Also recommended to dine here by our hotel staff and it wasn't the best experience. As a group of four we came for dinner (6pm) and we did not have reservations. We were told we could sit outside. Another person in our party asked for inside seating but we were told outside only. No biggie. Our server was ok. He seemed to be irritated in general. He presented the chalkboard and went over the specials but we had already chosen our entrees from the standard menu. Two of the ladies wanted to split an appetizer but the waiter kept insisting that it was intended for one person and that ordering just one wouldn't be enough to share. They went ahead with the single order and it was plentiful. Water was 3 euro per vase and the spritz was 15 euro. For entrees we got two orders of the Linguine and two orders of the spaghetti. Prior to the food coming out they brought out a complimentary bread basket. It had 5 slices of bread and then some smaller round breadsticks. The pastas came out shortly after. Presentation was beautiful but the actual pasta dish (I had the lemon linguine) wasn't my favorite. The dish was cold and the noodles were overly hard. It was creamy but had hardly any lemon flavor. The table next to us, a larger group ordered several orders of the lemon linguine and the chef himself came out to greet them and then plated the pasta outside for everyone to see. They were a group of 6 vs our 4. He spoke to them and the table next to us but never acknowledged us. It felt kind of weird. At the end of our meal we asked for to go boxes and the check. We asked to pay separately and the server was visibly upset at our request. We ended out working the payment out amongst ourselves (Venmo-ing each other and such) to lesson the burden. All the comments on this page are correct. WAY too pushy. I am disappointed with the Visconti hotel who continues to push this restaurant. The food was fine, the pasta was fresh, caprese salad was tasty, the octopus was amazing... but the waitstaff is way over the top pushy. We all laughed because we read the reviews and thought going in, knowing how the service was... we would be fine. We were fine but it was hilarious to see letting the men down as we went with the menu. There are more authentic places (next door) and this was fine... nothing earth shattering in a city with many good restaurants. The lemon plates are cool. read more

Found this little gem of a restaurant while walking around the streets near our hotel, looking for a place to eat. Was hungry and saw the menu outside; decided to give it a try. This place scams Americans. They try to push you to more expensive items with unclear prices. Sort for low reviews on google and this is clear. Worse than that is the incredibly unprofessional and dishonest replies they post in response to reviews. There isn't some coordinated effort of tourists who don't understand fine dining out to get this restaurant. If they want to be so upset by negative feedback they should fire deceptive wait staff and do better read more

We were referred to this place by Roberto at the TIM store. Our first dinner in Rome. Hilight of the meal was the pasta carbanara with the pork jowls. Service was good, definitely Italian speed. Did love the new "warmed" plates with each course. So, in the beginning there was about a 15 minute span where the waiter didn't come by. I figured "were on Italian time". Then we go to order, and he makes a suggestion. It's a T-Bone, special from Tuscany. Me being from Texas, I hesitate. I'm here in Italy for Italian things. When I do hesitate, "what you don't like meat?" A few more urges, so I order. Making a rookie move, I don't ask "how much". Everything else on the menu is between 6 and 22 euro, so I figure 40 at most. He goes off, has a smoke. He had 3 or 4 during the meal. So, the steak cones out, yes it's huge, plated on a really really cool platter sized plate. Then at the end, time for dessert...I say, " no thanks, it's a little late, no coffee either". 10 minutes later, after another smoke, "any coffee", no thank you, a little late. "You don't like coffee?" --- Just the check. Time for another cigarette. So, the bill comes. And it's 80 euro for the steak. Reeeeaaallyyy. Shame on me... but shame on him. He won at trick the American. All in all, service was lousy, bread tasted worse than American bread, but they did have warm plates!! read more

BEWARE! Do not order off the chalkboard or whatever the waiter recommends! They push food on you then shock you when you get the bill! $40 for a salad! And it didn't even taste good. Extremely pretentious. They acted put out that I didn't have a reservation yet the entire restaurant was empty. After waiting several minutes they finally seat me and yet the entire time through my meal, the restaurant hardly had anyone else seated. Then the pushy waiter insists repeatedly on my trying their fresh salad. It was not on the menu. It was on a chalkboard with no price on it. That's how they rip off the foreign travelers. It was expensive mushrooms with a couple pieces of arugula, and hardly any dressing. I choked it down out of politeness. I never would've said yes to that salad if he had told me it was €40. And the meat was tough and dry! Then two waiters got in an argument, right in front of my table. This was my first meal in Italy! I had been warned about the pickpockets, but I didn't know they would come in the form of a restaurants business process. When I spoke with the woman manager. Her attitude was tough luck. We were recommended this place by our hotel. Now to be fair we have had amazing food in Florence and Alba so our bar was very high. But unfortunately this place did not make the cut. The staff was very friendly but quite pushy to order more, and anything one person order they would bring for the other guest as well. A delightful dining experience near the hotel Le Meridien Visconti and Vatican City. The restaurant is small but charming with a wonderful atmosphere. It specializes in pasta and fresh seafood. It was a nice selection of wines. The staff are friendly and eager to explain dishes and make recommendations. We had one of these best meals we had in Rome at the restaurant for Valentine's Day. Absolutely incredible one of the best meals of our lives. The Decour is fantastic and the service was also excellent.

Enjoyed our meal but a couple of odd things, with waiter pushing a few items. But main thing was that the sea bass on menu was 22 euros but said we'd have to make 2 orders since he had a nice fresh one and he'd debone at table. Price came and it turned out to be 80 euros, almost double expected price. Actually price didn't bother me so much as deceptive practices. And another anomaly was bringing wine before the wine menu and saying it was the same one I had planned to order. Odd. BTW: almost all Americans there, didn't hear any Italian spoken. read more

My family and I were visiting Rome from California recently and the concierge at our hotel recommended this ristorante. We were so fortunate for this recommendation because our dinner here was AMAZING! Eduardo, the owner and chef visited our table before we ordered to provide us with the evening's specials and background about himself and the ristorante. He was so pleasant and welcoming and he really set the stage for a great dining experience. We ordered two appetizers which were both incredible and we enjoyed a great bottle Casalle Della Iora. Our main plates were beyond compare. My wife and daughter had the lemon flavored pasta (can't recall the exact name) and my son ordered the carbonara and they haven't stopped talking about it for the past week. I had the fettuccini and it was incredible as well. At the end of the evening we asked Eduardo to please come to California and open a restaurant close to our home!
