I dropped by Antojito Como En Casa around 6:30 pm on a weeknight to grab dinner with my brother. We were the only ones in the restaurant for a bit and were attended to quite quickly. In terms of food, I went with the cheese enchiladas in red sauce with beans and rice and my brother ordered the chilaquiles with eggs. We definitely indulged in the chips and salsa that we were given while we waited for our food. In terms of portion sizes here, all I can say is WOW. Our plates were loaded with a ton of food and I definitely felt like I was going to fall over after I devoured my entire plate. Flavor wise, both dishes were good, but began to be a bit salty as we kept eating. We did want to try to tlacoyos, but unfortunately, they weren't available when we went in. Service was friendly and swift and overall, this place had some good food, minus the minor detail of it being a bit on the salty side. Antojito Come En Casa is definitely a jewel out here in El Centro. They stand by their name and their food is definitely homemade quality. I went with el huarache de chicharron con una agua de platano. It is basically fried pork skins sautéed in salsa accompanied with rice and beans on top of a thick handmade flower tortilla. A very delicious dish that in my opinion deserves five stars. First time for me also trying agua de platano or banana water. After my first time trying it I have to say I enjoy it more than your average horchata. It was a very delicious choice and the chips and salsa that came with my order were also very delicious. Customer service was also outstanding. Very friendly people. Prices are very affordable and the restaurant is located in a good area. I loved the traditional Mexican art that surrounded their walls. Hands down, BEST CHILAQUILES EVER! These aren't your standard leftover tostada chip chilaquiles. These chips taste and crunch like they were freshly fried before being topped with a delectable red sauce and cheese, giving them a great mouth feel. You have the choice of adding eggs or chicken to the dish. I ordered them with chicken and I cannot emphasize enough how outstanding this dish was! I didn't even want to share the typical bite with my husband so he could see how wonderful my meal was, lol. My husband had the pork sopes, normally he would get pastor, but that wasn't an option. Too bad too because although the sopes were good they were a little bland. The free chips and two salsas were delicious. The darker one has a lot more spice which is what I am looking for and it did not disappoint. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant. I did not care for the salsa tho they do give you two different kind. My husband had chicken rolled tacos, he said they were good and the presentation was very nice. The employees are very friendly. We were just passing through and stopped due to the very high reviews. Came here for a late dinner with coworkers. The owner of the restaurant was super friendly the entire time. The food came pretty quickly and was very tasty! The chips and salsa were very good as well. I ordered the carne asada plate and the beef was marinated well. Round 2! It has been two years since I have been here. The food was delicious, authentic, and tasted like homemade. I just finish eating a chicken sope and enchilada with beans and rice. The portion was a good size and filled me up! Unfortunately my server did not really check on me and I had to ask "Carlos" aka the bus boy to hook me up with a soda refill. I really appreciate Carlos responding right away and also refilling my chips! I also got to meet the two cooks "Luis & Ramon" and Luis explained that they only use quality meets. I have to say that we have always supported local businesses and will continue to do so as long as the business is consistent with its quality and presentation. Today we visited the original location on Desert Gardens and I'm sorry to say it's just not the same anymore. I know prices have gone up everywhere and I have absolutely no problem with that whatsoever, but if you're raising your prices at least keep the quality of your food up too. The staff here at this restaurant are very humble and talkative. They always have great tips for tourists. The food here is fantastic. I had their Caldo De Res (Beef Stew) and it brought me flashbacks eating my grandma's Caldo De Res. I love how their serve you homemade tortillas along side the soup. We came to try this restaurant for the 1st time and due to high ratings we decided to come and try it out. The wait time to be seated we expected since it's 4.5 stars rating so we didn't mind. After being seated we waited over 25 min to have our order taken and that's only because I got up 2 times to ask for someone to come and take our order. A couple who came after us already ordered and ate there food and we are still waiting to place our order. They seated us to the side of a wall where you can't be seen very easily. 2 waitresses passes us by several times and saw menus on the table and no one came to ask if someone took our order. Bad experience being our first time. Make sure if you want your order taken to be seated in plain sight so they know your there to eat or else your being overlooked. Avoid this table by this wall.
