We had dinner here our first night in town and WOW!! Started with some local white and red wine with the steak tartare, which was incredible. Had a couple of pastas, then onto the star of the show which was the bistecca. Absolutely incredible meal. We also had the deer which was fab as well. The service was superb. Our impromptu lunch here might be the best meal we had in Italy...and that is saying something! We shared the Buffalo mozzarella, the sliced beef with Parmesan cheese, rocket and balsamic reduction and the ciambotta stewed vegetables. They were all outstanding as was the service. Seriously if this place was closer I would go back again tomorrow. If you happen to be in the area visiting the Parco Archeologico di Paestum I recommend paying this place a visit. Weak translation: Il nostro pranzo improvvisato qui potrebbe essere il miglior pasto che abbiamo avuto in Italia ... e questo sta dicendo qualcosa! Abbiamo condiviso la mozzarella di bufala, la carne affettata con parmigiano, rucola e riduzione di balsamico e le verdure ciambotta in umido. Erano tutti eccezionali come era il servizio. OHMYGOD! OHMYGOD! OHMYGOD! This is one of the best meals I've ever had! Hubby and I shared the buffalo mozzarella, the stewed vegetables, and the sliced beef with parmesan, arugula, and balsamic reduction. We moaned through the entire meal. The service was impeccable, a constant in Italy, and the ambiance was wonderful. The building had to be 500 years old and might have been much older. The entire village was charming. If you are looking for a beautiful steak and something a little different in this part of Italy, this place is it. Lovely little restaurant . The staff didn't speak much English, but we figured out some complicated and delicious orders! Our group had the grilled artichoke, Puntarella salad, fennel and blood orange salad, several pastas and steaks. The steak menu is simply amazing. Fine cuts from all over the world. They're delivered rare and with little cast iron hot plates so you can further cook portions to your liking. I was coerced into sharing my colleague's simple pasta with tomatoes and what was going to be just a bite turned into me devouring the whole thing. I wasn't feeling like meat and ordered the spinach and saffron ravioli, which was really special. Of course you can't have a meal here without Buffalo mozzarella, and this was the best I had on my whole trip--and I sampled a lot of it! Really a special place. I highly recommend! read more

We stumbled on this lovely restaurant on the way back from the Paestum ruins and were delighted with our choice. The service was efficient and friendly and the food was outstanding. The local T bone steak was perfectly prepared touched with rock salt on a hot plate still sizzling. The caprese was fresh and the tomatoes were sweet and tasty. The mortadella was not sliced but in blocks roasted with a pistachio crust. The steak was accompanied by a ricotta ravioli with a pesto sauce and aubergine in a tomato sauce. All were elegantly presented and the flavors were subtle and unique. The best of all were the prices. We have been so use to the higher prices of Milan, Florence, Sorrento that were were floored that this meal was relatively inexpensive. Antiche Mura is highly recommended. read more

We chose this restaurant our first night in Paestum because it was close to our hotel and we were sick of pizza. We were greeted with care even though we arrived at 7 , and they were not completely ready for dinner service. The food and wine selections were terrific, and included a small taste starter, amazing hot dinner rolls and special cookies with our dessert. We look veg it so much we came back the next night, when we were served Prosecco and two small tastings before our dinner. Two of out party were not feeling well and did not want wine, so our host graciously served the other two wine by the glass. Our only regret is that we had but two evenings in Paestum. Otherwise we would open an account and be here every night for the rest of our lives. Very, very special! read more
