Treasures of all kinds can be found here: coins, costume jewelry, carnival glass, strange t-shirts, stranger home decor, toys and statues, books and buttons, vintage electronics, old kitchenware, a guitar corner... you could come here every week and find something new (new to you, anyway)! So many friendly and knowledgeable people; I watched one vendor explain to a couple how flea markets worked (she genuinely encouraging them to barter for anything they were interested in). We had a couple vendors tell us that they had lots of stuff 25% to 40% off, just to ask if we were curious. Make it a point to visit here, especially in the winter months when the farmers market is happening at the same time. It makes for a wonderful Saturday morning outing!

Leaning more to the camp side of collectible antiquities, Trifles stretches the inventory to reflect a mad scientist's summer home on Sesame Street, decorated in the '50s, kiddified in the '60s and, oh by the way, the whole family loves Jon Waters and Elvis LPs while sunning on the Cape and doing kinetic puzzles. Confused? It's a matter of personal taste. She got a loose-at-the-seams children's books called The House That Jack Built, and I got a number of stunning visuals, and a walk down TV Blvd, off Memory Lane. Since the space is rented out to different artisans and vendors, the selection is quite diverse. Really, it's a vintage lover's dream. The woman at the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful. I could've easily spent hours wandering through all the unique finds here and talking to the staff. Prices vary since each vendor sets their own, so it's a mix of splurge-worthy items and super affordable gems. I walked out with a new mug and some adorable little spoons. I have heard about this organization over the years but only really took notice when their store…read moreappeared in my town. That is when I started to understand and appreciate what they do for their community. After hearing that they take part of their profits to help build houses for people that would otherwise unable to have a house I knew that this was a place to support. My first time in was to mostly scope out the joint. They have a furniture room, an electrical and lighting room, and the main room that consists of lumber, tools, cupboards, bathroom items, and more. While wandering I overheard a manager discussing with one of the volunteers that they usually look up the item and price it half of what local retail places would price it at. Yowzers! I like that! These prices gave me motivation for projects. My new place needed shelves in so many places that I knew If I went anywhere else I would pay a fortune. When I returned to the store the following day I did so with a list of dimensions for the different shelving projects I needed. Their lumber section is random lengths and types of woods so you need to use one of their tape measures to explore and find what is the right length. I somehow found all I needed! When I went to find shelf brackets a volunteer saw me pawing through the bin and walked over. She told me someone just donated a ton and they just hadn't been put out yet. She hurried behind the counter and came back with an arm load. "How many do you want?" Score! I have returned more than once since then to buy nails, screws, and scope out their tables which is next on my list. Right now they have tons and again everything is priced so reasonable that all seem a possibility for me.

I'm also not that old so it also reaffirms that even though I'm not fresh faced 20s, I'm NOT that old where everything in the store is a reminder of my past. I know that day will come, hopefully not soon enough! This place is overloaded with so many antiques to the point where there's stuff on the outside porch. There are three floors of stuff and there is always a place for your eyes to go. A couple of things, like those old Coca Cola bottles, rotary phone, old crystal and old dolls caught my eye. There were sale and discount signs everywhere so there are deals to be had. I didn't get anything but if I ever need to find an antique I'd know where to go.
