I came to Funk&Flow for a Kundalini Activation class with a group called The Inner Method. The studio was easy to find, but parking seems to be limited and tricky. There studio is at the beginning of a row of what seems to be warehouses and garage spaces. I got lucky and found a parking spot at the front of the lot. The studio space itself is charming and relaxing. I love the small lights they have hanging from the ceiling, and the temperature inside was cool and comfortable. There was an area to place our personal belongings, and the studio was clean and well taken care of. The class I went there for was done by a traveling group, so I won't go in detail about the experience, but I enjoyed it! I would visit this space again. read more

It's been more than four years since my last review, and this place is still as, if not more awesome than when I first started going! I'm totally convinced that Jessie is an alien- the way she infects people's spirits with her love of dance is definitely out of this worldly. I just finished a class she offered in Plantation outdoors, the neat thing was that about half of the class was entirely new, and the joy and smile on everyone's faces (I should add ridiculously sweaty faces) is just more evidence of how great Funk&Flow is! This year I am going to make it a resolution to make it out at least once a month for a class with Jessie, even though the studio is now a really far schlep from my residence. LISTEN- If you love music and/or dance you really should check this place out. Funk&Flow is a completely judgment free zone that is filled to the brim with sweet moves and good vibes. I was introduced to this studio from none other than Yelp and the rad(and new idea) of an event! A vinyasa flow that was guided by Ashley, one of the owners of this sweet spot. I enjoyed the intimate energy and in a heavily yoga-studio-at-every-corner region as south Florida is, I think I found my happy place here, as I do not feel intimidated but rather embraced. They offered those that attended the event a $30 for 2 weeks of unlimited classes so I graciously snagged. My first was w/ Kat for the Feel Good Flow-I enjoyed this class but might have been too intense for me. My 2nd w/ Jessi, co-owner for Wind Down Flow, with its' intention to help shut down your thoughts from a busy day for a restful sleep. This pushed me beyond my comfort zone but still reaping the benefits of restoration. I loved it so much I signed up for another. I think Ashley was supposed to guide my 2nd Wind Down Flow but Elena, a freshly yogi graduate who was amazing took over. She weaved thru us, either gently lowered my upper body further in Pigeon pose (this felt good and very appreciated)or pulling hips for a more extended downward dog; this made all the difference. I also loved how she incorporated the blocks, as simple as using them in a seat position to ease pressure off the lower back--game changer!!!! Or using a block with a cushion for another game changing Savasana pose, I did not want to get up after this. I am eager to come back to not only have more wind down flows, but try their Yinspired yoga class and their cardio/dance class! read more

My friend and I were on vacation in the area and wanted to do something different to workout. We absolutely loved the Funk Body class! It was so fun! We sweat. Danced. It was easy to follow and my friend was humbled by how hard it works your body after doing lots of CrossFit. We will definitely be back the next time we're in the area! I used to have the wrong impression about Yoga until I experienced Funk&Flow. This place changed my perspective completely! I had experienced yoga in the past in a gym environment. It wasn't the greatest feeling to be in a big space with tons of people, outside noises, and sweaty smells... I came to Funk&Flow during a Yelp event and I got hooked. It was a beautiful experience since the beginning. The place is nice and cozy. Beautifully decorated with pieces of art, touches of wood and you just breathe a sense of freedom as you come in. The teachers are so nice and welcoming. They make you feel part of the family since day one. I love the aromatic oils they use at the beginning and end of the yoga session. I hadn't had a feeling of "I love this place and activity" in a long time! but here I felt that so quickly. Yoga itself has been so relaxing and restorative for me. Not only is the owner and dancer (Jesse) just extraordinaire and full of joy and expertise but so is the general chill vibe and the versatility of dance and the music at the studio. If I could I would give this place a 20 star review! I have been looking for a place where I can dance and work out to some hip hop for many many months and I'm happy to say that I finally found it. I decided to give this place a try after I saw a promotion on Groupon, and the day I purchased their coupon, I went straight to the studio to get my groove on. Sign-up process was super simple and in less than 10 minutes I was on the dance floor. I was very excited and didn't know what to expect since I'm very used to taking Zumba classes, but how could I have skipped this class when callled Cardio Funk? The moment the class started, the AMAZING teacher began to play Justin Timberlake and I knew I was in the right place. During the entire class, she played songs from N'Sync, Lady Gaga, G Eazy and Nicky Minaj and I swear my feet couldn't stop moving. After this class, I went back the next day and I actually took a hip-hop class which was also spectacular. For this class, the teacher created a choreography for us to learn during the hour class and then divided us into several teams so we could all groove to the beat of the learned routine. I have been now going to this studio for a little bit over a month and I couldn't be happier that I found it! All the classes I have taken so far have been perfect, and I get the best workout ever! All the people in the studio and the teachers are super friendly and knowledgeable, Not to mention they all are kick ass dancers. Keep up the amazing work! read more

Love Funk and Flow. Friends gifted me with a month of unlimited yoga and classes. What a treat!!! Jessie and Ashley are so amazing! It's always wonderful to see people going after their dreams. Plus they are crazy gifted at what they do! Ashley was so great working with my injuries and gave me great modifications to keep me engaged. I also joined one of their Saturday dance events. SO MUCH FUN! Two hours of dancing. I was completely exhausted after but had a wonderful nap. If you're looking for a local spot to dance it out and build your strength doing yoga this is the place for you! The have pay per class options and a couple of different package options. Took a yoga class through ClassPass. It was an intimate class with a great instructor. The studio is huge (great for any number of different classes if they were to rent the space) and clean. It smelled great, which probably had to do with the oils used during class. The class was great for me - I'm not a beginner, but I'm far from advanced. There were great modifications. The instructor was attentive and inspiring. I'm not from the area, but I'm down there for work quite a bit. I'll definitely go back if time allows. read more

I would rather have a root canal than go to the gym ‍ This place is so awesome and the club/hip hop/Caribbean music is sure to move your feet and the only thing missing is a martini !! The girls who own the place are such wonderful, genuine women who do it not really for the profit but for the beauty of it. You can tell from the moment you meet them. Love, love, love this studio! I was lucky enough to hear about it from a friend of a friend, and I've been going 3-4 times a week since I first signed up. Where to begin... I've only taken two of the classes and both are taught by Ashley, so she is the instructor I can truly speak to. If you're like me, you get a little stiff in new situations or around new people. My first day at Funk&Flow wasn't like that. Ashley is instantly disarming and an equally reassuring instructor. She laughs at her mistakes (as in, forgetting her right from her left), helps you laugh at yours and uses relatable analogies to help you understand exactly what you should be getting out of your practice. My favorite from the other night - "Yin is like braces. You have to ease into it gradually." The class times are also a huge selling point for me. Whether you're interested in Vin, Yin or even a hip hop dance class, chances are they have a time that will work for you. Finally, Ashley and Jessi have created a space that is very conducive to what you're there for. And I don't just mean the incredible remodeling and decorating job they did themselves. If you're coming from work and haven't had a chance to change, they have changing rooms. If you forgot your water, they have a water cooler and cups. If you've never done yoga before and don't have a mat, they have spares. If you always find your hands or feet are slipping, they have mat covers that work wonders. And if you find more zen when you shop than you do on the mat, they have lots of yoga-inspired goodies to choose from in the lobby. Yoga is a rewarding practice in and of itself. It helps heal your body as well as your mind. If you've never done it, you owe it to yourself to try it at least once. But even if you're a seasoned pro, doing yoga here at Funk&Flow is an experience you don't want to miss. read more

Beautiful, empowering and energizing space led by two badass women. Visiting from Brooklyn and was on the hunt for a spot that would challenge me but also have fun (I was on vacation after all...). I took yoga and cardio funk and they were both amazing. Cardio Funk is the perfect blend of workout/dance/strengthening and toning. Even during my first class I could keep up easily because Jessi is such a strong instructor. For the yoga class Ashlee balanced a strong and intense practice with a super centered and reflective approach. I left both classes on cloud 10. Besides all the technical pieces it's just a great group of people and super positive energy. I'm sad I don't live here because I'd be there EVERY SINGLE DAY. read more

Nadine's barre class is awesome, I don't think I've ever smiled or laughed through a extraneous workout in my life but she makes the workout so much fun.
