I do appreciate it when owners try to remedy problems with their business. I've been coming here a lot and lately, I've been seeing the staff constantly wiping down the equipment and emptying the trash instead of chit chatting. I still see members who do not wipe equipment, but I'm glad to see the staff at least clean the fitness machines. Management must have told them so! The San Francisco Planet Fitness should learn from the other PF locations!

Hello Yelp Family!!! I have been a member of Planet Fitness since August of 2013. I started out at the Drexel Hill Location which is smaller than Clifton Heights and I had a white card. Then I upgraded it to a Black Card and moved over to Clifton Heights. Clifton Heights is smaller than the Ridley Park location. This Ridley Park location is home for me now. The white card is $10.00 and you can only visit one gym which is your home. The black card is $20.00 and enables you to visit any Planet Fitness location anywhere in the world where there is a Planet Fitness. There are also guest passes. It has been a sheer joy for me to work out here. This is a find, as I have been in the past, a member of Living Well Lady, Bally's, Fitness Together and Curves. I enjoy working out at 4am in the morning six days a week, Monday morning thru Saturday morning, 1 hour to 1and a half hours either dancing on the treadmill or doing ab work- pushups, crunches, leg lifts and sit ups. This gym is well maintained. It is open constantly. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That was the main attraction for me here to find an overnight gym. The gym is always clean and they have towels and solution to clean the individual machines. This Planet Fitness at Ridley is relatively new. They have been here for approximately five years. Wendy's, Home Depot, ACME, Citizens Bank are all within walking distance. Lol!! I don't see too many folks walking though!!! The gym at this location has two floors full of equipment: treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, arc trainers and weight equipment, such as free weights and your heavier weights. There is plenty of space to work out - no one has any reason to be on top of you, if you know what I mean. A big airy spacious gym!!!There are TV's to watch on the first floor and TV's to watch on the second floor. There are chairs and tables to sign up with employees for interested first-timers. There are massage chairs near the front of the gym, plus hydra beds. The ladies locker room is a good size. Plenty of lockers for everyone!! However, the rule is to use your lock for the one visit only and to take it with you, because they don't want anyone moving in. No reason to - plenty of lockers to go around. The bathrooms are near the lockers, with four stalls for the ladies. There are four showers to use after your invigorating workout. My only complaint is that they only have one changing room. There should be at least two of those. I forgot to mention about the parking here. There is a huge parking area, with parking all around the club. If you enter the front of the club, there is parking and if you enter on the side of the club, there is parking. Aaron Bramble, Club Manager is the perfect person for his job. Aaron is friendly and easy to talk to - always a welcoming smile for anyone who walks in. Diwan K and Jonathan C. are the two employees I see overnight. These two are always working, refilling towels and solution to use on the machines. They are always cleaning the floor and taking out trash for the dumpster on site. They are also kind and pleasant to be around. Abby, Megan and Hannah (trainer) are wonderful also. I enjoy conversing with these young ladies as well. Chris is another employee that I see overnight. He is also a good worker as well as being personable. I truly enjoy working out here. I am a Personal Trainer and I hope to train anyone who is interested in being and staying healthy. Check out my video on FB under Krystique Personal Fitness. I love you all Yelp Family!!! Good night!!

Wow. I'm super impressed with this PF. It's super clean and there's two levels!!!

You can even get a 1 day pass online and not have to make actual contact nor is it expected probably. For the monthly pass, with no enrollment fees, mind you, you would need to make an appointment the first time around. If you can make it at least 5 times to the gym within the month, then it is worth getting the 24-7 access by the month. Most gyms wanted to charge me an enrollment fee for a partial one month period, and it was just not worth it to do that for me. Most gyms don't have 24-7 access and those that do will tack on this enrollment fee. I was planning to work out manually but then I had thought of this gym and tried asking and glad I did! There are showering facilities which I wouldn't have expected, but it's super nice to know that I don't have to leave sweaty and head straight back home if I don't want to. Definitely a potential incentive to keep working out and makes it feel less like a stressful event. One of the showers doesn't even work currently, but there are two others that do. The toilet paper rolls look worn out and it feels like if they were fixed, some musclehead might accidentally break it again by pulling too hard on it. Another one, during one time I was there, the water was accidentally left on and I turned it off, I could see how one might be in a hurry and not have closed the faucet all the way. You just try to do the right thing with minor things like that. Most clients probably would prefer to drive home and use their own comfortable shower rather than the one provided here. There are also a few bottles of wipes provided, but I was probably the only one who would use them or maybe they would only be used by others if sweat got on the equipment. There's a whole array of apparel from online that can be shipped directly to you and pictures of history and pride of the gym and the owner's past interests and successes. I can't fully appreciate the equipment that is here nor understand how to use much of it. I tried to look what equipment was what and how to use it when I could and sometimes I just did things by looking and feeling them out enough but making sure I could handle the weights and such if things didn't quite go as I expected. The only thing I wish this gym and most gyms could have is an optional local community event to get together and just chit chat once in awhile, maybe like every month or 2 or 3 months. I have run into a few that do this or did this once in a rare occasion to try it out, but it is a way to try to build community so that I'm not just showing up and leaving. Gyms that have classes, as I can't make those regularly, I'm not able to socialize that way. So, the classes have become not a big deal to me. The personal trainers I've tried at other gyms is hit or miss, more miss The trainers I tend to like to work with the least are the ones that have been hired through a mainstream gym because many of these people only want to work with certain clientele and they may do things like not show up to their appointment or put someone else in place when that is not the standard practice at most gyms (and this probably should be the standard practice at most mainstream gyms.) They are trying to go for the "relational" connection building, but most gyms are way too transient for this on both the client and staff sides to be effective. A few reviews have said that one can just ask others for help. While I probably could've, I did feel like as a non-jock, I would be intruding on someone else's workout and if I asked them something, what could I offer them back that they would want? Sometimes, a "thank you" might be enough, but I guess living in this world and how it's changed and socially, not for the better, I feel uncomfortable without more context. Even something as simple as I recognize that brand name on your shirt or something "generic" but thoughtful like that could be enough. I think there are people who are probably really nice, but some that would be super annoyed. You don't always know 100% but you just get that vibe. Even things more in my space and YelpE, and even in things where I definitely level off enough with others, I have not built the tight friendships one might expect. A few people did say "hi" when I was least expecting it, and one person ended up going into the gym even thanking me for "letting him in", but I wasn't actually letting him in and I didn't want to create an unnecessary conflict. I also just wanted to leave the gym at that time too. It was safe to assume he had a valid pass and just wasn't finding his pass or working the system right. This slew of gym types is typically less advertised I believe as a Baltimore friend thought this type of gym didn't exist near him.

This place is cash only and let's you pay lump sum and will waive enrollment fee if so. More places are starting to offer the lump sum option now instead of me having to ask for it. I was looking for a gym for one month but it is tough because either I am paying an enrollment fee AND one month which isn't worth it at all, or I pay by the class and some places have very limited hours. I could probably do Planet again or even Orange Theory but I was hoping to find a more local place. If this place was a closer commute for me, it would be worth it for me to sign up for a year. I want a self paced place since most places are either you get pushed and if you take a break or go too slow, you have to leave or are asked what is wrong with you. Everyone has different needs and wants. Or I do not have a budget for a personal trainer and some of the ones I have had at chain gyms are really particular about who they want to work with, and paying in full beforehand is not always enough sadly. I have a gym reimbursement fund but I have used it up for the year and that is a factor that is important to me too. At the end of the day, I understand that part of a gym experience (for me) is picking a place that will not overly stress me out. Accessibility and getting for what I paid's worth and all the peculiarities are important to me. You can't get 24-7 access unless you pay for a full year. This was probably the biggest clincher for me. Also as it is a small community atmosphere gym, holiday hours are not necessarily reflected on signs and website. You just have to ask or make it work. It is also cash only. 12/22/23 addition: When I first came to ask about enrollment options during hours, they were closed early for that and I got an announcement through the Ring bell to come back the next day, which thankfully I could. When I came back the next day, I was told a little story about how a "bum" came up one time just fiddling around with the door like nobody's business. Then, when the owner spoke through the Ring bell, the "bum" thought Jesus had spoken to him and he behaved himself after that! The joy of technology!! In my opinion, this is a good gym choice if you want a self paced workout and can pay in full for the year for the 24-7 access. Also, if you aren't looking for something that has a clean and polished look, which I don't need but I am open to either way, this is a good choice.

Before this, I had never in my life been able to find a fitness class or gym membership that worked well for me. As a stay-at-home mom I really needed something unique to help me get back into shape after my second baby. I am not comfortable leaving a newborn baby with gym babysitters and I don't want to pay for a private babysitter just to exercise. After much research, I found THIS! Moms on the Move is a cardio/weight training class that allows me to take my baby with me to exercise, and it's during preschool hours so I don't have to take 2 with me! Plus I get to chit-chat and have interaction with fantastic women while I exercise. It's not just for moms with babies either, or moms, or babies. Peace thru Strength offers every type of fitness class, personal training, and group exercise you can dream up and with class times that fit anyone's schedule. One of the best parts is that it is PAY AS YOU GO! No monthly gym membership that you have pay for regardless of how many times you exercise. Plus, you'll be hard pressed to find better prices in the area. I know I sound like an advertisement. I'm not - it's just that awesome.
