Baked turkey , collard Greens, Mac and cheese

new soul food restaurant in south miami/cutler bay area.. across from the southland mall. The staff here is hard working and care about providing great service and a good meal. Because of the pandemic and the fact that they are still getting the restaurant ready for the grand opening they have been operating on limited hours as they finish up hiring and business preparations. I ordered the mac and cheese, baked turkey, and collard green.... everything tasted great esp the collard greens. Think next I want to try out the ribs.

Baked Chicken, Yellow rice & baked Mac N Cheese $16

I arrived 2 hours before the closing time so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with food, but let's get into it.....First off the food presentation was not presentable, it looked as if it was sitting there for a while, dried not stirred, some of the sides we barely anything in the containers so I'm not sure why they didn't remove them off the steam table and still proceeded to show them to the customers. I still wanted to support the restaurant and ordered the yellow rice (which was a bit hard, no taste) baked chicken & double Macaroni and cheese which I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for because it was being baked at the time (so not worth the wait, tasted very lemony). I inquired about the jambalaya rice, I was told it was a $5 up charge because it had sausage in the rice but yet I was able to get double Mac and cheese.

Rib Plate, yellow rice, Mac N Cheese, yams

This restaurant sits off of US1. The inside is clean with food displayed cafeteria style. I had the rib plate which comes with rice and 2 sides. I had yams and mac and cheese. The ribs tasted good, especially with the extra sauce. The yellow rice tasted very bland and the yams tasted like they were canned and were not sweet at all. The mac and cheese was very cheesy but once I tasted it there was little flavor.

Okay so the best thing was the fried chicken wings and Mac n cheese was okay. The rice was hard! My daughter said mommmy it's crunchy! Smh the flavor isn't there in none of the food but the wings. The oxtails was born only..... and my husband said the friend pork chops was okay I would never reorder here.

Let me start by saying we are still in a Covid-19 pandemic and restaurant hours may fluctuate depending on the situation. We live at least 30 miles from Antie Ruth's Kitchen and called a few days in advance to confirm the hours.. We were told they open at 4pm and takeout only. We said ok we'll support by eating in the parking lot. Not uncommon during these times. On arrival, we met the manager who informed us they open at 5pm but she'd let us call in our order from the parking lot at 4:30. We called a few times from the parking lot and ultimately they called back and we placed our order after 5pm. The manager informed us of the sides they were out of and we were there BEFORE they opened. We both ordered the fried chicken (dark meat) with two sides each and the default white rice. My husband had candied yams and cabbage, I had collards and Mac n cheese. As far as taste goes the chicken, Mac n cheese and the collard greens were good. The collards were my fav.. would have been nice if they had cornbread.. My husband also liked his cabbage. I thought it needed more seasoning and we both agreed the candied yams were cold and had too much nutmeg. Mind you.. we were there BEFORE they opened. One comment on the chicken as I said, it was good. But the more I ate it I could taste the grease kind of settling into it and I knew if I didn't hurry up and eat it it would just get greasier. If you visit this restaurant please be patient and call in advance to double confirm the hours because it does not match the info in Yelp. Also confirm what's on the menu. BTW, the parking lot is completely inadequate. Too few spaces to be shared by multiple businesses and it's extremely difficult to get in and out of. The dumpsters take up valuable space that could be better used for parking. The parking is an exercise in frustration. I saw other frustrated patrons trying to navigate the parking lot too. We do what we can to support but it will be a while before we drive all the way down there only to have to get takeout. Because we're in a pandemic we understand, but it's far too cumbersome to sit and eat in the parking lot as we did.

Drove by during rush hour and saw lots of take out. Decided to come in and have lunch. Great food and sides were plentiful. Great ambiance too when you walk in. Staff was pleasant. Look forward to coming back!

He walked us through the menu, shared their most popular items, and really made us feel welcome. My husband and I like to try a little bit of everything, and he had his heart set on wings so we ordered the hot honey wings with a side of mac and a side of collard greens. He absolutely loved those wings. I was lucky to get even one bite because he cleaned the bones! The mac & cheese was also a big hit for him he wished he had more. The collard greens weren't his personal favorite, but I enjoyed them, and I know that can be more of an acquired taste. I ordered the fried conch with fries and a side of fried shrimp, plus the mystery drink because I was curious. The drink was delicious it reminded me of something sweet and fun you'd grab at the fair, so if you like sweeter drinks, I definitely recommend it. The conch was fried perfectly not overdone, no old oil tastes just crispy and really good. But the real star of the show was that lobster sauce. Pairing it with the fried conch and shrimp took the whole meal to another level. The shrimp were crunchy on the outside and tender inside, and everything just came together beautifully. I'm honestly still thinking about that lobster sauce and can't wait to come back for more. On top of the great food, the atmosphere was wonderful. Everyone was so friendly. We got to meet both the manager and the cook, and they genuinely cared about how we were enjoying our meal and if anything needed fixing which it didn't. Everything was perfect for us. We'll definitely be back soon. This place truly left a great impression on us.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the smell of smoked meat, and you know you're in for something special. It's a quaint little place with community-style picnic table seating indoors, and you can tell it gets busy during peak hours. The staff treated us like family from the moment we walked in and made us feel right at home. I ordered the baby back ribs and brisket, and both were outstanding. The collard greens were hands down the best I've ever had, and the sweet potato soufflé was just as memorable. Even the Texas toast was incredible--I don't usually talk about bread, but this stuff was fire! The drinks were served in large cups, and the sweet tea was absolutely perfect. Dinner for two came to about $78, which might seem a little high at first, but quality barbecue isn't cheap, and every dollar was worth it. The portions were generous, everything was fresh, and this was easily one of the best barbecue meals I've had. We were so full we almost skipped dessert, but I'm glad we didn't. The homemade Key lime pie was the best we had during our entire trip to the Keys. It was smooth, creamy, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of Key lime flavor, and unlike some of the others we tried, it wasn't gritty at all. It was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in South Florida.

Every table she assisted she referred to our table as being the problem where the tables would then be staring at us and our kids the whole time. Every ask was met with a forced smile, and rolling of the eyes as she walked away. She then went to the system to enter the orders and was pointing at us - She clearly was annoyed of having to serve a large group like ours and made the experience terrible despite the food. I understand it's inconvenient when a high number table arrives but there was still a level of service and respect that should have been present. We will never go back.
