The classes from the various teachers/coaches are so fun, up beat, and challenging in their own unique ways! Not one class is ever the same, which I love! I've driven by the FREE FIRST WORKOUT signs for ages and finally signed up online for a class. Location was clean, instructor was peppy, but the first thing she said was, "Do you have gloves?" No, your email just said to wear gym clothes, and to bring water and a towel. "Well, you need gloves for the class. We have a pair for sale for $20!" Okay then, count me out. /Scene. Way to waste my time and gas! No mention was made of this requirement on the site or in any of the THREE emails I received. The confirmation message literally states, "all you need to do is show up before class starts and you're ready to go!" Either the person I encountered was trying to make a quick buck, or their setup is deliberately misleading so that you'll arrive pumped for a workout and just pay for the gloves so you don't miss out. I've taken kickboxing before and I'm particular about my instructors. I don't own my own gloves because I don't go consistently. Other gyms I've been to have loaner pairs specifically for first-timers, even if they do push for you to purchase. I'm not about to shell out $20 to participate in a free workout I don't even know if i'm going to return to. After my visit, someone called to schedule me (not realizing I'd been in), and didn't have anything to counter the points I brought up or explain why the gloves weren't mentioned, just kind of vaguely saying they're small so they don't have room for spare gloves? Kickboxing is a great workout, but the lack of customer service here is a turn off. read more

About three weeks ago I had decided to try out kickboxing because I was bored of my gym and not seeing any real results. I needed direction and thought a class setting would be the right thing for me. I'm a new mom and it's very difficult to get away since I don't have much help at home, so I went to my first class at 5:30 am. They offer your first week free of classes, or they have a great deal for $24 that is three classes with a pair of gloves. I bought my own gloves so I could possibly go more than 3 times. My first class was with Emilee and she gave me a light intro to the different kicks and punches, she was so friendly and made me feel like I was already apart of their family. I didn't feel silly or uncomfortable when I didn't understand something, she lets you do your own thing and helps you along the way. My first class was AWESOME and now I'm seriously hooked. Every class I've taken has been so different every time, I love that it keeps me on my toes. I'm officially addicted and just wish I could go everyday! I'm already down ten pounds and feel STRONG, which is the best feeling ever. Love love love this location and their team. read more

This place is awesome. I personally did not get into fitness, and none of my previous attempts worked out until I found CKO. I used to try gym memberships, and I pushed myself to go, but it was personally very hard because I didn't know where to start. As someone who suffers from depression, it's really hard to get your body moving, and seeking out help helped me discover that I can do it. I failed the first months while I was there. I went almost twice in a row, and then the next week after I skipped, it was hard and it was rough. I felt disappointed, and I stopped going for a few months. I have a one-year membership, so those months just went by and I felt bad about myself, so I set myself small goals. I decided I wasn't going to give up this membership; typically gym memberships never last for me, but this one's different. This one is a group fitness class with wonderful and caring instructors that give us detailed and awesome workouts, and I think they really help, so to get started, I personally would say please try to go at least once a week. Decide when that day will be and just commit to going once a week. Do that for months, maybe two or maybe three. Whatever works for you. You don't have to pressure yourself because fitness is hard and it's not easy to get into. I struggled for a long time until I found CKO, and this is the place where I want to be. Kickboxing is actually very fun and very satisfying. The classes are very well thought out, and the instructors care a lot. Just try to do your best and take it one step at a time. Don't push yourself and don't stress yourself. Fitness can be very daunting, but this CKO made it very easy for me. read more

Owner is extremely rude! Doesn't follow COVID guidelines! My wife tried to cancel because no one wears masks and didn't feel safe there, but the owner started a massive fight over it. We just wanted to go our separate ways but he insisted on fighting over it. Terrible gym! read more

Over a year into going here and the definition I have now is amazing. You will be required to have your own gloves (disclosed on the website always has been). You will have to buy some there or somewhere else if you don't have any. Loner gloves, just the thought makes me want to gag. Gloves that dozens or maybe hundreds of people have used, no way I would stick my hands into a bacterial cesspool. I'll spend $20 thanks! You will have a hard workout every time you come here your chest will burn. Just keep at it. The trainers make each class different nothing repetitive. Trainers are very personable and appreciative. There's no easy way to fitness so find something you enjoy. I love coming here! read more

I have been kickboxing for about 2 years now and I train with fighters in Atlanta. During this holiday break, I've come back home to San Antonio to be with family but really wanted to make sure I kept up with my endurance so that I don't lose it when I get back to GA. I am beyond excited that I found CKO because not only are their classes a full body workout but I'm actually doing a variety of exercises involving weights and conditioning that I've never done before. How incredibly fun! Members range from total beginners to advanced. I love that their facility is so clean - yes, ladies, including the bathrooms! Jae, the owner and instructor, creates a friendly yet challenging environment to make sure we get the full body workout we are looking for but have a blast while we are doing it! I have no doubt that CKO will keep the weight gain off me this holiday break so I can go enjoy without worry!!! You're missing out if you haven't signed up here yet. I have been to a great number of gyms. CKO is absolutely the best kickboxing facility in San Antonio! The instructors are {simply put} amazing! They encourage you while understanding that you work at your own pace! They guide you AND take the time to show you techniques! They are my best cheerleaders because they support me in my fitness journey. It's not always easy but they are here to show me the way! The facility is always clean and even during a special event, you always get a bag! I also love that they don't just focus on kickboxing. They incorporate a great deal of calisthenics! I've been a member for the entire first year of CKO and it has by far the friendliest people I've ever met in my life. Everyone feeds off each others positivity and good energy the instructors all have some type of fitness background whether it's in martial arts or with cardio and weights. Everyone has something unique to bring to class and there's always something new to learn. I'm not one to write reviews often but this gym definitely deserves one. I have been a member for almost a year and I really love it here (quite frankly I would love to be a member forever.) The owner, Jae is so friendly and so are the other trainers. I think it's amazing that the owner is so involved by teaching classes, reaching out to members, etc. Since day one I have felt very welcomed. The work outs are difficult, but do not let that scare you away. All of the trainers make sure that there are modifications if there is something that you are struggling with. There are a variety of classes you can take - yoga, strength and circuits, and kickboxing. They also will have stretch lab around every once and a while to help you with stretching if you need it. I have been a member at other gyms before and the results never really showed. At CKO my results came in quickly and I noticed a change in my body from the intensity of the classes. Every class is different which is really nice too. it's a positive environment and the instructors really care about us. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic I should also mention that they take everyone's health and safety very seriously and make sure that only a certain amount of people are booking classes and they are very on top of cleaning the gym/equipment. As I get closer to 40 my stomach decided to start collecting fat. Going to CKO was a life changer for me. I quickly started to shred the fat and build muscle. I've never gotten as great a workout anywhere else. Unlike a regular gym where you just go through the motions, at CKO you get a trainer for 60 minutes motivating and pushing you to reach your goals. The trainers are all amazing and each workout is unique so you're never doing the same thing twice. I cannot recommend this place more and have gotten friends and coworkers to join as well. My first experience with CKO was in NYC - it is by far one of the greatest workouts I've ever had. There is nothing like CKO in SA. I've been a member since it opened in SA. It's a full body workout where the instructors are totally invested in not only each member's workout but their overall well-being. If you need modifications for whatever reason - prior injury or you are just getting back into a healthier lifestyle - each instructor will be able to assist you to still have an intense workout even with the modifications tailored to your situation. A friend from work told me about this gym so we decided to go in together to try it out. Kimberly was an awesome instructor! I hadn't worked out in over four months so I was a little nervous but Kimberly took the time to show us all the boxing moves before the class started. This class was fun and she kicked our butts! Update: Good gym workouts and owners overall are nice but found some condescending attitudes from the trainers at times. The owner was not helpful when I expressed problems with a medical issue. I told him I had 2 herniated discs in my neck and his response was you can't pause membership without a medical reason. I walked away from the conversation going ok... I literally just told him I had a medical issue. He did not give me further instruction at that time to get a doctors note. He blew me off. I had been through hell with my mother passing away (she almost died a number of times over the course of 3-4 months) around same time my neck problem popped up and hadn't been in and attending to a gym membership was furthest thing on my mind. No refunds for those months. He did lower my rate by $10 a month but was not warm about it, acted like he was doing me some huge favor. I've been paying another number of months. I asked to pause or cancel my membership this month and brought it up last month as my sales job is dead and so no income due to national emergency. I let him know I can not afford it this month as I'm out of work and I can pause or cancel, up to him. His response was I can't pause without a doctors note which I can get but need to save money at the moment so not going, and I can't cancel without 30 day notice. I let him know last month it was getting tough. Good customer service would have been, well our policy is 30 days written notice to cancel so keep that in mind if it's getting tough. I thought it's his business he can do what he likes. I held to to paying last month because the gym workouts are great! Best in the city I'd argue. And because I believe in supporting small business. He tried to rope me into paying for this month also after I told him my income has been totally shut down due the national emergency! He's knows that's not some excuse or BS story. I let him know I'm appalled and disgusted by his customer service (lack there of) at this time. Told him I'll be cancelling via the credit card then! This was over text. He calls me and talks to me like I'm some immature child, in the most rude and condescending tone! He was calm but spoke to me as if I'm some jerk he's gotta deal with! He talked DOWN to me the entire conversation and then acted offended for being called out on his lack of customer service and trying to force me to pay during a national emergency when my income has been cut off! Apparently he thinks I'm stupid and can't see he doesn't give a flying F about me as a customer, he just wants that membership fee. He also tried chastising me, that he's trying to run a business. Like I'm dumb and don't know that and didn't stretch myself to support his business. I've been to one class in like 6-8 months but kept my membership going. He should be thanking me for my patronage and being gracious, not being condescending and difficult! He did agree to cancel it without the 30 day notice but apparently had to make me feel bad and be condescending and burn the bridge first. Lost what could have been a loyal lifetime customer instead of just being gracious and helpful to begin with. He invalidated me as well stating he hears all kinds of stories. I absolutely love this place! I've been a member for almost a year now and it has been amazing! I've tried gyms to even working out at home and it's just not the same. I never dred coming, I look forward to coming! I can't say enough about the staff. They motivate, inspire, encourage and help you every step of the way! They're actually more than staff, they're family. If you want a superb workout in a welcoming, fun, friendly atmosphere, then this is the place for you! If I could not give any stars for this company i would. They lied about how much it would be a month, lied about us having to commit to a contract, and lied about when our contract was up. I was disappointed in the lack of knowledge the instructors had when i injured my hand and therefore had to stop going. I do not recommend this gym to anyone. read more
