There is a new company (NFP} that purchased most of the local planet fitness locations including this one in aston. They have deceided to cancel all the news channels on their TVs. They want to control what we are watching? People should have a CHOICE. I enjoyed going in and watching the news while I walked on the treadmill. Again, we should have a choice of what we want to watch. i do not like any sports so I will not be forced to watch them. I urge everyone to cancel their membership! read more

This Planet Fitness is great! They always make me feel at home. The customer service is very welcoming and helpful. Check in is easy, even if you don't have the app they can check you in by your phone number or name. The equipment is always clean and the locker rooms and tanning rooms are impeccable. You can use the equipment as long as you want because they have plenty of weights to choose from. If you need help getting in shape just ask for a personal trainer, they have some really great ones that provide you with the best advice and support for your workout journey. Aston PF is finally remodeled!!! Time to upgrade the review. I am ecstatic my original PF club from 12 years ago which I left because of bad experiences, is now back in my club rotation. In fact it will again become my primary club in the PF chain. Clean. Fresh. Equipment is well placed. The new Hydromassage beds are great. They still have the seated chair massagers too. The best part is they hired staff who care! Everyone is friendly and very knowledgeable about fitness and willing to share that knowledge. They tailor instructions and advice to your age group. I have seen several staff members working with people that were in their 70s and motivating them to go the extra step without putting them through routines designed for 20 somethings. I'm back here 3-4x a week and very happy. read more

Over the last few years this location has been remodeled and rearranged to add more machines which is nice but the space is pretty congested as it currently is arranged. I know this isn't on the staff, but I am seeing more and more people not clean their machines after they use them. I do see staff cleaning the machines and vacuuming which is encouraging to see. After visiting other locations, I feel like this location is one of the worst and sadly it's the location closest to my home and my home club. The staff do not enforce many rules. The dress code has become non-existent. I see people work out in Tims, jeans and low rolled down sweatpants. People are on their phones having full blown conversations while on machines as well as using any machine with a seat as a place to sit and text but not workout. I don't know why PF keeps having the 30 minute workout take up space, no one actually does the full circuit. People just go in there to use the machines or as stated earlier, just sit and text while hogging the machine if someone wanted to do the circuit. I would rather they remove that and just make that usable space. If you ever want to do a workout using a workout mat, there is only a small space back in the corner for a few mats. Other PF locations I've been to have a nice dedicated space for those who want to use mats. This location makes me question why pay extra for the black card, they never check it while asking to use the extras. Other locations have a cool computer you can scan and check in. At Aston, you usually have to interrupt the employee while they are talking to their friends or looking at their cell phone. read more

It's always clean and just like any other gym if you know the patterns, you can go there when it's not very busy. Plenty of machines, plenty of weights, and I especially like the 30 minute workout which I do every time I visit. read more

Ive been a PF member for over 8 yrs. my PF in Aston is a great place from the time you walk in, someone is always there to greet you with a smile and leaving, they always wish you, a great rest of your day! the staff is awesome! I was really excited about signing up here. I signed up for the black card membership ($20/month), mostly because I wanted to take advantage of the group fitness training classes (they're free!). I hadn't been to a gym in years, and didn't remember how to use anything other than the cardio stuff. The MAIN REASON I signed up was to use the non-cardio machines. I asked whoever was at the front desk what class I'd have to take to learn how to use the equipment. "You have to take the 'Designing Your Own Program' class first." Ok, fair enough. I guess that's my answer. I like working out in the mornings, so I signed up for an 8 am class on a Tuesday. This time slot is reserved on a schedule available at the front desk. 8 am Tuesday rolls around, I go to the gym. The trainer isn't there. The guy at the front desk tries to call him with no luck. So I got blown off. I reschedule right there for the next week. Unfortunately, there was a death in my family, so I had to cancel the day before. I called them, and canceled. Last week, I call to make the same 8 am Tuesday appointment. I should have known better! Because I showed up this morning, at 8 am, and I got blown off again. All I want to do is learn how to throw some weights on a machine so I can not throw away $20 a month. It's not worth it for me to pay that much to only come to the gym twice a week for cardio. I could go for a jog outside for FREE. I ask the manager if I can transfer my home gym online, because you need to do the training sessions at your home gym. He says I can, and also answers my questions about canceling. I come home, try to transfer to Clifton, but you need to be a member for 90 days before transferring your home gym. KEEP THIS IN MIND! Luckily, I talked to the trainer at the Clifton location, and he was super helpful. I'll be going there from now on, until I can officially transfer to my home gym in a month. If you already know how to use all the equipment, I'd say, "Sure! Sign up at the Aston location!" But if you want a reliable trainer who won't blow you off because apparently 8 am on a Tuesday is way to early, don't bother. If the Rocky Run YMCA wasn't so expensive, I'd still be a member there. read more

Ew. EW. This place is smelly. And the treadmill I got on was STICKY. I'm used to the Planet Fitness in Broomall, and if it wasn't such a hike from my new place, I would continue to go there. The management and maintenance sucks at this facility. Earlier this year the ceiling fans were down for a few weeks. When they were fixed the part was installed incorrectly so as to draw the air up instead of down to the machines. it took over a week to get someone back to correct. Now the AC has been down for to weeks. This forces PF to close when the temps hit the 90s. Totally unacceptable. It took weeks to get the right parts for the fans to work. Now the AC has been down over a week and you close the facility. You could have had fans in. You also may want to look at the number of machines that have broken headsets. read more

Well personally I like the Broomall one better. Its lay out is awesome and has a section where girls can work out with free weights without being close to the guys on the benches. Aston Planet Fitness needs to put up two mirrors to the left of the free weights so the girls can workout without the guys being in the way. There is a girl at the front desk who is not pleasant and is a turn off. They need a rack of weight bars and there is no curl bar. (Not good) read more

I have been trying to cancel my membership for the last 3 months. I cant get up to the gym and I sent a letter and called 4 times. And I still keep getting charged. This time I got charged a $35 fee for overdrafting my account. I have been going through a hardship due to COVID-19 and the unemployment situation, including the recent cut in wages. Now this is over $150 that has been charged to me including fee from my bank, since I tried cancel. Manager is never available. read more

I originally signed up here because it is right around the corner from my office. It is brand new - in a former ACME market. It is only $10 per month with no contract - that was enough for me to sign up without even seeing it. Ive been going for over a year now and stepped up to the "black card" membership which is only $19 a month - includes unlimited free guests. unlimited free tanning, half priced drinks. The free weight area could be bigger - there is def an over abundance of cardio machines - bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, ect. The majority of the people that go are either seniors or high school kids...no meat heads really. read more

Pretty good gym. Has a lot of cardio machines. Has not as many weight lifting things. Pretty cheap membership plans ($10 or $20). Lots of people go. Sometimes you have to wait for a machine. There is not a lot of waiting though. A row of TVs lines the front wall. These TVs are tiny and hard to see. At least you can plug your headphones into a little box that plays the audio from these tiny TVs. 9 channels to choose from. In addition there's massage chairs and tanning booths. I've never tried the tanning but the massage chairs work good. Usually a bowl of tootsie and frootsie rolls at the front desk. Really slippery locker room floors. A lot of empty lockers guarantees security. No spinning classes or swimming pools. Pretty close to Wawa. If you need a gym close to a Wawa this is the gym for you. read more

its a great local gym!!...definately not ballys!...or la fitness, the prices are waaay reasonable good parking. near 2 supermarkets, and the neighborhood is ultra accessible, and clean! though this is not the place for the muscle man or triathlon girl...if you wanna work out in a friendly environment, with friends(get the black card for that) do it!! the membership is reasonable and if you can catch it, (like I did I signed up for a $1 and got the black card...over a year ago) the prices isn't bad at all......so try it, if all else fails leave....and its only 59 to opt out, or find a friend, try it (again black card!) and see for yourself!! read more

Ugh, Planet Fitness. Where do I start? To be fair, most of my gripes deal with the PF model in general as opposed to this specific gym. But here goes... the gym is large, but an overwhelming amount of floor space is taken up by a ridiculous number of cardio machines. The area designated for weights is way too small. The dumbbells go up to, what, 60 lbs or so? That's not going to cut it. And where are the barbells? There's not a single barbell (that's not attached to a Smith Machine) in the whole place! The "lunkhead alarm" is a hypocritical and pointless marketing ploy, but the worst part in my mind, by far, is the fact that on certain days, PF supplies its clients with free pizza and bagels! I loved this gym years ago. No one can fault them for being too crowded, because that means they're doing something right. However, front desk staff has gone rapidly down hill. They have become very rude and not accommodating at all. I like this gym. I was an executive for LA Fitness many years ago and although this does not offer the amenities that they do, I find out perfect for a nice workout. Pizza days are a little ridiculous. One of the front deal girls is obnoxiously rude and should be fired. Every other employee gets you with a smile and makes you feel welcome. This gym is worth the low price, but there are a lot of shortfalls that would drive me away if the price were higher. I do like that I never have to wait for a cardio machine, even during peak hours. This is a great place if all you want to do is cardio. There are too few dumbbells. Often there are a bunch of college kids camped out in the dumbbell area, and I have to wait a long time. The Smith cages are also sometimes full. The padding has worn off of the handles for some of the weight machines, making them uncomfortable to use. There are only two of each of most of the weight machines, but I have never had to wait long for them. I just have problems with the dumbbells and Smith cages. The staff never tell people to stop talking on their cell phones. It's a repeatedly posted rule, but there are often inconsiderate patrons having loud conversations in any part of the gym. I also once encountered a woman staff member in the men's bathroom with no warning. Dumbbells are often left lying around, or are put on the shelves incorrectly. There is an atmosphere of carelessness. There is only one water fountain, and the music is too loud. read more

I come in and the guy working there is on his phone. He tells me key scanner isn't working and that the power is out, so he will have to write down my number manually. I asked if/when it will be back on because I wanted to tan. He tells me he doesn't know. I asked for his manager for some answers... he told me she left for the day. Seriously? Then I tell him I can see the lights on the tanning bed are blinking so the power must've came back on and asked if he even checked. He told me no and that it will probably turn back off again anyway if it is on. Who hires these people? Maybe managers who leave in the middle of A power outage! Embarrasing on planet fitness' end to let a location operate with employees who don't care about customers. read more

I used to go to this gym regularly fairly late at night (arriving 9-11pm) and really enjoyed it - the front desk folks were always very friendly and overall I got exactly what I wanted...except for the cleaning crew. It started one night when I was in the shower and I heard the vacuum turn on, and I thought "Surely, that is not the cleaning guy in the locker room". It was! I was quite rattled and went and complained right away and was met with a degree of flippancy. You see, they have a sign that says a man is in the locker room, but it wasn't up when I got in the shower, and the guy didn't even try to check if it was clear. I gave up on showers after that, but it kept happening - I would be in the restroom area and the guy would walk in, or I'd come in after working out and meet the cleaning guy, smirking, and have to insist that he leave for 5 minutes. I kept complaining at the front desk, and apparently the cleaning crew is on their own schedule, so I couldn't schedule around them being in the locker room. I tried coming earlier, I tried coming later, and no matter what I did, somehow or another this guy would always end up in the locker room when I was. Long story short - not being able to consistantly use the locker room (even to change out of a sweaty shirt!) in privacy completely disrupted my routine and forced me to move to another location where, while it's much busier and noisier, at least I can use the restroom without fear of a strange man walking in. I think this gym would probably still be ideal if I lived around the corner (negating any need for a locker room) and/or I was a guy! read more

Terrible customer service and practices - tried to get my service changed and they "claimed" that it was done but I was still charged the following month for the upgraded services and then when I called they gave me a big story that they can not help me anymore because they are not my "home location" and every Planet Fitness is separately owned. Got a bunch of excuses and runaround service with no results. Cancelled immediately and got my bank to issue a refund. Worst run facility ever! read more

I joined but it is too crowded to work out. Kind of a small space and way to many people. Once night I go there and everyone is crowded by the door eating greasy pizza! What kind of health club is that? The equipment is very light weight, like something for your home gym. The maintenance seems to be failing as more equipment is out of order. Better to pay more somewhere else or find a bigger club, this one isn't really worth any money at all in my opinion. read more

I'm glad for a cheap gym, that is in a good location, however beware what you wish for. A 24hr gym is a great idea, but I can guarantee that you will want to go to the gym when everyone else does. They have the statistics available to let you know when the gym is the most crowded and it's very helpful. But, your options will then be very,very early in the morning or, after 8pm at night. When I am stuck going at peak hours, parking is difficult. I've complained about the people parked illegally to the staff. Its difficult to see around these cars and people drive fast through the parking lot. An accident waiting to happen. At peak hours, it is tough to find an open treadmill and if you do, the audio to the tv or ipod is probably broken. I was there on a Wed and bypassed three machines because of these issues and the one I ran on felt like it was shaking violently. I reported these issues to the staff who are very nice. They fix equipment on Fridays so they told me. They play overhead music that is beyond annoying and even when you go into the locker rooms you can't get away from it. If you put on headphones to listen to the tv or your ipod, you will have to pump up the volume to drown out the competing music, this is not good for your ears. If you use the weight machines, beware that a lot of men sit on the machines between sets or will trade off with a friend. I try to only use weight equipment in the off peak hours. You get what you pay for and in this economy its still cheaper than buying home gym equipment. read more
