This location has bad customer service. Got there tonight at 7:30 ... they close at 8pm. As Soon as my boyfriend and I entered the store, one of the workers closed the door and blew out all of the candles... they shortly turned off the music and I was later told, while trying on clothes, that they would be closing 15 minutes early today. Feeling very rushed, I quickly finished trying on what I had, but after I left the dressing room, I was told that they were again now open until 8pm. She waited to tell me this until I had already rushed through trying everything on. For such expensive clothing, I resented feeling pressured to make a very rushed decision when I should've had half an hour to decide on what I wanted to get. I ended up being so annoyed by the experience that i didn't buy some jeans that i otherwise would have gotten. This is not even the first bad experience I have had here. I shouldn't feel like an inconvenience for coming in during business hours to buy clothes. Pretty bare minimum expectation. read more

If I had a first born, I'd trade that little DevilBaby in for the ceramic plates, saucers, cups, bowls, and dishes with octopi and other sea life on it. Swoon. Or at least, would be swoon... if the price tag didn't bring me right back to reality. Anthropologie's mixture of shabby, chic, and lux have this girl praying she was born with a little silver spoon, but thankfully she's got two able legs to walk her back to the much more affordable clearance section in the far back room so she can pretend she's part of the upper crust. For years I had been telling myself that I wasn't a fan, that it was all too feminine, and doing that thing I always do where I tell myself I don't have to buy something because "I could make that on my own." Well, yesterday I came to grips with the fact that I am SO a fan, it's the perfect combo of fun and feminine, and I even if I *could* make it, I know I won't. Do you hear that sound? It's me caving in. Men: If you need to find your mother, your daughter, your woman, or someone else's woman (you dirty dog, you) a gift, this is THE place. I will never return to this location. The staff was incredibly rude when we stepped foot into this store. From the moment we stepped in, we were blatantly disregarded, and we most likely would've been ignored the entire time if we hadn't asked for help. Then, when we asked for help with an item we inquired about, we were judged for inconveniencing them. From the worker's tone to her consistent attitude, I was belittled as if it wasn't her job to help customers, and it wasn't one employee who had an attitude. It was three of the four employees we encountered. I'm a long-time customer of the brand, but this experience was all around terrible to the point where I will no longer shop at this location. read more

Love this Anthropologie! I think the store has the best selection of all of the stores I've been to in the Chicago area. Yes, it's on the pricey side, but you get one of a kind pieces. I love Anthropologie's dresses. When I'm looking for a date night dress or a wedding guest dress, I usually end up at Anthropologie. I just recently purchased two summer dresses on clearance. Yes! I really like the jewelry too. Many unique pieces, and most of the time they go on sale. The home decor is awesome too! A touch of vintage and farmhouse! The candles smell amazing too. They "took down my information" but never did anything to fix it. Called again this week. Still have the double charge posted to my checking account. Really unacceptable that this happened. Forget black Friday. Anthropologie kept my hands busy while I waited for Neiman Marcus to open at 9 today. Bad, bad, bad. Their clearance section was full of nifty finds and stocking stuffers. So what if I can't wear the summer clothes right now? I mean, that's why I have a walk in closet, right? Wonderful friendly staff that wraps everything in tissue paper (that I also reuse for gifts) is another reason I really love Anthropologie. This place is suffering from an identity crisis. It appears Urban Outfitters, William Sonoma, and your grandmother's closet just had a head-on collision. There are some great clothes here. But a tank top I looked at was $78. At Urban, it would've been more like $40, and at Old Navy more like $25. There is a huge markup on the clothing here, but every once in awhile it's worth it for that well-made, unique item. I can't say much for their accessories or kitchenware. The kitchenware all seemed more decorative than anything else. Or it's for women who don't use their kitchens and want really nice stuff to make it look like they do. Employees are helpful in the fitting rooms and overall nice. One of my "must go here when at Oak Brook" staples. read more

LOVE the clothes here but I am definitely not one to buy a $200 pair of jeans when that money could go to something more practical. This is just one more reason I love this store - great customer service. Recently I purchase a dress from them. I had only worn it a few times when I noticed a seam split on one side. Now there was no reason this should have happened since it fits me perfectly fine. Upon my discovery of the split seam I called the store and asked to speak to a manager. I explained that I had only worn the garment a few times and I just wanted to see if they'd reimburse me for the repair vs. returning it. The manager said they'd have no problem doing that for me. All I had to do was bring in my alteration receipt and they would do a price adjustment. It made me feel good to know they are willing to stand behind their products in the event they don't stand up to the normal quality standards I've come to expect. What a unique shopping experience! I have been in love with Anthropologie for many years. In my experiences, I have learned to purchase accessories, home goods, or linens. I agree with a lot of the comments here: that the clothes are beautiful and shabby chic. That they are. Unfortunately, for me, I have had the same experience happen to me when I purchase their amazing clothes...they always shrink after a year. Now, I take extreme care of my clothes. I never dry them and I use delicate soap on most items. So, I know it's not my washing/wearing. I'm sure it's the fabrics that are used. So, over the years, I have sadly given my Anthropologie clothing to my now-13-year-old niece for her to enjoy their chic style. I have many kitchen items from here: measuring cups, spoons, tea towels, bowls, plates, s&p shakers, etc. I have also purchased door knobs, table linens, napkins, scarves, purses, belts, etc. It's always fun to come here, even if it is to browse. But if you go regularly, that item that you desire so much will typically go on sale soon after. My advice...go and see what you like and come back for it when it is on sale. read more

O Anthro you hurt my heart for the sad fact that I cant afford you:(I visit this store every freakin chance I get but I only buy here every once in a while, and I'm not gonna lie its usually when my kick butt mama is buying! The clothes are beautiful and unique along with the array of jewelry,books, housewares, accessories, candles, and lingerie. Everything is very earthy which I love if it has an animal or tree on it I wanna buy it. So needless to say I want to purchase 94-95% of the store! The employees are super cute and friendly.They all dress in Anthro stuff and usually are very stylish. Very much appreciated! Probably my favorite store to shop at. Period. Just today I bought sunglasses and a wonderfully scented candle. I can't stop in every time I come to this mall, because if I did then I'd be one broke lady. The possibilities are endless as far as the clothing, accessories and housewares. I also think one area where they are severely underrated are their books. I've found so many interesting books that look like they were hidden in a nook. One star off for the service, or maybe it was just my particular visit, but the salespeople were not very helpful. Their approach is usually very "hands off" and I do like that, but if I ask a question, it'd be nice to put in a little more effort to help me out! As far as service, I think I prefer the Anthropologie on Southport. However, this store is closer to me, so I'll keep visiting! read more

This store has the best candles I've ever smelled. You will never want to buy scented candles from Bath & Body Works, Yankee, or CVS/Walgreens/Target ever again once you smell these babies. Not only do they have scents like "Angel Food Cake" and "Cinnamon Vanilla," but they all come in colorful, aesthetically pleasing tins or glass jars that really add a pop of color to the room. The only con here is that the candles, like just about everything else in this unique, earthy store, are pretty pricey. The annoying thing is, the stuff isn't "I can't afford that" pricey - it's "I can buy this but I'll feel kinda guilty afterward" pricey. UGH! Gets me just about every time... (though I maintain that my $18 one-wick candle was totally worth it). I really want to buy an apron, some curtains, and some decorative pillows from here. And a rug. And at least one lampshade. And some plates and cups. And then there are the clothes... For those on a budget (like moi!), weave your way to the back left-hand corner, where they have sale clothes and shoes, or walk halfway in and look on the right-hand side of the store, where they have sale decorations, kitchen items and knickknacks. The Oakbrook Anthropologie needs new management. This store is dyfunctional and dirty. Its unusual to me that they sell such beautiful and expensive pieces yet their are dust bunnies in every corner. The managers just walk around and act like they are doing something when in reality they are just walking in circles. If you need to use the bathroom don't ask! The bathroom is gross and smells bad! a more 'sophisticated' concept in the urban outfitter company there's usually something nice to get in the sales racks so my strategy for shopping at anthro is to first check out the stuff on sale and then browse the rest of the shop. most of the clothes they sell are unique in design and well made. they also carry nice handbags and other accessories as well as housewares... most of the housewares are really not something i'd decorate my own home with, but they are tasteful and good for gift options. read more

No petite section and poor customer service. I never get greeted here and last time I was in, there was no petite section. Either they got rid of it or only certain stores carry it now. I'm pretty sure this store used to have one and I'm disappointed they got rid of it. Not coming back seeing as the clothes are gigantic on me. read more

I do love anthropologie in general. They have an amazing pieces as well as adorable toys that I buy my son from time to time. Now this location is small compared to the ones in the city. Having said that, not all the pieces you see online is available in here. They also do not sell shoes here anymore aside from the returns. They have a few kids things while huge selection of sale pieces and home stuff. Fitting rooms are always neat and clean but small. The only downside on this location, customer service. The ladies here are snobby and rude. When you go in, you're on your own. You help yourself and when you ask questions, they will rush you and act annoyed as you are interrupting their chit chatting from their colleagues. I hope anthropologie will learn and address this to their current and future employees. It really does make a difference as I love the store but hate how the employees treats their customers. read more

Just look at their store online and saw the prices drop to half price in about 3 weeks or so! you will find some Different looks than Macys or other Larger Chain Stores (Not a Macys girl really).. The staff at this store is extremely nice! I've always been greeted with politeness regardless if i appeared to look as if i'm going to purchase things or not! .. Plain and simple, I love this store. It's one of the few places where 20-something's and 50-something's can shop and find something that will look adorable on them or look so nice in their home. While the prices are not always for the faint-hearty, the sales, esp. the additional 30%-50% off sales, can be quite a steal. I like that the designs hail from all over the world and there's little, if any, redundancy. If something "looks Anthro-ish" you won't see that exact item over and over again. I like that everything has a certain newness yet is classic at the same time. I'm still getting new compliments from things I bought there 4 and 5 yrs ago. Anthro's Aspen Bay line of candles are the best overall that I've seen or smelled anywhere. The scent is natural, not overpowering, yet I can smell that a candle has been lit. Most of all, they don't give me a migraine like just about every other brand does. The candles make great gifts, too! read more

This is a great store to shop for great quality, unique tops and dresses. I always get greeted immediately and with a smile. The return/exchange program is wonderful! Janice is extremely helpful and always finds me wonderful pieces to put together. I wear a size 6 and they fit perfectly! No need for alterations. I am always drawn to this store because of the unique merchandise, but I often leave empty handed because of the bad, indifferent vibe from the salespeople. It's one of those stores I predict could go out of business because of the attitude factor. I just can't buy stuff if looking at it later is going to remind me of a snarky or snobby experience. While I think the clothes are fun, few fit me because they are designed for a size 6 hipless silhouette. So I don't even look at them. But I like the housewares and tactile items (rugs, handstiched lampshades, journals, and vintage-inspired drawer pulls, etc). I wish the people who worked in the store understood the artistic open-mindedness that the merchandise seems to be tapping into. Anthropologie will not last, in my opinion, unless they start training their staff to be much more customer-oriented, like Nordstroms, or Trader Joes. Last night I was the third person in line and waited for over 10 minutes while the cashiers slow-ly and confusedly rang up the two people ahead of me.
