I like the gym, but moving 30 min away should constitute a reason to term a contract.

If Karen owned a gym, this would be it…read more I am not one to usually write a review but my negative experience at strength fitness gym has prompted me to take a few minutes and warn other young adults to avoid this business. I would highly suggest against attending this gym due to the unprofessional and rude manor of the gym's business owner, Shari. The environment itself is very good. However, the entire environment completely shifts when Shari enters the room. If you do decide to attend this gym, be prepared for an owner who constantly asks if you wiped down everything you touch(even after multiple weeks of routinely following this rule). Be prepared for a barrage of snarky remarks and rude comments regarding rules that either you don't recall or were never explicitly told existed. My girlfriend and I were looking for a local gym to join for a couple of months before we headed off to college once gyms began to reopen this summer. We personally met with Shari and explained that we were looking for a two-month membership before leaving for school this August and asked whether such a short term membership was possible. Shari was pleased to have us join the gym, said that two months would be no problem, and got us all set with our key fobs and payment information. Unfortunately, now that I am leaving for college, Shari is hiding behind the fine print of her membership paperwork and choosing not to remember our very clear conversation about the two-month nature of our membership. Our accounts have both been billed for a third month and despite a personal conversation this afternoon in which we both apologized for not providing a 'written' notice as required in the fine print, and also offering to apply this additional month of payment towards a possible membership next summer, Shari shook her head at us and simply said 'No refunds, I am trying to run a business here.' In doing so, she essentially forced us to pay $70 for a month long extra membership in which we were physically incapable of attending the gym. We both feel that we have been scammed for our money and have honestly believed that she just wanted us gone. My girlfriend and I very clearly gave Shari an in-person 60-day notice of our intent to leave the gym this August when we joined the gym in mid-June and I find it completely dishonest and disrespectful that she will not honor a conversation that she certainly knows occurred at the start of our membership. As a small business owner myself, these difficult times during the Covid-19 pandemic have forced me to step up my customer service and make sure that my clients are both satisfied and appreciated. I sincerely hope that other gym owners in this region treat young adults with more respect and appreciation than Shari has demonstrated. I plan to take my business elsewhere when I return from college and would encourage others to do the same.

Great location, very convenient and close to the St. Croix bridge…read more Clean facility and friendly staff. Nice to open up a new membership there.

RVAC isn't huge, but there are usually enough machines and classes to accommodate everyone,…read morealthough management is sometimes slow to fix broken equipment, showers, etc. The women's locker room was an add-on and as such is a little awkward and sprawly, but there are enough lockers and after a while, you figure out which spots have adequate room and which don't. The owner did a big renovation several years ago. Since much of the labor was performed by employees, construction was a drawn-out affair. Maintenance has declined. Locker rooms aren't as clean as they used to be and the pool is perpetually cloudy. I always shower well afterwards and use the club towel to stand on because the carpeted floor grosses me out. My first review for this place was 4 or 5 stars but I've had to downgrade because of the cleanliness and maintenance issues. The club has a 25 yard indoor pool and a smaller outdoor pool that's open during warm weather. I'm a lap swimmer, and there are usually lap lanes available very early morning, midday, and at night. However, in the summer the club offers swimming lessons for children and there are large blocks of time that adult lap swimmers can't get in. Front desk staff will helpfully suggest using the outdoor pool, but it's so short that by the time you push off one end, you're practically hitting your head on the other end. Most group fitness classes are free. Quality of instruction varies, try out a few to see if you like the instructor or not. Offerings include yoga, step, sculpt & strength, Zumba, kettlebells, kickboxing, spinning, and others. There's a decent child care area, a real boon to parents of youngsters who need to get out and sweat! Prices are about average, and you can often avoid an initiation fee by signing up for a one-year commitment.
