I was very nervous getting my first tattoo and was kind of picky on who and where I was gonna get it done. My design was very simple and I know a lot of artists could have made it happen.. but I also wanted a good experience to go along with it. The first tattoo shop I went to and had paid to have consultations with, the artist was kinda cocky and acted as if he didn't have time for me or my partner... and wouldn't listen to what we were asking for. That left me very stressed and with little hope. I thought maybe I shouldn't get a tattoo at all. Just wasn't a good first impression. Then my boyfriend came across Anvil, saw it had good reviews so we went in to talk with an artist and OMG! The artist we talked to, his name is Toon and I swear in 5 seconds of talking with him he impressed me more than the artist from the first tattoo shop. He gave us his full attention, he was so kind, funny the kind of personality and energy you would expect from a good quality tattoo artist. And so that night after meeting with him I knew he was the artist for us. Now my first tattoo has a good memory and happy experience tied to it. So thankful for Anvil. To celebrate my 40th birthday, I got my first tattoo. This is something that I've always wanted to do, but didn't have the guts and thought my pain threshold wasn't high enough. I planned this day for a year and finally got the balls to book an appointment and I've never been happier. I thought that the colors wouldn't show up on my skin (African American) but the colors are gorgeous - so lovely that people actually think it's fake. Keith did a fantastic job on my tattoo. We designed it together, he knocked it out in no time, and it's gorgeous. I love it. It did hurt, but not as badly as I thought and I'm already considering having something added to the design. This place was awesome went to a couple shops with horrible high prices for simple tattoos walked in both guys were amazing and funny. Was comfortable with the place very clean and all certs were hanging which is always nice to see. Wife and I asked a lot of questions and got very helpful information about placement of tattoos and got them done with great line work no problems at all. To celebrate my 18th birthday I had the top of my foot tattooed by Jimmy because he's done my fiancé's work and his brother's as well. He's a fantastic artist, very clean and reputable with reasonable prices. I also had a tattoo done by Manboy on June 13th, just a small owl for Friday the 13th but beautiful, exactly what I asked for, and Manboy has a much lighter hand than Jimmy although I prefer a heavier hand. I have been going to Moon since the day after I turned eighteen. Anvil is clean, well-lit, and very friendly every time I come in. Your artist makes you feel welcome and walks you through the tattoo. They don't become frustrated when the stencil is moved several times or when you have a question or two, which is something I have experienced at shops with other artists. Their prices are also EXTREMELY reasonable for the quality of work they do. My only complaint is their scheduling. Because they are popular and their artists do such quality work, they do have a lot of walk-ins and a booked schedule. I have been rescheduled on more than one occasion and, because they don't ask for phone numbers, I am only told that they don't have time for me when I walk in the door. However, the quality of work is worth it to me, so I only knocked one star. read more

Bottom line: Best place I have had work done. The shop is clean and comfortable. Tucked away from any busy roads or business activity, this place sports much of its own work instead of tattoo catalog stock designs spackled all over the walls as seen in so many other estaablishments. The crew here under Keith are patient, friendly, helpful and above all else, very skilled. Their work speaks for itself. I am currently having cover up work done over three different pieces on my upper left arm by Lonnie, who managed to not only hone my ideas to cover it, but completed it better then I could have hoped for. Keith, at all times, makes everyone in the shop feel welcome. Weather greeting people at the door or touching up someones sleeve work, Keith is continuously maintaining a enjoyable environment with his conversation and comedy. Which is a nice time killer during long color work. The music variety that plays is wide and endurable. Constant non stop thrash metal is not what is played here. All in all, there is only positive feedback about my experiences here and I plan to recommend it to any who may ask. Sorry if the spelling is off for this review. The tattoo, Mannboy did was phenomenal and far exceeded my expectations and was a great tribute to my deceased father. Best work around! Hands down Quality Work will be done if you go here. It's amazing how many people I see with Good ink work done who say that they went to Anvil. Yes, they are pretty booked up, but that speaks for itself. My best friend went here to get a cover up done for bad work done on her (at Illusions tattoo in smokey point - don't ever go there, they mispelled one simple word on her and have horrible customer service). But ANVIL saved the day and did an awesome cover up! Very pleased!!!! Great looking shop with amazing tattoo artists. Ok, they do good work, only reason I gave them 2 stars. Made an appointment, but waited 40 minutes anyway while they wandered around chit chatting, looking at their phone, eating and ultimately getting set up. Then when he finally asked what I wanted and I told him, I was told it was stupid as F*ck. Been here twice and had the same experience both times. Won't go again. And it cost $130 for a fish hook. Twice as much as the previous tattoo that was way bigger. read more

I found out about Anvil through a friend that had work done there by Moon. I scheduled an appointment with Berger to have a small piece - my son's footprints and name. He did a good job and it was priced well. About 6 months later I decided to have him do another piece, a bit larger. I wanted to start a sleeve. It was to be about a 1/4 of the sleeve. Nothing super detailed, just lots of color. I called to get a rough estimate - they told me $150-$200, which was surprisingly low. I called back a few days later to book with Berger. He said he was excited to do the piece. I arrived exactly at 5pm, which is when I was scheduled. He told me that the guy before me was late. I expected him to say maybe 30 min or so. He told me an hour and a half. WTF?? I drove almost an hour and a half to get there and even hired a sitter to watch my son. I said I would wait but wanted an idea of how long mine might take - I described what I wanted. He was rude and patronizing. I did not go back. I was super bummed about the whole experience. This was a birthday present and now I have to find another artist. I spoke with the friend that initially recommended them and she said she had other friends say the same thing about him. Not only him, but the first time I was there, the shop was empty and the owner was there and he was quite friendly - despite the fact he had just returned from a funeral. This time when I was there, he didn't speak to me, didn't look at me. No one was friendly and it seemed no one had time for me. I own my own business and could not imagine treating my customers this way. I know that most artists develop some sort of attitude as they progress in their career - but I do not expect them to be rude. There is a difference between arrogance and just plain rude. I would not tell anyone I know to go to this shop. read more
