedding day, regarding her disgusting statement about paying for the champagne with the checks I received from my guests as wedding gifts. Apparently she saw my review because I called asking where this money was, and instead of speaking to me like an adult to try and fix this, she had her receptionist tell me for her that "the damage is done" and she won't be having any contact with me and that I got everything I asked for per contract. Soooo... paying for 10 or 11 meals that I never got was getting everything I wanted? That's how the contract works? INTERESTING. This is legit going to a restaurant, ordering food and instead of getting the food you ordered, you get a check...for food you never received. She even tried to make some kind of lame excuse saying "it's more than just the food that goes into it" and she's right about that, I know that, and if it was only two people that didn't show up that day, I wouldn't care as much and wouldn't expect those meals, but we are talking about at least ten people here at $230 a head (including taxes and fees). You don't wanna give me some kind of compensation just because I exposed what happened at this venue? Wow. Ok! I'm fully within my first amendment rights of free speech, I have the right to post a review of my experience, so what's the problem? Because it's negative?! Smh. How about fix the issues instead of b-tching and moaning about a bad review. The one person who I truly have no issue with on the other hand is Andrew - that man is the best damn staff member you got and went above and beyond for me - if I had him as a Matre'd that day I know for a darn fact none of this would of ever happened. "Can we give them a minus star?" Stated my husband. Unfortunately the answer is no so a it is. We do however give our waiter a thumbs up. He was friendly and wanted to make it right for us. It was a party of 5, we ordered lobster and linguine, zupe di pesce with linguine, penne al a vodka with chicken, ny strip medium well, and clams over linguine. Lets start by saying what was delicious: the penne ala vodka and the steak (which made the medium well an actual medium well...very tasty). Now why the 1 star? The manager. Why did we have a manager involved? So the linguine (mine was the zupe di pesce) was more al dente than I'd like but I kept an open mind. The lobster and linguine was ok up until my sister cracked one of the claws and noticed it was undercooked. We decided to pack up and take our food to go. As my husband was packing up my meal he saw a hair. At first we thought it was mine but the color wasn't the same....mine is jet black this was light brown. The penne al a vodka was being packed up too and found a 1 inch strand of some sort underneath the pasta. Manager came and told us it was because we're outside anything could fly in. We told her about the undercooked lobster meat and she ASSURED us it was cooked and that because she ate the whole tail and the other claw (which actually she didn't and showed her so but somehow the manager didn't want to notice). She kept on saying this over and over that it was for sure cooked and when we asked her for a reasonable solution she did not want to and kept on making excuses. She did however offer dessert and 2 more cooked claws but we were so turned off we didn't want it. Turned off by the food and turned off by the manager. This isnt my first rodeo at Anthony's. I've been to sweet sixteens, weddings, high school luncheon, high school reunion and the food was never a problem. It was actually very delicious and I have enjoyed my time but today was my graduation dinner....unfortunately not a good experience and food was not good except for what I mentioned above. THIS WAS EXCEPTIONAL, IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD !!!!!!! The help that my husband and I received in booking and planning our wedding could have never been duplicated or better appriciated. The staff at Anthony's took care of every need we could ever have imagined and provided everything and more for us and our guests on our wedding day. The food was AMAZING and we got complimens from each and every guest about how amazing it was. They have a GORGEOUS garden where we mingled with guests and had our cocktail hour and also took some pictures. They also have private access to a beach, where we were able to take some wonderful pictures at sunset. We were there a bit early for our reception, but within 10/15 min everything was set up for us. There was a time when I was just tired from running around from table to table and the head waiter came to me and asked if I needed anything, I told him all I wanted was a glass of water...and within 30 seconds he was handing me the glass. That's the kind of service Anthony's offers and then-some. I can't wait to go back there for another function, actually looking for an excuse ;-) read more

Gave it one star for the location only the service gets no stars. We were a party of six with a 630 reservation. Our drink orders were taken promptly but it was all downhill from there. We waited and waited and waited for our meals,we asked the waitress twice about the status of our food and was told each time she checked with the kitchen and assured us they were on the way. We noticed at least two tables around us who arrived well after we did get their meals. After about an hour and a half the meals finally came ....well at least five of them did the sixth one "catch of the Day" apparently was not ordered by the waitress or screwed up by the kitchen. No apology from the servers and no clear idea what was going on or what happened. Three people ordered the filet mignon ($30.00 each) only one was cooked properly and that one was ordered well done. One other was practically raw not med rare as ordered the last one was also undercooked but not as much. The two other meals were shrimp cacciatore. Both were served in a tall type bowl, there was a total of three almost medium sized shrimp in each along with some red peppers onions and mushrooms in a red sauce. There was not much to eat at all and the shrimp were overcooked and hard. Both were served with a small portion of mashed potatoes with a long potato chip stuck in them. After the five of us were all done eating the last meal came out (sea bass with clams) finally came out TWO HOURS after being ordered. My son had to eat alone and held us up longer than we planned to be there,but he did say that that meal was good. When the check came there was no apology or explanation for the atrocious service we received. No offer was made to adjust our check for the horrible inconvenience we suffered. We didn't dare order dessert or coffee we had enough at that point. Had to ask for the check and the waitress disappeared with my credit card for at least ten minutes,it was a Tuesday and not very busy at all, I mentioned that at least the service was consistent consistently BAD. The location is great and makes you feel like your eating somewhere in the Caribbean but there was no excuse for the service or the bungled meals. Just have to give a big thank you to all the staff at Anthony's Ocean View. My family went there for the Easter buffet. It was amazing! They had everything you can think of to eat and probably more. All the food was delicious. The staff kept all the trays full of hot food. The carving stations were excellent. They cut as big a piece as you wanted and as much as you wanted. I can't say enough about this buffet. It was well worth the money. Besides keeping the food trays full, the staff was very good at clearing your plates and making sure your glass was full. Some people thought it was a lot of money. But for us, it was worth it to just go someplace and let someone do the cooking and cleaning and everyone got to eat what they wanted. We had a wonderful time. We will be back. Thanks to all the people that worked so hard to make Easter a very enjoyable day for my family and, I'm sure, many more families. read more

My husband and I were extremely excited about giving this place a try ! My husbands chicken Parm was great my chicken was very dry and I let the waiter know . He stared at me for a second and said he did not understand was it overcooked and when I replied yes he asked me if I wanted to take it home .He said he needed to leave the plate at the table so the manager could come over . A manger never came over . While I finished my husbands fries as I had a fry in my hand another woman came over and took my plate and asked if I was done when she already had the plate in her hand. The service was not great I was very disappointed. I felt rushed . The Waiter did not speak a word to us and I wasn't even given the chance to order coffee a dessert drink or a regular dessert . I am SO very happy that I chose to have my husbands 60th birthday party at Anthony's Ocean View! First of all, the food was absolutely amazing and so delicious. Sometimes venues use too much salt in food preparation but not Anthony's! The service was second to none! I needed their help throughout the party because there were things I didn't know needed to be done such as when to serve the meal, the cake, the toast... just so professional and on top of everything. It seems like most experienced couples that have been married for a while will tell you that wedding venues are always just interested in getting your money and that's about it. Well, that sentiment certainly rang true with Anthony's Ocean View. Before I start my laundry list of complaints about the venue and its shortcomings, I will say that the grounds and views are absolutely breathtaking. It truly is a picturesque setting with colorful landscaping and exactly the kind of clean, modern beach feel its photos would suggest. It also offers a sort of all-inclusive "bang for your buck" strategy with its food and beverage packages. These two major selling points are certainly what made my (then) fiancée and I fall in love with it. However, after the venue hooks you with its stunning first impression, it is all downhill from there. We had a fairly lengthy engagement (almost 22 months) and found our venue early on in the process. That being said, we were paying clients of Anthony's for a year and a half, and our original wedding date was smack dab in the middle of the COVID-19 shutdowns (June 2020). At no point in time during that whole process did anyone ever reach out with a phone call. Even after the pandemic was in full swing we never so much as got an email to check in and give us an update on if we would have to reschedule our big day or not. Since we were not assigned a specific wedding planner from day one (we always dealt with whoever was there that day) we were given misinformation about what was available to us when deciding to postpone our wedding date. There was no logistical and safe plan in place for both guests and the wedding party on the day of the ceremony. While we could understand that there was only one tent-covered area that another wedding had already booked, there was no excuse for not providing enough safe outdoor accommodations such as propane heaters, which the dinner patrons had plenty of, mind you. As a bride, that lack of compassion and understanding was completely heartbreaking. The venue and its staff not only did a horrible job as a support system, but it ultimately resulted in the mishandling of details that mattered a great deal to us. We always felt rushed when speaking/planning with the staff, leaving the impression that they neither had the time or patience to care about our needs and wants. Unfortunately, its brazen lack of attention to details was made abundantly clear when our wedding ceremony did finally happen in September. Even with nearly two full calendar years to prepare, the venue seemed to entirely lack the appropriate amount of time or staff to have our event set up properly and running smoothly. Not only was there poor communication with us, but clearly poor communication between staff at the venue as well. We first met our maître d' five minutes AFTER the ceremony was scheduled to begin, and even after providing a very detailed schedule of events, he remained a very confused and incapable maître d'. Other than the incredible waitress assigned exclusively to the wedding party, there was such a lack of attentiveness to the bride and groom the entire evening, resulting in the guests of honor spending way too much time troubleshooting issues during their big night. Attended a Christmas party here today and they did a great job. I have been going here many years and they always do a good job. Their appetizers are alway good and plenty of them. The buffet had a lot of choices and they it was also very good. I prefer the buffet , because I like to taste lots of things. I've attend several events at Anthony's. I've hosted an event and attended others so this review will cover many areas. Not sure why I haven't reviewed this place as it is always 5 stars. My most recent visit was for the Father's Day Brunch. I waited until the day before to call for reservations (don't judge, life happens). The phone was answered quickly and within minutes, I was booked to attend the 1:30 seating for 3. Although they later realized they were booked, they honored my reservation. We arrived and was immediately in food heaven. I was full just looking at all of the selections. The best part is that was $40pp and abt half that for a minor. You couldn't beat the price. The waitstaff was very attentive. As soon as we left the table for rounds 2,3,4 and perhaps 5, our plates were cleared and napkins remolded. The food is always perfectly cooked, fresh and a taste of heave for everyone's palate. Did I say there was plenty off food? After brunch, we headed to the patio where there was a steel pan band playing. There was a cigar station and beverage bar for a small fee. Great event. If you're looking for a great brunch celebration for a great price, this is it. BEWARE! Find out in advance who else is renting space at the same time! Although someone could come along and rent space AFTER you. Our event, reserved months in advance, was RUINED by another group having INCREDIBLY LOUD music in the floor and patio beneath us! We asked that they work with the other group to simply reduce the boom-boom-boom base that shook the floor and actually kept us from hearing our own conversations. It would help for 15 minutes or so, then it was back. Our 75 person brunch with all the trimmings was delicious but could not really be enjoyed. From what they said, they knew in advance this group would be noisy. Yet they did nothing to help our event be more enjoyable. After the first hour everyone was taking Tylenol for headaches. For an expensive venue, this place did very poor planning in their overlap of events for the almighty dollar. Had it happened during a wedding, that would have been ruined as well. read more

Very upset with our experience at Anthony's Ocean view Friday night. Will never go back after the offensive comments made by the manager and do not recommend. Manager also pulled down his mask while talking and did not put it on when we asked him to. We were at party of 6 with a 7:30 reservation. After about an hour and a half after ordering, our food came out except for one meal. We all waited to eat until 35 minutes had passed and the waitress had not checked on us. They had mixed up one of the orders and the other wasn't brought out but they told us they could only comp one meal. We asked to speak to a manager, by 9:45 the manager came over- he was very unprofessional. We tried to explain the situation and when they would not budge or even acknowledge that service had been bad, he proceeded to take my plate and throw it in the trash. It was 10pm and we haven't eaten dinner. He was very judgmental, said that we wouldn't have left a tip anyway, and he has 600 other valuable customers so he does not care about our business. Plus he was pulling down his mask while talking to unhappy customers all night. When we asked him to put his mask on, he responded that we should have our masks on if we're not eating so why should he (we were sitting at the table with food in front of us). They then tried to charge us for the dish that the manager threw out. We had to stop at Wendy's on the way home since we did not all get to eat- wish we just went there in the first place! read more

Went here for New Years and paid $160 a person. I was so disappointed in the food and entrees that we're brought out. I am not one to write a bad review but the amount of money my boyfriend and I spent I just felt like we got robbed. Very bad quality. Most things were not even edible to me. Went to a wedding the other day. We were upstairs. First, food was excellent. Had cocktail hour on patio outside. Absolutely delicious! Went up for reception. A few issues. First, over 100 people and only a men's room with one toilet! Going up and down stairs to use facilities kinda lame. Spend a nickel and put in a urinal! Second, service was fair at best. Staff was more concerned with cleaning for next event than taking care of people who were there. Was told by bartender to find wait staff to get more water for table. Found them eventually. Went to a wedding recently and it's very impressive. You feel like you're in a 1000% more exotic location than you actually are. The staff was very nice, the location beautiful. The wedding was on the beach and the backdrop was the water with a bunch of boats floating serenely. The wedding package my friends got was incredible. Huge assortment of delicious appetizers outside as the cocktail hour, and then the most enormous buffet for dinner I've seen, and a HUGE HUGE dessert buffet after. I wish I could have gotten stomach enlargement surgery before, had I known. Went to a wedding here back in June in the upstairs hall and it was quite nice. Also rang in the New Year there last night at their public party downstairs. I prefer downstairs actually. Last night there were 600 people, but it didn't feel overcrowded. About $200 a couple. Open bar for 6 hours. Cocktail hour and a sit down dinner. Many bars were open so lines were minimal. My experience was so bad that I decided to give a review, my 1st time ever giving reviews and the reason why Is because it was my sons 15th birthday and restaurant manager and chef made it so unpleasant although pics taken at sunset came out beautiful so basically that's where that one star comes from. Birthday boy asked for an angus burger well done, when it came, the meat was red inside when he took a bite. I ordered from the special menu a filet mignon well done and it came almost burned I had to ask for lime to make it a little juicy. My mother in law asked for fried seafood and the breaded fish was raw on the inside. My brother asked for a plate that had shrimps includes and the shrimp was over cooked. When we complained to the waiter she involved the manager and the manager took all the dishes back to remade. My sons burger instead of giving a new piece they grabbed the undercooked burger, chef must of put it in the oven then put it back in the bun and served my son again. At that point the burger had shrunk and it was burned. It ruined my sons appetite. My brother got back the dinner with the shrimp again shrimp overcooked. My mother in law didn't want them to bring the dish back because the uncooked fish ruined her appetite but the manager still charged her for the plate because according to manager she offer to pick another plate from the menu and my mother in law refused as if it was an obligation. Fortunately since manager and chef made us waste so much time the good thing that came out of it was the sunset and my son was happy he took pics with his family. Restaurant itself the worst, they're just in a good location for pictures. That manager needs a new job, she sucks at what she does, I still can't believe she argued with my mother In law and charged her for a plate she returned and chef needs to get a food thermometer or something. -0 stars for restaurant if it was an option. If only the view was as good as the restaurant. Never have I received such TERRIBLE service from a restaurant in CT. Not only did it take over an HOUR for our party of 6 to get their food, they FORGOT to make one of our guests food. So that took another half hour and the server didn't even tell us what was going on. I ordered a medium rare filet mignon and it was practically just a piece of raw meat and the mashed potatoes could only be half eaten due to chunky/raw potato. Absolute disgrace read more

What a cool place to have an event. the patio and beachfront are awesome for photos. the apps were great; meat/cheese trays and marinated veggies on crusty bread. all were great. A friend of mine was supposed to get married in June 2020 here, paid in full (over $50k spent mind you) and because of COVID they refuse to just move the date to next year unless the couple pays another $17/person which is greedy and wrong during a crisis like this! They can't move the date later in the year because they want a summer wedding and they have that right! The venue also refuses to refund in full and is not doing anything to help or be compassionate in this situation. I will NEVER go there and use them for occasions after the way they are treating them. I saw on facebook there are others using the same venue that are having the same issue. I've gone to a few events at Anthony's work parties, Easter and recently Father's Day. I must say although all were fine, Father's Day beat them all. The food was superb, many meat selections, pig roast, veal, chicken, steak (which was wonderful) and also pastas, fish and mussels. Maybe because it was the first seating, everything was fresh, well stocked and we had many attendants asking if we needed more drinks, etc. The desserts were excellent but melting a bit in the humidity of the day. We enjoyed a short walk outside where they have a "cigar bar" for gentleman that wanted to smoke. This was my most enjoyable time there and will definitely be back in the future. read more

Hubby and I just had the pleasure and honor of traveling here to attend a wedding. FABULOUS!! The exotic island feel is amazing. It was a beachfront wedding with great weather and a spectacular view. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding experience. My husband and I just got married there two weeks ago, and from the day we took a look at the place to our wedding day, the staff was extraordinary. The day of the wedding, we were ushered into the bridal suite and immediately offered anything we could possibly need or want. My husband wanted a brand of beer that they didn't have on hand, but before he could even say he'd take a different kind, they'd found the beer at a different room's bar and handed it to him. We had the ceremony outside on the patio in front of a beautiful small pond and waterfall. Beautiful and intimate. We absolutely loved the space. When we wanted to take pictures on the beach after the ceremony, the banquet manager and an assistant carried my train, my flowers, and my shoes at various times for various reasons. They constantly made sure my husband and I had enough to eat and drink. I feel like they could read our minds and anticipate what we needed before we even knew ourselves. They also worked beautifully with the florist, DJ, photographers, and videographer. Everything was seamless--you can tell they take their jobs extremely seriously. My husband and I didn't eat much because we were a ball of nerves that day, but from the leftovers we ate the morning after and from feedback from our guests, the food was amazing. I had stuffed sole and roasted vegetables for breakfast the next morning, and it was absolutely delicious. Our reception room was lovely and had an entire wall of windows that looked out onto the harbor. I can't say enough good things about Anthony's. I even have my sister and her fiance convinced that they will have their wedding there now! I am hoping we'll attend some weddings or other events there in the future, because I would love to go back any time! read more

Holiday party at Anthony's and there were about 15 food stations... all of which lacked flavor from the maki rolls to the pasta a la vodka to the chicken wings to the stuffed breads to the crab cakes... on and on. I will never support this establishment! I tried to cancel three people out of a large party we had booked for Easter. I called on Thursday early afternoon. My son was admitted to a hospital so we needed to cancel. They will not refund us $150.00. How sad and callous that they really didn't care! 72 hours is a reasonable window to cancel in! For such a beautiful establishment it was the worst venue I have ever chosen due to the lack of customer service and professionalism all the way from the top from the owners all the way to the staff..... where do I begin? It was my big huge accomplishment company party I did not hear from my event coordinator until the day of to talk about what I wanted to do for the flow of things even after multiple calls and emails...... it's my big event I expect someone who can pay attention to detail and make me feel like a priority not a choice in that position... then later that day the balloon arch showed up no one knew where it was going the event coordinator had left for the day and when I called the front desk no one knew who was in charge of my party....... it was just one thing after another I finally arrived there we went through the party which the party was OK and I had left two boxes of our company cups that I had personally made we did let them know that we would be back to pick them up in a couple days I also sent an email what did the establishment do? Through all of my cups and keychains out and they tried to say that one of my staff gave the OK.... AWFUL AWFUL when they offered me a ridiculous $500 credit it was to come back and have a party at their establishment next year. Not over my dead body would I ever step foot on their property again after the way that I was treated the lack of detail that they had for my party and the lack of concern and the well-being of me as it Was one of the biggest nights of my life only to have it tarnished by this establishment. Place looked nice, service was completely awful. A joke. If they cannot handle a big party, wedding, and a bday party why allow us to make a reservation? Where do I start, server came over and was not friendly. Asked us for our drinks, got them 25 mins later. Repeatedly asked for water for 45 mins. Appetizers were ordered and took another 45 mins to come out. Calamari was great, the "high class" grilled cheese was good, then we got the Arancini. Came with two small rice cones. Enough for a baby to eat. Food finally came out. Two steaks were asked to be cooked medium they were literally raw not cooked in the center. We eat meat medium rare but these steaks were literally mooing. The Zuppa da pest meal whatever that was had one piece of shrimp, no calamari, and the clams were dead and not opened. Two people got chicken piccata with pasta. It came out with mashed potatoes and no pasta (we asked for the pasta for 45 mins). Then another Person got muscles over linguini with red sauce. Three times this meal was brought out wrong!! The pasta literally wasn't cooked. At the end of the night, food was shit, service was shittier. By the way we got our pasta to go and a new muscles and linguini when we were getting up to leave. Maybe they should stick to catering or events or higher more staff to make a more enjoyable evening.
