As expected, it was well organized and everything was clearly marked. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Before letting everyone in, the supervisor explained the process for any estate sale newbies. He also announced prices were set around 50% off retail. I was shocked at the prices. Every single item I considered was 80 to 90% of new retail. I've never seen prices so high at an estate sale. I compared prices to what I found online and they were nowhere close. Additionally, the items at this estate sale were all used and did not even look close to new. I don't know if the property owner set the prices for this estate sale or if it was Grasons Coachella but I will not go to another estate sale hosted by this franchisee. I drove over an hour each way and like most people I saw today, left without buying a single item.

Because we did not live locally, they went above and beyond to work with us to make sure everything went smoothly. They were very respectful of our needs and wishes.  We had some difficult items to sell and some difficult conditions, yet they tackled it all with professionalism and a great attitude. We needed to get our mothers entire house emptied to sale, as she was no longer living in Yuma, so…read morewe contacted a local Yuma Estate sales company however they were unavailable on short notice. They had made an offer to do a complete buyout, that would have included removal of purchased items, trash removal, and handling of donations, leaving the house cleared. We wanted to think about that offer and were told an auction might yield better results and were referred to Action Auctions. Unfortunately, that was not the case at all. Joe from Action Auctions was very responsive and answering every call initially and stated after looking at our mothers three bedroom fully furnished house and shed packed with household belongings that he expected the auction would get between $3,000 to $4,000. We agreed on an auction date for the following month and later was sent a contract, however it had a higher % for his auctioneer fee than what we had discussed previously. When I brought this to his attention, I got no response nor did he send a corrected contract and the scheduled auction date was coming up, this forced me to travel out of state and show up onsite the morning of the auction to get the contract revised and signed before the start of the auction sales. During the auction someone made a awful mess in one of the bathrooms and it was left that way after the auction ended, this was discovered the next day by one of the contractors. Joe was called and returned to the house to take care of this matter. After the auction occurred, trying to reach him or get a call back was nearly impossible. A week after the auction he finally shared the paperwork with me, however, it was missing items and then he only gave us a check for $721.50 (the total proceeds were LESS THAN HALF of the original buyout offer we were offered from Yuma Estates Sales). However, according to the paperwork they provided, Auctions received $1550.50 this was for auctioneer fees, 50% labor, and 50% advertisement costs. Joe stated advertisement was $500! Unbelievable! Items were missing from the sale sheets given to us additionally, the overall total written on the final settlement sheet was short $100 from their own records provided to us. I wish I would have gone with the Yuma Estates Sales Company as they would have removed everything but without all the hassles. What made this experience especially frustrating is that the outcome was worse financially and logistically. We ended up with less money, more work, and far more stress than if we had accepted the original buyout. Estate situations are already emotional and overwhelming, and this process added unnecessary frustration. Based on our experience, we would not use this auction company again and would caution others to be careful before choosing this route.
