From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and gave us a wonderful, authentic Italian experience. One of our favorite parts was how patient everyone was with us as we practiced our Italian. They encouraged us, helped us along, and happily switched to English whenever we needed a little help. They even took the time to explain the menu, what we should order, and when certain dishes are traditionally enjoyed. It made the experience feel much more personal and gave us a little taste of everyday Italian culture. And the food was every bit as good as the service! Everything we tried was delicious, the portions were very generous, and the prices were excellent--especially compared with some of the other places we've visited during our trip. Ordered wild porcini mushrooms fettuccine, wild mushrooms are actually canned mushrooms which overpowered the dish with canned juices, vinegar flavoured pasta is t something you want to pay 19€. My friends and I saw this restaurant on Gwyneth Paltrow's list of Rome favorites, and it did not disappoint! Our waiter was attentive and picked us out a few bottles of delicious (and more importantly, inexpensive) wine for us to share. Shelves of wine bottles adorn the brick walls inside the restaurant, and the staff selects your bottle right in front of you. The food was next level. Truffle croquettes were freshly fried, and the authentic pasta dishes were insanely tasty (heavy hand of salt may have had something to do with it). My veal meatballs served with mushrooms were tender and flavorful, but the pasta was actually better. I definitely recommend this restaurant, especially if you score a table outdoors. read more

Stopped here with 5 friends and was excited for some classic Italian dishes. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to realize that despite the significant price tag, the food was well below average. The table bought 5 pasta dishes, and all of them were undercooked and chewy. Tap water came with a price tag as well, and the toasted bread cost €3 for one small slice. When we explained the problem with our pasta dishes to the manager, he didn't bat and eye and put his hands up like he was offended by our bad experience. Being right next to a road and surrounded by pigeons, the ambiance isn't exactly pristine. Steer clear from this place, better options are only a couple blocks away! read more

You'd expect recommendations to be stuff food that the restaurant has too much of or the higher priced items. Not the case here. He asked what I liked & he pointed out the best dish for me. Easy when it's a limited menu, not so easy when the menu is as extensive as here. I choose local Roman foods & I was not disappointed in the least. The dessert Tiramisu (obviously) was the best that I've tasted outside of my wife's. The complimentary lemoncello was the best I've had outside of my own. It's obviously homemade and it's very good. We walked here our first night in Rome. They sat us at a table outside and the weather was perfect. We ordered the funghi pizza and prosciutto and mozzarella calzone, salads and Chianti - all excellent. The house Chianti was a great value. I will be dreaming of that pizza when I am back home. So I'm in Roma with some friends, and we're killing the restaurant scene. In the seven days we have been here, this was by far the best - by far. I ordered the traditional Sunday dinner for Italian's - lasagna. Oh, did I mention that the lasagna is a homemade house special? It is. My lasagna was accompanied with a Caesar salad, and a glass of Ludola Nuova 2012 Ruffino. Lasagna - I have never had a better lasagna. The Caesar salad was amazingly on point as well. Tiaramisu was the best I've had. To wrap this up... My friend ordered the Amaretto Simifreddo. I was jealous after I tasted it. We had 8 people at the table, and no one could get enough... I ordered the eggplant Parmesan, the caprese salad, and the Caesar salad. The eggplant dish was my highlight, perhaps because of its elegance and simplicity. It had grilled slices with tomato sauce, olive oil, and mozzarella - absolutely delicious. The caprese salad was good, but nothing special. I did not enjoy the Caesar salad, and I would recommend going with a lighter pasta instead if you are feeling health conscious. The penne arrabiata had high reviews from my friends. On our first day in Rome, after being in sweltering heat and exhausted, we passed by this place on our hop-on-hop off tour bus and thought it looking charming. Came here for the ambiance! We were worried it might be a tourist trap since a lot of the diners were tourists but were pleasantly surprised by dinner which included the carbonara and tiramisu for desert. I waited forever for my Waiter to ask me about another glass of wine and finally I had to flag another waiter . This Trattoria was close to our rental, so after a long day of sight seeing it was nice to find something nearby. The seating outside is situated on a small plaza with a park and is very nice. The main reason why I give three instead of four stars is our starter. We ordered the mussels to start, which were not to my liking. They weren't seasoned and tasted like they were only cooked in sea water. I couldn't eat any...I guess I prefer french style mussels. My husband had lamb as his main and liked it very much. I ordered a salad which was very good. Been in Rome for about a week now while eating very well throughout. This place was recommended to me by a friend who actually held his wedding reception here. His words were, "Nothing fancy, just really good food." He was not lying. The atmosphere was nice, outdoor seating on a small piazza with low traffic. Staff were extremely cheerful and helpful and at the same time not in any way overbearing while I waited for the rest of our party, which took a while because they went to the wrong place. We started with Prosciutto and Mozzarella, 4 Cheese Bruchetta, Bruchetta with Tomatoes and Fried Mozzarella with Cinnamon. Great anti-pasti. Wine fair priced and the staff made good recommendations. I also asked for recommendations on the meal and the staff nailed it. I had a veal steak with potatoes and a community bowl of Spaghetti Carbonara. The veal steak was unbelievable it practically fell apart and the white wine sauce was light but flavorful. It was cooked to perfection. The carbonara was cooked well and the bacon in the pasta was flawless. For dessert my friend recommended the Semifredda all'amaretto which is like a semi frozen amaretto ice cream with chocolate but this at the same time is not at all a good way to describe it. All I can say is that after a week of eating Rome this was the absolute best dessert in Rome. Right now I am sitting at the table still enjoying a coffee and good conversation.
