Unfortunately the place is homeless these days - well, store-less. I called the owners and went to…read moretheir barn to look at what they have, which is a ton. Steve and Sharon are pretty awesome people, and I talked with Steve for more than an hour. He's got a ton of stories and they're amazingly interesting. His barn isn't really enough to show off what he has (his barn is actually his workshop). So after looking around there I and my two travel-mates were led through their house, where they have so much more (including some seriously old and amazing things). In addition to looking through what they have at their home, Steve will look for you if you have something in particular you want. These people are genuine and have their heart and soul in their business, it's endearing and welcoming. If you're around Portland and interested in legit, unique, found-nowhere-else items call them up and arrange a stopoff at their place (until they find a store to display it all, that is). We stumbled upon the China Sea Marine Trading Co., and since we both love random, crazy stores we had to peek inside to see what they had. Its like a crazy antique store that deals solely in marine-related objects, perfect considering its location in a port city. The first moment you walk in, its very overwhelming and feels like a room filled with piles of junk that are randomly placed, but after the initial shock the objects fall into place and you can see the path meandering between the stacks and shelves. Items include clothing, telescopes, ship lamps, ship steering wheels and many other objects related to ships, maps, medals, photos, and art collected by the ships (I mostly saw African art while we were there). Its so much fun to peruse through all the items, there are incredible finds hidden everywhere! Our only problem was the objects we really wanted were *ahem* out of our price range. But this store is definitely a place to check out whenever you are in Portland.

They have jewelry, antiques, gifts, glass, Christmas items, and so much more. Staff is very friendly and helpful. This is just an amazing shop, kinda off the beaten path, not right in the middle of things, near the Tugboat Inn. I told her we were both vaccinated and that that was no longer necessary. She raised her voice when telling us that it didn't matter " you must wear masks anyway". As we turned to get our masks out of our car, she also said that we were required to spray disinfectant cleaner on our hands before entering. I saw 2 small bottles of hand cleaner on the counter and went to grab one. She yelled as she said that I was teaching for the wrong bottle! Now, we consider ourselves to be reasonable people. We donned our masks when told too, but spraying disinfectant on our hands too? When looking at antiques? Give us a break! Needless to say, this place lost two good customers due to the ridiculous and totally unnecessary and discourteous employee at this used antique store. Stay away.
