Since I've joined, I've gained muscle, learned better technique and made some really awesome friends. I love that everyone there from their incredible training staff to the lifters themselves are knowledgeable and helpful to anyone that walks in the door. It really does feel like a tight knit family that is welcoming to everyone willing to put in the work, from the feel at the gym during classes to the chili cookoffs and Phillies games together. In fact, just this past weekend we drove 2 hours down to Delaware just to watch some of our friends from the gym compete in a strongman competition and it was a blast! We've brought numerous friends for drop-in workouts and they've all walked away impressed at the camaraderie and top of the line equipment that owners Katie and Brian have for their gym. Whether it's strongman, powerlifting, Olympic lifting or cross fit style workouts you are seeking, you can find it all at Power Plant, and then some. My wife and I actually participate in Spartan races and we love that there are numerous rigs, ropes, assault bikes, and sandbags to help supplement our training.

There are some bench platforms and plenty of chalk. There is also strongman equipment such as Atlas stones. So, whether you are into Olympic lifting or powerlifting or strongman training, there is ample equipment for you. The problem is the people. As long as you are putting money into their pockets --- as by paying for training, the trainers are attentive. So, I paid somewhere around $500 for some personal training, and the advice and coaching was solid. The problem is that once you stop paying, it is evident that the trainers and the owners could care less about you --- never mind that you are paying the monthly dues. So, after I finished with my personal training sessions, I was lucky to get a nod of acknowledgement--- from the owner all the way down to the staff. And if you ask for something as simple as a spot, they act as if you are somehow imposing. I might as well have been at Planet Fitness. Call me old-fashioned, but I feel that when you pay, you are entitled to at least be treated civilly. Finally, the unpleasant atmosphere was too much, and I canceled my membership. Summary --- good equipment, but poor people-skills on the part of the owners and employees.

In fact it will again become my primary club in the PF chain. Clean. Fresh. Equipment is well placed. The new Hydromassage beds are great. They still have the seated chair massagers too. The best part is they hired staff who care! Everyone is friendly and very knowledgeable about fitness and willing to share that knowledge. They tailor instructions and advice to your age group. I have seen several staff members working with people that were in their 70s and motivating them to go the extra step without putting them through routines designed for 20 somethings. I joined Train Hard Win Big this past winter and have noticed an immense difference in my strength which has directly translated to my success on the softball field. You get a different HIIT type workout per class you choose. A few of the classes are stretch classes but even those will feel like an intense workout for me. You may get to use plates, a battle rope, the usual weights, jump rope, a mini "track" where you bend down and get back up running back and forth, and semi-gym bike you must balance yourself on. Visiting many fitness centers including this one has helped me appreciate what is here more. My body acted weird with the 12 workouts I had here as I surprisingly never lost weight except for one time when I had 2 workouts on a Thursday and a Saturday, I temporarily suddenly lost 9 lbs. I couldn't do workouts harder than I did as I would get dizzy and I have been checked for these physical reactions already and I am thankfully fine. My stamina rebuilding has been real slow. I do wish there was some short breaks planned because I get worn out and start to hate exercise with the constant pressure to move. Every gym and almost every trainer I have been with has been like this though. You have to try to pace yourself completely :( This is a good place for getting a quality workout for your money's worth.

Well, about 3 years ago, I found Planet Fitness. I liked it but quit because I qualified for Silver Sneakers and they did not take that membership. A few months ago they did, and I'm back! As I tried to untangle why I now go to this gym, even though I could go elsewhere more fancy for free, I arrived at the following reasons in order of importance to me: Planet Fitness is clean; it is light; it has an open floor plan; the layouts makes sense; there is plenty of parking; it has no hidden rooms; it has enough machines for everybody; people do not bother to look at you or to strike a conversation and I like that; I do not feel intimidated at this gym; it has no classes (I don't like classes because I cannot commit to a schedule); you can follow the 30 min. workout in zones that are already set up; it has plenty of TVs to watch over their own WiFi if that's your interest; you can charge your water (no cash needed); it's down the street from my two favorite stores: Lid'l and Home Depot. I completed a month of attending this gym four-five times per week and I have not stumbled upon any of my regular excuses why I do not want to work out! First for me in half a century!

The should have moved it near the new entrance where the handicap parking should be only 15 feet from the door. There are many retirees who use this facility. Shame on you for giving the best parking near the door to the totally able bodied.
