Firstly the good parts: Eli sounded professional on phone and arrived 2 hours after I called. He was friendly, clean and competent. I was comfortable allowing him into my home and satisfied that my apartment was secure when he left. The bad parts: he was all over the place with numbers and discounts and cheesy "for you...." type quotes. Originally changing cylinder only was around $230. But he pressured me to also change door handle which I hadn't planned on ( my other locksmith assured me it wasn't necessary.) I caved to the sales pressure bringing my new quote to $350. Finally he said he would do it for $310 after I promised to write a good Yelp review for him. After he finished the work he wanted me to write the Yelp review immediately before he accepted payment and applied discount. I said no because I did not have time, but he kept pressuring me and didn't seem at all to care that I was late for a job assignment. I ended up not taking "good Yelp review discount" and paid $337. I would have given him 4 stars and a short but sweet review with a full recommendation if he had given a price and stuck to it and not tried to buy a good Yelp review. He also didn't give me a receipt or invoice. Of minor annoyance was that he parked in my neighbors driveway and asked me if that was ok, I clearly said "no" and urged for him to move vehicle immediately. He said "I'll be quick' and ignored my request. So I would only recommend him if you are in desperate need of someone righty away, just get a firm price before work begins and maybe an itemized invoice and be willing to haggle. Every door and window to the house was locked. I was so happy Eli came when I called. I needed to re-key my front door after we lost all of the keys over a period of a month. The door was an old french door and the handle was sticky, the internal lock mechanism was really rusty. I was afraid we'd have to replace everything. Eli re-keyed everything quickly (he changed out the tumbler) and then had a lot of trouble trying to make the handle and lock work properly in tandem. He spent a lot of time trying to figure it out and then realized that the door had shifted through moisture and settling and the locking pins were not fitting into the hole at the top of the door. He was hesitant to drill the hole bigger but we talked about it for a while and finally decided to do it. Drilling the larger hole solved everything. The whole lock was so easy to use afterwards. The price, although not inexpensive, was reasonable for the time he spent, and the house call. We got to talking and discovered we had a lot of experiences in common and had a great discussion on travel, family, marriage, life's slings and arrows. It was wonderful meeting him. I'm a technician by my self in a Hvac company I know how is it to be a tech ! Yesterday after noon I locked all my key chain at the house right after launch. I was helping a friend with get some repairs done around the house and volunteered to drive a cargo van to the Home Depot in El Cerrito. There I am with a cart full of supplies, lumber, and tools when I realized I didn't have the keys. I had a security issue with my apartment and needed a locksmith. I called Anytime Locksmith LLC and they gave me a quote on the spot for a lock change and a padlock cutting, and they were here in just one hour. Upon arrival and inspection of the lock, the job was sized up and handled very efficiently. The lock was incredibly old, with the doorknob and the deadbolt being attached to the same cylinder which made it very secure, but he did not have any problem whatsoever in removing and replacing the cylinder for the doorlock, and finishing the job quickly. The tumbler broke on my door, locking the door permanently at 4:30pm on a Saturday. Keymaster Locksmith did not return my call but Anytime Locksmith did. Eli committed to fixing it that day but was unable to arrive until 8pm yet still willing to complete the work that night. Upon arrival, he quickly identified the problem and completed the work professionally. He clearly explained what he intended to do and expected cost before beginning. He demonstrated the working lock afterwards and suggested appropriate lock safety.
