An invigorating culinary experience in Rome. Delightful establishment provided window seating to allow a good view of the area. It is off the main road and is not heavily populated with tourists. The rigatoni was fabulous with a robust sauce. The blue crab ravioli provided a punch of spice and a full crab, no filler flavor. The meatballs served as the main course consisted of three pieces. They were bursting with flavor. A heavy hint of vegetables and their distinctive "crunch" could be felt bursting through the texture - fantastic. Accompanied by a basket of sourdough bread. With 3 glasses of wine, only 80 euro. A bargain. Our young server was friendly. The only negative was the manager, was clearly callous toward Americans. When asked for recommendations, he would not provide any other than to refer to the menu, he was correct though, everything was outstanding. read more

Small casual restaurant with great food and good (B+) service. My favorite dish was the creme brûlée. The lamb chops were over done (asked for medium rare and received medium/well. It wasn't seasoned very well. The wine list was of decent size BUT not a lot of glasses and or half-bottles. The bruschetta was good and had anchovies as a main/unique flavor. We made reservations for dinner here as it was close to our hotel and based on some reviews we saw. FYI they do not honor Yelp check in offer and in fact two staff members said they " have no idea what that is" when I showed them the offer. Otherwise the menu is quite limited and wine is mostly sold by bottle. Serving size is small for example our order of meatballs included 3 so the waitress had recommended we order a side as well. We went with veggie of the day which turned out to be broccoli. This was basically blanched, close to being overdone without any seasoning at all it seemed. The meatballs were bland as well and the soft texture was off putting but perhaps that's how meatballs are done here. We had a pasta dish that was recommended in many reviews - the amatriciana. This is tomato based with guanciale and cheese. This dish was so salty it was nearly unpalatable. I wish they cut back on either meat or cheese as both contributed to salting the dish. Overall food was not worth the price unfortunately. This is a skip for me. Service was alright. read more

A great way to start a meal. Next, I dove right into my pasta dish. Potato dumplings with tomatoes, capers, and olives. The pasta was tender and homemade, the perfect amount of starch and earthy potato flavor. Mixed with the garden freshness of tomatoes, the spiciness of the capers and the salty sweetness of the olives, this dish was delectable. My main course was a dish of perfectly cooked sliced beef, seasoned with black pepper. The meat was tender and juicy, probably one of the best slices of beef I've had. Because dessert is my weakness, I also indulged in a saffron and honey cream Millefeuille, which was flaky and filled with the herbal cream. It was so delicious I was almost too filled to enjoy the Crème Brûlée. Almost. With a crisp sugar shell that cracked as I tapped my spoon to it, this was the perfect ending to a beautiful dinner. Just got back from Rome, and Enosteria was the last supper of a long trip through Italy. It was Sunday night. We didn't want anything too pretentious, but we were hoping for good food. The YELP reference were helpful - and it was all everyone said. Not to far from the Spanish steps and but doesn't give off a touristy vibe. But there were many more tourists than locals the night we went. We arrived early, they were just opening, and my husband was starved. Waiter was very attentive even though he probably had to do a million things to get the place ready. We asked the chef to make our plates special, and he did - so very flexible, and deep sense of customer service. There was a very large table with kids next to us. It could have been a disaster, as the place is rather small, but the chef/waiter kept them fed and watered so they were content. Wine list was acceptable, but not being a connoisseur, I opted for a glass of pinot griglio listed on the wall. It was a perfect companion. Waiter wasn't fussy if we ordered a glass or a bottle. Dessert was a little underwhelming, basically Lava Cake, but there were so many good things about the place, we will recommend and come back next time in Rome. read more

Fantastic dinner! My mother and I ate her on our trip to Rome as a last minute place, since the restaurant I wanted to take her to was not open, and it was amazing! We called ahead in case we needed a reservation, which we didn't need, but it would be a good idea if you are worried about crowds-especially during the summer months. The manager/owner waited on us and he was very friendly and polite, and spoke perfect English. We ordered a bottle of a 2013 Merlot from the region we are in and it was extremely good. Not a bad price either, about 17 euros. I enjoyed the chicken, fennel, and mandarin orange salad, and my mother had the spaghetti with Parmesan and bacon on top. For dessert we had the dessert of the day (it was a surprise) and it was like a caramel flan, a perfect size for 4 euro, and it was just right after a big meal! I definitely recommend this restaurant while you are in Rome, either for lunch or for dinner! :) read more

My wife and I were on vacation in Rome over the holidays this year and were looking for a place to have dinner on New Years Eve. We probably should have researched this before leaving the States, but left it until the last minute. We had actually made a reservation at another restaurant on Capo le Case, but decided we didn't like their New Years Eve menu, and when we were walking down the street trying to come up with a plan B, we came across En Osteria. We looked at their menu, which seemingly had two choices per course and decided that it was where we were going to spend New Years. After arriving at the restaurant at 8:30pm and ordering a bottle of prosecco, we were wondering when the waitress was going to ask for our choices. To our amazement, we found that we were being served EVERYTHING on the menu!! These were not small dishes either. By the second course we were actually starting to get a little bit full, as all of the food was so amazing that we ate everything on our plates! By the last course, we were running out of steam, yet still found the appetite to finish our meal. At midnight along with dessert we were treated to another glass of champagne. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. We happened to be the only Americans in the the restaurant....everybody else seemed to be locals, which is typically a sign of a good restaurant. I would highly recommend en Osteria to anybody living in or traveling to Rome. It's a short walk from the Trevi Fountain, but certainly not overrun with tourists. They have wonderful food and wine and very reasonable prices considering the quality of the food. The next time I'm in Rome we'll definitely be back!! read more

This is a wonderful restaurant. Small and unique. Sit at the table for two in the window if you like to people watch. The endive filled with ricotta on greens was amazing. The spaghetti with fresh tomatoes was to die for. My wife had wine by the glass ... The waiter seemed knowledgable, the selection was big and unique, the price was reasonable for the wine and overall dinner . If this place was close to home it would be a go to restaurant . I started to give it 4 stars but it's hard to imagine what they could have done better so I'm going with 5. The atmosphere is divine. Take me back now ! read more

Been traveling in Europe for two weeks... Paris, Switzerland and Italy... This was the best by far! One of the best meals I've ever had including French Laundry and Joel Rubichon... not saying that it's a true fine dining experience... but when you think about great food, great service and value... this may have been the best I've ever had. Everyone in my family felt this was the best meal we had during our two week stay in Europe. I still dream about the pasta special that I had and my son -- who had a different special -- said he could have eaten five servings. This restaurant is not a place I would recommend. The food did not live up to the expectations of earlier reviews. The lamb I ordered was nicely seasoned but dry, and my partners' sliced beef was all right but not standing out from our earlier food experiences in Rome. Personally I don't think that the food is worth the money. Also, the service was slow even though the restaurant wasn't even full. We arrived just after another company left. The waiter seated us at their table but it took about 20 minutes before it was set again and another 15 just to order the food and wine we wanted. When the waiter came back and told me that they were out of the wine that I had ordered he recommended another wine that was three times as expensive (and no, I did not order the cheapest wine to begin with). When I asked for another recommendation in a similar price range of the first one he didn't have one to give. Lastly, in case you decide to go to this place despite my recommendation not to, and least consider this. DO NOT book a table close to the toilette. It reeks of sewer and mold and will ruin your dining experience. At least I was lucky enough to be seated at the other side of the room. read more

We found this restaurant after visiting the Spanish Steps close by - it was our last night in Rome and looking for a great place to finish our trip. We arrived with a group of friends so fortunate enough to sample a good selection of dishes. For pasta, we ordered the mezze maniche with bacon and ewe cheese and a lasagna type dish (they were out of lasagna so this was the substitution the server gave us). Both dishes were excellent! I loved the mezze maniche - the pasta was cooked to perfection - just slightly el dente with a very slight hint of crunch. The sauce was very flavorful yet not heavy with oil like other places. Our lasagna type dish was also excellent - the sauce was very flavorful. Our friends ordered the regular lasagna and they gave it an excellent review also. Our main course was the roasted lamb and veal. Both dishes were excellent - it was seriously that good! Again, they have a way of making the food extremely flavorful without the heaviness. After eating a pasta dish and main course, I didn't feel bloaty or weighed down like other places. We finished off with dessert and had the tiramisu and the warm chocolate cake. The tiramisu is amazing - very light and smooth and beaming with flavor. The cake was also great and served as a perfect complement to the tiramisu because it is a heavier on the chocolate side (inside had a nice chocolate filling - probably called a chocolate lava cake in Canada and America). My only complaints are: 1) service was a bit on the slower side - we were there during peak dinner time so won't be too picky on this and 2) the servings are a touch on the smaller side compared to other places we've been to. All in all, this place is definitely, without question, a winner and a worthy place to check out for a true Italian dining experience. read more
