We had numerous projects done with them from small to very involved, and no matter what the size of the job you have, they can handle it. Jeremy is the polite and knowledgable owner of this family run business. Not only is he an experienced craftsmen but he has a whole stable of experts working for him as well. Beau is one of the best project managers around and his years in the business and expertise are obvious. He always double checks with the boss and on the schedule so he will not promise things he can't deliver. He communicates directly with you and will be there almost daily to check on the status of your job. Jeremy has several larger crews working for him. The demolition crew is has numerous helpers and they are quick. Derrick was wonderful and made sure that there was no mess left behind and attended to all of the details. The painters he uses are also true professionals. Jeff and his guys were fast, neat and their work looks great. Finally, there are those who are called in to handle special jobs. The plumber responds quickly and can help you with anything from small leaks to complete renovations. As for all of the detail work, Chris is one of the best finishing guys you could have. He is obviously skilled, clear and concise on what he will do and takes his time to make sure that the house is put together just right. The only problem you will run into is scheduling. They are extremely busy so don't wait until the last minute to try and get your project done. Call and get an estimate and get on their calendar.

However, Thibodeau came out, informed me the inspector had no clue what he was talking about (I had a major suspicion) told me the work they recommended was unnecessary, even summed it up in an email for me to submit to the buyers of our home. Not only were they knowledgeable, they turned down an easy job because they are honest. Then, even backed it up with a professional, concise email. Now that's valuable.

Now that the exterior of our home looks so good, we're working our way through renovating the inside. We just had them install stone tile in our master bathroom. Not a fan at all. My…read morebasement had flooding issues and when I tried to bring this to my elderly parents' attention, they somehow decided to finish the basement, despite the musty smell and this seasonal flooding for 20 years. I was hoping that maybe Hivex would identify this issue and maybe back me up on this point before they fully converted it to a rentable living space. But they didn't. We then got a huge rain which left visible signs of flooding and standing water on the basement floor. When I told my Dad, he said it was due to Hivex mopping the floor. I was certain that Hivex would help clear this up and attribute the water to the recent storms. They didnt--they confirmed (lied?) to my dad that it was due to their mopping a few days prior. So then they started installing the framing for the drywall, despite the smell and standing water. I knew the project was doomed at this point because once the drywall went up, that moisture would be sealed off behind it and the mold would just flourish. That's when we got the biggest storm in Spring of 2025 which resulted in catastrophic flooding of the basement, leaving zero doubt about the flooding. (This is also a common-sense issue in our area, which has heavy clay soil). We hired a basement moisture company to deal with the seasonal flooding but we had to remove the framing to install the dewatering trench at the base of the wall. At this point, they were really behind schedule. The price was outrageous. Over $80K. My friend just finished his basement and oversaw the drywall, electrical work, cabinetry, etc. He did his basement, which is larger, for around $20,000. The mark up was huge and I was really expecting more. Hivex is for people who love to spend money. Little things they missed: 1. Basement door will not lock and the GC never coordinated with the basement moisture people as to who's fault this was. I thought the GC was supposed to solve things like this and not let things fall through the cracks? 2. Ceiling fan is supposed to reverse during the cold months. This feature is broken which really sucks in the winter time, when all the warmth stays on the ceiling. 3. Faucet was really loose and I had trouble correctly tightening it. Frustrating for a few weeks as it gradually loosened and I had to keep fixing it. 4. The reverse pump for the bathroom was not even sealed. There was a visible gap on the lid of this device and the smell was AWFUL for a few weeks. My aging parents cant smell anything so they just said I was crazy. After a few weeks of this smell, they finally had someone come to seal it. This worker seemed very honest and he said it was bad they missed this. Nasty Hivex. 5. They have really bad deals and poor quality when it comes to their cabinetry and kitchen design options. (Cheap stuff designed to maximize profits). They also refuse to work with whatever company you went with for the cabinets/hardware/faucet. Again, whats the point of the GC if they arent coordinating with everyone? We went with IKEA and it was SO chaotic and horrible. Its basically an automated company at this point.

I had parts of my lawn sodded by ERL in May 2025. They did very little soil preparation and did not…read morebutt the sod pieces together, leaving 1/2 inch gaps. They said this would be okay. Wrong. As of this week, when I had to have my lawn aerated because most of the sod they laid had died, I can say this was the worst sod job I have seen (of 5 that I have done over 40 years). The person who aerated my lawn agreed. Whole pieces of the sod came loose; it never took. Lousy job, lousy sod, and too expensive. And when I told ERL about this they never responded. Buyer beware!

As some customers have stated the price seemed high but once all the poison ivy, poison oak, big shrubs had to be removed and cut and the amount of weeds and it was 3 person crew price was accurate. Took a whole day to clean the lot off and it was the front only.
