I graduated from Philip Christodoulou's Bhakti Yoga Program. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, Bhakti Yoga is a form of Yoga based on the path of Devotion and Love. I have been on the yogic path for almost a decade. I recently was drawn to the more spiritual side than the physical. I noticed the physical aspect was helping me on a spiritual level as well. With this awareness, I was drawn to explore this enticing path of Love and Devotion.
Anuttara Yoga can be described as a true yoga "Shala." It has an urban Ashram-styled ambiance, with a touch of unexpected class that appealed to what some may consider my slightly more discerning tastes than most. The Shala was found to be immaculate, and the energy warm and welcoming. Philip has a calming presence, and his presentation is delivered with elegance. He is extremely articulate yet easy to understand. I found his teaching ability almost supernaturally intuitive, and his ability to connect with each and every student in the room simultaneously was surreal. He weaves the information with flair and finesse, adding a riveting dash of humor, wisdom, and experience. Somehow, in some magical way, the class was delivered in a very easy to comprehend manner. This is a subject that I would imagine is normally uniquely incomprehensible to understand. The other students that attended were some of the most beautiful souls I ever encountered. Everyone I met at Anuttara seemed bright and wonderfully open-minded, with a comforting demeanor about them. The compassion held by Philip throughout the duration was a spiritual experience in and of itself. If you seek something outside the box of simple physical yoga and want to delve deeper, any classes or courses held by Philip Christodoulou are highly recommended. Anuttara also has physical yoga offered throughout the day, and you are blessed as Philip teaches many of the different classes. Physical yoga yes, but they are all Anuttara Style. I would describe Anuttara Style as an infusion of laughter, love, and spirituality with the physical. They offer both heated and unheated classes. They offer Raja (the most delicious form of Yoga on the planet), which has been a new decadence added to my life. You will find it gentle, meditative, cathartic, yet still somehow feels like a physical work-out. They also offer Hatha and Vinyasa. Classes range from one hour to two hours, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Have fun at Annutara Shala! I highly, highly recommend it. I also highly recommend Philip Christodoulou, the owner, as a person and teacher. You will be forever changed, even by just one visit. You will want to come back again and again, it feels that good! It is authentic, real-deal yoga, as good as it gets! read more
