Went while in town for a soccer teams last soccer game of a 10 month season. The food was absolutely amazing, however the staff was so bothered that a high top table entered the door her annoyance was so present the entire time we were there. Every table she assisted she referred to our table as being the problem where the tables would then be staring at us and our kids the whole time. Every ask was met with a forced smile, and rolling of the eyes as she walked away. She then went to the system to enter the orders and was pointing at us - She clearly was annoyed of having to serve a large group like ours and made the experience terrible despite the food. I understand it's inconvenient when a high number table arrives but there was still a level of service and respect that should have been present. We will never go back. read more

The sauces on the side were great--loved the spicy vinegar one and the mustard bbq sauce. Alright--all of the bbq came with a ton of sauce dumped on it which makes it difficult to enjoy the flavor of the smoke/grill. The ribs and brisket were quite dry. Among the family we got a mix of ribs, burnt ends, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and brisket. Mixed reviews for sure. The flavor was good on all of it. They have some amazing bbq sauce! The burnt ends were by far our favorite. The brisket was a bit dry and the ribs had very little meat. That being said, the rest was really good. We drove 45 minutes south to eat here since it was highly rated and recommended by a friend. We're going back to Mission BBQ. Better prices, wider selection of BBQ sauces, better corn bread and no need to tip a waitress. Even the key lime pie, who the waitress highly recommended since it was from "key west", was terrible. This is my 3rd time coming here and you know what they say...third time's the charm. And it was. The food was delicious and the service was great and the ambiance was nice. (It would've been better if that screaming baby wasn't there.) Anyways, I always try to have something different to a restaurant that I have been to before. And it didn't disappoint me. I ordered the burnt tips sandwich with hush puppies and cornbread soufflé and my fiancé had the half of chicken with the same sides as me. But this time I ordered the salted caramel cheesecake to go. My friends have been raving about this spot over the years and we finally decided to take a lil adventure down to Homestead to get it with a group of friends. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy since we were able to grab a seat with a group of 6 and my friend says that there is usually a line out the door. Seating is on what looks like large, communal picnic-style tables so get ready to get friendly with a few folks. Our server was super quick and friendly. My friends are regulars here from over the years so we knew what to order right away. We all mainly came here for their famous brisket burnt ends but unfortunately they were completely out when we came. That's the only reason I can't really give this spot five stars because everything we tried was just good, in my opinion, and I was really looking forward to this. It was also the beginning of the day when they opened when we came so it was a bummer they didn't have this. We ended up ordering a whole bunch of other stuff. Their plates and combos all come with two sides and they have a big variety to choose from. All my friends are huge fans of this place so I think I had too high of expectations coming in. Again, everything was good but just not too out of the ordinary in my opinion. I'm also not the biggest BBQ fan so I think I have high expectations when it comes to BBQ. Overall, still a good spot if you want some classic BBQ if you happen to be in the Homestead area. Head to this place to step back in time. It's family style seating in a tiny building way down south. The bbq is GOOD. My only complaint, if it is one, is that they finish it with too much sauce. I'd rather taste the pork rather than it be slathered in bbq sauce. I loved the collard greens and enjoyed the beans, but the corn soufflé was a little greasy. Overall, I'd order the spare ribs and the greens again. The service was great - I think I'd go nuts working there but they were all grace under pressure. This restaurant was highly recommended by my friends as some of the best BBQ in town, so I was really excited to pay a visit! Inside is a spacious barn-like atmosphere where there are lines of tables for people to sit. The time we went was not too busy, but I've been told normally there is a constant line of people waiting for seats outside. The food was amazing, so flavorful and fresh! My favorite appetizer starter is the fried Mac and cheese wedges - I will make sure to order this again! The catfish was well seasoned (not too salty and not too crispy either - bonus it was piping hot!) and the baby back ribs are delicious. The cornbread soufflé and cheesy hashbrown casserole are also worth trying, they're both so creamy. The only limitations to my visit were that they happened to be out of burnt ends for that day, which was something my friends really looked forward to eating. Also parking can be quite limited and it wasn't even packed that day (so I can only imagine rush hour here). All in all, I'll have to go back again to try these burnt ends and order all my favorite sides. But this was definitely a great visit for BBQ! Would definitely recommend if you're in the area. It took a nightmare to figure out how everybody could pay when someone came without cash. Some came of cash and they refused to be accommodating. We'll never come back again. The interior looked like a simple shop but air conditioned well to the point I felt like I needed a jacket. The bathroom also had its own very strong air conditioning unit. We both got the combos. There was a lot of different posters and things that you can enjoy while sitting down for lunch or dinner. We had read through the reviews and had some ideas of what we wanted to order, since we both wanted to try the burnt ends we went with the burnt ends meal with 2 sides, I chose green beans and cheesy hash brown casserole and my husband chose the pig trio with collard greens and barbecue beans. We shared the meats which were all delicious, perfectly tender with a wonderful smokey flavor. The cheesy hash browns were just like homemade with just the right balance of flavors and the collard greens were excellent with not too heavy of a vinegar taste. I got the two meat combo (pork spareribs and baby back ribs), green beans and BBQ beans. The pork spare ribs were tough and not seasoned enough. The baby back ribs were flavorful and much more tender. The green beans were canned and could have been skipped. I would give this a 5/10 or 3/5. I may try it again but generally speaking this is overrated. Just got to Apocalypse BBQ and call it a day. read more

My spare ribs were dried out beyond belief and my baby backs were tender although cold... This was a Sat around 1:30 lunch time and they were packed.. This place is worth a try if you're visiting the Homestead area. It's one of the best BBQ places at which we've eaten in a long time. In short, it's southern BBQ at its finest. Prominently located on US 1, it is not hard to find. It's brightly lit up at night and the storefront screams to you upon entry that you're about to get a wonderful downhome meal better than your mother used to make (sorry, Mom!). Inside there's long benches arranged in parallel running the length of the interior. It's meant to give the feeling that you're in a picnic pavilion. It's possible at the busiest times that you could be a little cozy with your neighboring party. But we were there at a time where it was only moderately busy and we never had the feeling of being on top of those next to us. We were seated right away and our server attended to us without delay. She clearly was experienced and very good at her craft. She did a great job throughout our stay. The menu featured a lot of Southern favorites making it hard to choose. One thing we knew we wanted to try was the fried corn on the cob and it turned out to be a highlight. It was made to perfection and tasted as good as it sounds. It's a great choice as a starter. For her main, my wife decided to try the Burnt End Sandwich, which she enjoyed immensely. I had a taste and thought it was exceptional. Another highlight for this place is the fabulous array of sides. She chose the Cole Slaw and Sweet Potato Soufflé. The cole slaw was good but the soufflé was great. I had the BBQ Chicken Sandwich with Cornbread Soufflé and Baked Beans. The baked beans were good, the sandwich was excellent, but the soufflé was special. The combination of tastes made this meal perhaps the best one of our one-week trip to Florida. It is not often when I have very good meat for my meal that I say the sides were the highlight...but these soufflés were simply that good. Something else to highlight was value. We had just water to drink so our bill with food, tax and tip was under $50 USD. At less than $25 each with leftovers to take home for another small meal or snack, I was quite happy with the value. The quality was great and the quantity was quite sufficient. If we get down this way again, we'll be sure to make another stop. read more
