10/5 stars if I could! If you're anywhere near Homestead, Shiver's BBQ is absolutely worth the stop. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the smell of smoked meat, and you know you're in for something special. It's a quaint little place with community-style picnic table seating indoors, and you can tell it gets busy during peak hours. The staff treated us like family from the moment we walked in and made us feel right at home. I ordered the baby back ribs and brisket, and both were outstanding. The collard greens were hands down the best I've ever had, and the sweet potato soufflé was just as memorable. Even the Texas toast was incredible--I don't usually talk about bread, but this stuff was fire! The drinks were served in large cups, and the sweet tea was absolutely perfect. Dinner for two came to about $78, which might seem a little high at first, but quality barbecue isn't cheap, and every dollar was worth it. The portions were generous, everything was fresh, and this was easily one of the best barbecue meals I've had. We were so full we almost skipped dessert, but I'm glad we didn't. The homemade Key lime pie was the best we had during our entire trip to the Keys. It was smooth, creamy, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of Key lime flavor, and unlike some of the others we tried, it wasn't gritty at all. Went while in town for a soccer teams last soccer game of a 10 month season. The food was absolutely amazing, however the staff was so bothered that a high top table entered the door her annoyance was so present the entire time we were there. Every table she assisted she referred to our table as being the problem where the tables would then be staring at us and our kids the whole time. Every ask was met with a forced smile, and rolling of the eyes as she walked away. She then went to the system to enter the orders and was pointing at us - She clearly was annoyed of having to serve a large group like ours and made the experience terrible despite the food. I understand it's inconvenient when a high number table arrives but there was still a level of service and respect that should have been present. We will never go back. read more

Great--loved the smoked chicken, balanced seasoning and was a huge leg. The cornbread soufflé was excellent, just the sweet I need to pair with the bbq. The sauces on the side were great--loved the spicy vinegar one and the mustard bbq sauce. Alright--all of the bbq came with a ton of sauce dumped on it which makes it difficult to enjoy the flavor of the smoke/grill. The ribs and brisket were quite dry. Stopped in for a late lunch and Betty was very helpful and efficient. I had the Jumbo Brisket platter with cornbread soufflé and coleslaw. Nice portion of tasty brisket and the soufflé was amazing. Could have used more bark and smoke on the brisket but it was good. Son had the three rib combo with hash brown casserole and hush puppies. Ribs had a nice bark and good smoke flavor. Loved this BBQ joint! First the food quality is amazing, it's so good that some menu items do sell out. The service has been excellent, however it gets busy during the evenings and there is a longer wait time. Absolutely worth it though! The service here is repeatedly horrible! Try to give it chance after chance and extremely disappointed every time! Place a phone order and drive 25 minutes to pick it up only to hear it'll be ready in less than 5 minutes but wait an extra 30 and still no order....ask for a refund for them to make me wait another 15 minutes saying they'll get the order just to come back and ask if I still want a refund.... Like are you crazy yes I want my refund! Icing on the cake is when they tried to keep the tip I left and conveniently shorted while the receipt stated clear amount...told myself twice before ill never come back but yea this time is it just disappointment after disappointment!! In reply to Michael....I wish you guys were just as quick to serve the order as you are to defend the service I got my refund around 4:50-4:52.... So yea waiting at your window for a ribs and burnt ends order that's taking over an hour isn't suffice no matter how you look at....when I left at 4:52 there was still no order to produce nor was a manager on staff to come and even deal with me but I'm glad there's one online to try to make it seems as if I didn't wait this long for a simple order! This is definiitely one of those homestead \ Naranja originals. Outside definiitely looks like an old western movie. I ordered takeout. Ribs, pull pork, beef brisket, fries and hush puppies. Shiver's BBQ is a staple BBQ spot in Homestead. My friends have been raving about this spot over the years and we finally decided to take a lil adventure down to Homestead to get it with a group of friends. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy since we were able to grab a seat with a group of 6 and my friend says that there is usually a line out the door. Seating is on what looks like large, communal picnic-style tables so get ready to get friendly with a few folks. Our server was super quick and friendly. My friends are regulars here from over the years so we knew what to order right away. We all mainly came here for their famous brisket burnt ends but unfortunately they were completely out when we came. That's the only reason I can't really give this spot five stars because everything we tried was just good, in my opinion, and I was really looking forward to this. It was also the beginning of the day when they opened when we came so it was a bummer they didn't have this. We ended up ordering a whole bunch of other stuff. Their plates and combos all come with two sides and they have a big variety to choose from. All my friends are huge fans of this place so I think I had too high of expectations coming in. Again, everything was good but just not too out of the ordinary in my opinion. I'm also not the biggest BBQ fan so I think I have high expectations when it comes to BBQ. Overall, still a good spot if you want some classic BBQ if you happen to be in the Homestead area. This is my 3rd time coming here and you know what they say...third time's the charm. And it was. The food was delicious and the service was great and the ambiance was nice. (It would've been better if that screaming baby wasn't there.) Anyways, I always try to have something different to a restaurant that I have been to before. And it didn't disappoint me. I ordered the burnt tips sandwich with hush puppies and cornbread soufflé and my fiancé had the half of chicken with the same sides as me. But this time I ordered the salted caramel cheesecake to go. Head to this place to step back in time. It's family style seating in a tiny building way down south. The bbq is GOOD. My only complaint, if it is one, is that they finish it with too much sauce. I'd rather taste the pork rather than it be slathered in bbq sauce. I loved the collard greens and enjoyed the beans, but the corn soufflé was a little greasy. Overall, I'd order the spare ribs and the greens again. The service was great - I think I'd go nuts working there but they were all grace under pressure. We came at a super busy time and waited about 25 min to be seated. We got wings and corn nuggets to start. Both were good, although the wings needed a more flavoring. Among the family we got a mix of ribs, burnt ends, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and brisket. Mixed reviews for sure. The flavor was good on all of it. They have some amazing bbq sauce! The burnt ends were by far our favorite. The brisket was a bit dry and the ribs had very little meat. That being said, the rest was really good. This restaurant was highly recommended by my friends as some of the best BBQ in town, so I was really excited to pay a visit! Inside is a spacious barn-like atmosphere where there are lines of tables for people to sit. The time we went was not too busy, but I've been told normally there is a constant line of people waiting for seats outside. The food was amazing, so flavorful and fresh! My favorite appetizer starter is the fried Mac and cheese wedges - I will make sure to order this again! The catfish was well seasoned (not too salty and not too crispy either - bonus it was piping hot!) and the baby back ribs are delicious. The cornbread soufflé and cheesy hashbrown casserole are also worth trying, they're both so creamy. The only limitations to my visit were that they happened to be out of burnt ends for that day, which was something my friends really looked forward to eating. Also parking can be quite limited and it wasn't even packed that day (so I can only imagine rush hour here). All in all, I'll have to go back again to try these burnt ends and order all my favorite sides. But this was definitely a great visit for BBQ! Would definitely recommend if you're in the area. I understand that Sundays can be busy, but it was disappointing to see several parties who arrived after us get their food at least 30 minutes before we did. I try to not visit South Florida unless I positively absolutely have to go there. Until today, I found the most amazing barbecue restaurant! Shivers BBQ!!! They have beef rib ribs. Yes, they have beef ribs. I know I was shocked, too. They also have corn nuggets!! I think I died and went to heaven. They are amazing. The service is phenomenal and the prices are fantastic!! If you're in South Florida visiting or live here you need to go to Shivers BBQ I think it makes living in South Florida almost worthwhile. There was a lot of different posters and things that you can enjoy while sitting down for lunch or dinner. We had read through the reviews and had some ideas of what we wanted to order, since we both wanted to try the burnt ends we went with the burnt ends meal with 2 sides, I chose green beans and cheesy hash brown casserole and my husband chose the pig trio with collard greens and barbecue beans. We shared the meats which were all delicious, perfectly tender with a wonderful smokey flavor. The cheesy hash browns were just like homemade with just the right balance of flavors and the collard greens were excellent with not too heavy of a vinegar taste. We elected to have the homemade banana pudding for dessert as a to go when we finally ate it it was good but not the best but very good. Service was terrible, our waitress was on her phone, talking to everyone and we had to ask for things several times. We drove 45 minutes south to eat here since it was highly rated and recommended by a friend. We're going back to Mission BBQ. Better prices, wider selection of BBQ sauces, better corn bread and no need to tip a waitress. Even the key lime pie, who the waitress highly recommended since it was from "key west", was terrible.
