I looked around and contacted several different trainers, Jeff responded before anyone else. Although I looked at a few others, I picked Jeff because I just liked him. It was an excellent choice. He is dedicated, he knows so much about wellness and more importantly he is always learning. I can ask anything about nutrition, lifestyle or training and if he needs more information, he finds out and then shares with me. The thing that matters most is that here I am, four months past my big day and I still train with Jeff. I am also so happy to say that my husband was so impressed with what he saw and with what I told him, that he now trains with Jeff too. I have been so impressed with the way in which Jeff has modified everything to meet my husband where he is. A very different place than where I ever was, and the results are already visible. Not only does my husband look healthier, he clearly feels better too. It has been such a positive experience for both of us.

Since I've joined, I've gained muscle, learned better technique and made some really awesome friends. I love that everyone there from their incredible training staff to the lifters themselves are knowledgeable and helpful to anyone that walks in the door. It really does feel like a tight knit family that is welcoming to everyone willing to put in the work, from the feel at the gym during classes to the chili cookoffs and Phillies games together. In fact, just this past weekend we drove 2 hours down to Delaware just to watch some of our friends from the gym compete in a strongman competition and it was a blast! We've brought numerous friends for drop-in workouts and they've all walked away impressed at the camaraderie and top of the line equipment that owners Katie and Brian have for their gym. Whether it's strongman, powerlifting, Olympic lifting or cross fit style workouts you are seeking, you can find it all at Power Plant, and then some. My wife and I actually participate in Spartan races and we love that there are numerous rigs, ropes, assault bikes, and sandbags to help supplement our training.

I did not have a good experience here. On the positive side, the equipment is quite good. There are…read moredeadlift platforms and two nicely built power racks. There are some bench platforms and plenty of chalk. There is also strongman equipment such as Atlas stones. So, whether you are into Olympic lifting or powerlifting or strongman training, there is ample equipment for you. The problem is the people. As long as you are putting money into their pockets --- as by paying for training, the trainers are attentive. So, I paid somewhere around $500 for some personal training, and the advice and coaching was solid. The problem is that once you stop paying, it is evident that the trainers and the owners could care less about you --- never mind that you are paying the monthly dues. So, after I finished with my personal training sessions, I was lucky to get a nod of acknowledgement--- from the owner all the way down to the staff. And if you ask for something as simple as a spot, they act as if you are somehow imposing. I might as well have been at Planet Fitness. Call me old-fashioned, but I feel that when you pay, you are entitled to at least be treated civilly. Finally, the unpleasant atmosphere was too much, and I canceled my membership. Summary --- good equipment, but poor people-skills on the part of the owners and employees.

They have a ton of rules posted about guest passes then they let anyone in for free. Not sure why I pay I could just walk in. It's getting dirtier every day. One girl cleans and does a good job but does so at like 10am. Why can't they do this when the gym is shut down? Or maybe more than once a day?. Wish the gym would suspend or revoke their memberships to those who can't figure out where the dumbbell they were using goes or those who just completely say F it and don't re-rack their weights. They have no bands. Their clips for the cable attachments seem to either break or get stolen just about every day. They have 3 basketballs. The pool has been closed for a while and I've never seen one person working on fixing it. Working here must suck. Over the past two years I haven't seen one person work here longer than 6 months besides maybe a salesman or two. I have no idea who's in charge of this place. The trainers don't last here for more than a month either. If I didn't live walking distance away I'd go to a different gym.

LA Fitness Is a Total Scam - Avoid at All Costs!…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. Over a year ago, I signed up for an LA Fitness membership and personal training under the impression that I could cancel anytime. What they conveniently failed to mention was that the personal training contract was locked in for a full year at $200 a month--no way out. Fine. I waited out the year, canceled the trainer, and thought I was done. But guess what? They kept charging me $200 a month anyway! And when I tried to resolve it? No customer service to call, no easy way to cancel--they force you to physically go into a location just to stop payments. So, I went in person to cancel. The employee gave me a phone number for a manager who could supposedly handle it. Turns out, the number was disconnected. So I went back--again--only to be told the manager wasn't there and I'd have to go to a different location. I drove 20 minutes to another location, asked for the manager, and was then told only the personal training manager could cancel it. That manager no longer even works there. The employee had no idea what to do, and I was left completely stuck--still being charged $200 a month for a service I don't use and can't seem to cancel. At this point, LA Fitness is literally just stealing my money, and I have no idea what to do next. I think I'm going to contact a lawyer. DO NOT sign up for anything at this gym unless you want to be scammed.

(note: I have not…read moreattended any of the fitness classes so I cannot speak for those but they always look lively and packed) Pros: Absolutely gorgeous facility. The lighting is great. Friendly and welcoming staff Great protein shakes Most people who work out here are friendly and not discouraging like most other gyms. Equipment is state of the art. Cardio movie theater is AWESOME!!! It makes you forget you're even working out. Great hours. Monday- Friday 24 hours and 7am-7pm on weekends Cons: They are often giving tours. Several times I've been on the massage chair and someone will just come in and look at you. Not the most relaxing experience haha. Perhaps management should look into showing the prospective gym members photos of the massage equipment or just briefly explain what's over there. Because it's weird to have somebody stand there and show the massage equipment while you're sitting there trying to get your massage on, ya know. Crowded at peak hours. We all knew it would be. However, find your perfect time. There's often times little breaks in between the rush hours where it's not as busy. Not going to share my perfect time so you don't go there when it's dead and make it crowded haha. Just whatever you do, don't go around 5am (weirdly crowded for so early I know that's what I thought too) or anytime between 4pm-8pm. You will have to wait for a bench or certain popular equipment. The movies they show... why are they almost always action or super hero movies... I prefer comedy and dramas but I feel like literally every time I visit the edge it's a super hero or action movie. Hey if that's your thing, perfect. But it gets old. Show some great comedies. Don't get me wrong, there's a few comedies throughout the month. But the majority of movies shown are action movies. The women's area... I was really excited for a women's area as my previous gym, LA fitness didn't offer this. But it's so small. All the equipment is RIGHT on top of each other and facing other equipment so you feel like you're staring at someone. And there's only four benches. So that's annoying. Especially when there's someone in there just taking the entire area by the benches by placing their bags and mats and stuff and talking over the entire area. It's hard to explain but you'll know what I'm talking about whencyo. Which actually happens a lot. Hint: ladies stop doing this haha. You ruin other people's workout. Share the grass and benches area!!! My piece of advice, it's more crowded in the women's area than the actual gym most of the time because of its size. Just workout in the main area. It's not worth the extra money a month. Overall, it's a great gym I would recommend to anyone. Friendly and welcoming staff. Great facility. Just a few little bugs and imperfections. But hey that's every gym you go to. every time I leave the edge, I feel happy and like I had a tremendous workout. And that says a lot. And yes, it's better than LA fitness for anyone wondering that! Hopefully my review has helped anyone considering the edge. I say do it. ********UPDATE********: I'm getting very angry at this gym. It keeps running promotions every month with free gym memberships and open houses etc. That are the Over the freaking top annoying. GYM GETS MORE AND MORE CROWDED EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!! No matter when I go it's crowded. And you have no idea how frustrating it can be to not even get a bench and have to wait. Sure the facility is gorgeous but stop giving away free memberships. All the gym wants is your money and they don't care how crowded and overly busy this place gets and makes you uncomfortable. I'm really mad. Also, they need a better system for tanning and massage. Massage chair has been out of order for a week. And the staff acts annoyed when you wanna tan. Like you are bothering them. Edge fitness look into your tanning and massage because the system is terrible. People don't go at their designated times. And it's just so annoying. They aren't monitoring to make sure people get out of the tanning/ massage at the right time. I even told them like hey there's a person in the tanning during my time and apparently it was MY JOB to get them out. So angry at this gym.

All of their work out facilities are on the second floor (except the pools). They have a large studio where almost all of the classes are held, a walking track (which overlooks two basketball courts below), and a HUGE fitness center. My favorite part of this gym is the fitness classes they offer; which include HIIT, Zumba, Combat, Yoga, Pilates, and more!! The instructors are fabulous and I haven't met one that I haven't like yet.

This is an animal gym for animals…read more The pool is too hot for serious lap swimmers. This is, sadly, typical for YMCA pools. But what is not typical? Abandoned Band-aids and wax earplugs in the water, hairballs that never get cleaned or filtered away, water that is too cloudy to see through after the summertime day-camp kids have their way with the place, and off-the-charts unhealthy indoor air quality (don't swim here with asthma). Plus there's the one lifeguard who asks for your phone number. Every time he sees you. Nothing in the building ever gets cleaned. The locker room mold is off the charts, and dust and lint accumulating on the air duct vents suggests a serious fire hazard. Speaking of nothing ever getting cleaned, please do not touch the plastic turf in the weight room unless you want to smell like it for days. The residue of Axe body spray, Drakkar Noir, and eau de dirty sock/foot sweat from people who take off their shoes and stroll around like they're the beach has steeped the turf to the point that it will literally stain your sneakers. A handful of the weight machines are already out of service less than two months after being purchased. Not sure if this says more about the clientele or the fact that the Y bought these machines from Temu. This place gets so crowded during peak hours (which is most of the day) that it's nearly unusable, and the crowding is compounded by (1) bad behavior and terrible gym etiquette which goes (2) selectively enforced by YMCA staff. Forget about using the weight sled; two boys are lounging on it. You wanted to use the landmine press? Sorry, a woman has built herself a dumbbell nest right in front of it. You want to use the plyo boxes? Too bad; a guy is draped across them while FaceTiming his naked girlfriend and you're about to be on camera. You'd like to walk on the track? Unfortunately, a woman and her small children need, for some reason, to walk five abreast and will give you a death stare every time you try to pass. Don't even get me started on the number of inappropriate and incorrect exercises the personal trainers have their clients doing. I guess it's convenient to have a physical therapy business across the room because yikes. It's no wonder the Upper Main Line YMCA won't give us reciprocity to use their facility. This is a human zoo. For what you get, this place should cost $5 a month. I will never get over the nerve of the Rocky Run YMCA spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a lobby facelift when they are so badly in need of capital improvements to infrastructure, staff training, and some gym staff who actually know what the hell they're doing.
