Awesome gym. Brand new equipment. Only downfall is no clocks anywhere to be seen, and the TV's in the machines aren't working yet...

He started out with a 30 minute lecture on the anatomy his stretches would stretch out, and while the information was kind of interesting I could've done without it. Once we finished the session and I was doing the stretches at home I found they were doing nothing more than making another part of my body sore, so they were having the opposite effect of what they were supposed to, so I abandoned them. My body seems to have loosened up organically on it's own, so this problem seems to have solved itself. Overall I was disappointed in the value I got for my $85. The only thing that prevented the review from being a 1 star review is I found he was very patient in teaching me the stretches, so that's a point in his favor.

I am grateful for the small progressions we've made already and I look forward to so much more. I am admittedly not the easiest client to work with, but I am getting into the groove. Some people, like me, are a bit afraid to jump all in. But I think that fear does go away. Travis is a person who conveys hope -- nothing could be more important in encouraging people to embrace a healing journey, whatever that might look like. The owner, Shara, taught us a group class and I loved it! She asked us about any injuries and took the time to come around and check in with us during our circuits for any modifications required. You'd be surprised how 30 second stations can kick challenge you yet leave you with enough energy to keep going. The warm up with the bands around our ankels, knees, and thighs was super challenging but also somehow stabilizing and didn't both my knees or back one bit! I loved the teamwork and atmosphere. The location is a bit off the beaten track in an industrial area but not a big deal. The inside is absolutely gorgeous! I noticed a sign that they also have "cold baths" and a "sauna." Sounds like the perfect way to end a workout here! I would absolutely recommend SVPT to anyone looking to challenge their fitness routine!

The other morning after some local MMA fights (and maybe a bit of overindulgence in the Strongbow…read moredepartment) I dragged my face off my pillow and joined my partner and other local mma fighter at SVPT to see what the hype is all about. I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Complete Martial Arts and Fitness alongside some of the best MMA fighters in the city, including a couple UFC fighters - they all do personal training at SVPT and only say the best things about owner Shara Vigeant and her facility. Upon my 9am arrival at the centre, I was greeted at the door by 2014 Global Women of Vision 2014 award recipient Shara herself. She was bright eyed and bushy tailed with a smile and showed me where to put my things. After taking a gander at the walls lined with signed glossies of winning athletes singing Shara and her trainers' praises, she had me sign a waiver and get right out on the turf. Our session started with a warmup. We did a bit of foam rolling, some stretches, box jumps, chucked a medicine ball around. I started breaking a sweat right away, but I wasnt uncomfortable. As we were working, Shara asked me about previous experience with working out, the gym, my jiu jitsu classes, etc. I am a complete beginner and have never experienced any form of serious gym workout or personal training. I was in for a treat! I had a great time sweating my ass of and hauling my weight around. I was amazed to see the strength and stamina of the athletes I was working alongside. The workout was quick paced and interesting. Absolutely challenging and even fun. I learned how to swing a kettle bell around, use some resistance bands, do squats with an elevated leg (tough one!) and even pushed a weighted sled back and forth - all the while thinking: My ass is gonna look great. The SVPT facility is incredible. Larger than I thought it would be and Immaculately clean. The air is fresh and moving, clean towels and access to water bottle refill station are available to clients. I'm no expert on what makes for up to date things at the gym, but the equipment seemed new, modern and well maintained. Half of the floor is green astroturf (all the better to push a sled across, i guess!) The garage style door at the back allows for natural light to come in as the sun comes up. After my session, I mopped the sweat from my head and headed towards the change room to shower and change. The beautiful modern change rooms were like walking into a washroom in a showhome - except times six! A line of sparkling showers with temperature controlled taps (not like the push-button, lukewarm and timed showers at gyms and pools) were closed in their own cubicles with private changing area. Clean sinks and well lit mirrors (even a little basket with some toiletries you may have forgotten) would make SVPT a great place to start your day and still be able to freshen up before work and taking on your day. (did I mention how clean it is? You know me... I like my public places clean!) All in all, I have to say I'm actually shocked that I appear to be the first review of this place! I had a great time, have nothing but great things to say about SVPT. Shara was an enormous help every step of the way, ensuring my posture was correct and pushing me to move forward. It was definitely a treat to see what all the fuss is about! I will make a habit out of this.

So follow my lead and head to Body By Bennett! Amazing, well-trained and super motivating personal trainers run the whole place. Unlike a gym, you only go in when you have a session with your trainer or for a group workout such as spin or yoga. But here is the kicker: I find that in just one or two sessions a week (with a highly trained professional, not some Club Fit rookie) I can stay in WAY better shape by doing 3 or 4 gym workouts a week. The other amazing part of being with these trainers is that they are experts in the human body and how to fix it when it has been broken! Like most Albertans that brave the crazy snowy roads of winter, I have been rear ended more then my fair share of times! So, my trainer really works on re-building strength in weakened areas as well as keeping me fit. This location has another really cool feature: It is designed to train armature and professional hockey players! It has a gigantic treadmill made out of steel that you run on in your hockey skates! They have camps for the kids as well as many of the Oilers that train here. If you live central, I suggest going to the Glenora location that is right beside Original Joe's. But for those living or working on the west end, or even St Albert, check out this B3, you'll love it!

A little while back I noticed Leduc was getting a Planet Fitness, and they've recently opened. I…read moreknow I need to start working out, and I'm not the kind of person to work out at home or outside. But I also get intimidated by going to the gym. Actually I haven't been to the gym for several years (even with the pandemic). Still I was interested in joining Planet Fitness because their membership rates are pretty cheap. I actually signed up online, because I didn't want a sales pitch. I got the basic membership ($15/month, plus a $40/year fee and a one-time $1 sign up fee). The membership is only good my this gym, and doesn't some perks (like there's a spa you can use at the higher level), but for what a need the basic is good. So I popped into Planet Fitness today. There were several staff members working and a few people signing. Since I already got my membership I was told by a staff member to just use the app to check in. Apparently, the used to have key tags but with Covid it's easier with the app. It loads a barcode that scan super easy. They I was asked if I wanted tour, which I did. I was shown around and given information about the equipment. I don't how large this Planet Fitness is compared to other locations, but it's a good size gym. There's lots of cardio machines, and I like with the weight machines there are photos on the machine to show you how to use it. The staff made to sure to share that Planet Fitness is a judge-free zone, and if I have any questions about anything to just ask. They also have a 30-minute circuit, and I was told when they get a personal that they'll be offering an abs and a yoga class. Not sure if that's drop in or if you need to sign up. I only stayed for about 30 minutes. I did a few minutes on an elliptical. I like that the cardio machines have a headphone jack so you can watch the tvs the have or listen to your own music. There's also a usb port to charge your phone. And I did a few of the weight machines and was able to figure things out. Each machine also has a QR code and you can scan it on the app and see a video on using each machine. And I didn't use the showers, but the locker room is very nice. Everything was super clean (obviously you're asked to wipe down machines before and after use). And when I was there maybe there was 4 other people working out. The app will tell you if the club is busy, so if you want to avoid working out when it's busy that's a nice feature. I've only been once, but I had a good first impression. And I appreciate on the tour that I wasn't being upsold on the other membership (which I think is about $25/month, so not unreasonable). Downside is that the location is in Leduc Common and this area of town isn't my favourite to drive in. But to go to the gym a few times a week it's not that bad. And if you go make sure to bring a lock for the lockers (day use only) because if you want to buy one it's $12 (which is almost the price of the monthly membership). That was my bad, but still that's a huge markup, so save yourself some cash and bring a lock. But overall I like the atmosphere, the staff, and there's certainly a lot of equipment to get good work out.

Located in the basement of an old looking building, this well kept, well appointed fitness centre feels like a broken in pair of boots that you've taken really good care of, oiled the leather, replaced the soles, and now you couldn't imagine life without them. Owned for the last 12 years by a super nice and friendly woman, all the kinks have been worked out, they have pretty much everything a person would want in a gym, and it's all spaced nicely with good amounts of room to perform exercises. I did circuit work a couple days, heavier lifting a couple days, so I used pretty much everything there except cardio equipment since the weather was nice and I ran around outside. Everything I used functioned perfectly, with plenty of attachments for all the machines. I've reviewed lots of gyms, but I've never seen the benches and machines they have at adrenaline. They use Magnum and Equalizer equipment. (80's TV show theme?) Nothing fancy or complicated, but always nice to work on something a little new and different. They offer free towel service, and sell water and Gatorade out of a bar fridge by the desk. I went to buy water on two occasions, but both times the person working (once the owner, once a staff member) gave it to me free, despite my having talked to them and them knowing I was just passing through town. They have a reasonably priced $6.00 drop in, or ten visits which don't expire for $50.00 - when I explained I was only in town for a week, the owner offered to sell me a "half ten visit pass" for $25.00. Really felt like they tried to give me good value for what I had come to do. The woman who owns the place is super great. Single mom, running a gym, we talked about the challenges of running a business and getting by. There's an older man and a young girl who is recovering from a major illness who also work there, I think that's about it for staff. The young woman is also really friendly, a wife and mother. Didn't talk as much with the guy, but he gave me one of the free waters, so obviously also a nice person. This is definitely my choice in Camrose, I'll give them my business 100% of the time. Thanks, Adrenaline Gym!
