Mario told us in order to see the lease to an apartment we'd have to put down a deposit, and if we didn't like it, we'd get our money back. Well, we saw the lease and the terms, didn't like them, and requested our money back. We never signed any documents. We called up and were told that we'd get our money back once the apartment was rented out to someone else. They never gave us our deposit back after it was rented out. Mario said he'd 'personally' help us get our money back, but then began ignoring our calls, hiding behind his coworkers when we'd show up in person at his office, and eventually blocked all of our numbers. It's been a year a half and we are owed $3,300. A real shame. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. They are absolutely horrible! They're a disgrace to realtors everywhere. Beth Azalone and Lisa Ventresca are especially terrible to deal with, which is even more disappointing considering they're the partners of the company. If you found their listings on Zillow, BEWARE. Most of those listings are places that aren't available. They just want you to contact them so they can show you their disgusting, overpriced apartments. They told me multiple times, on many occasions, "North End apartments just sell themselves." That was their excuse for charging a RIDICULOUS broker fee and for being completely ignorant about every apartment they showed me. I was the one who found the apartment listing and yet I still had to pay them almost $2,000 dollars? Psshhh, for doing what? They knew NOTHING about the apartments they showed me. Couldn't answer even the most basic of questions. The lies they told me about my apartment were the main reason I took the place. They completely misrepresented the apartment and what amenities it included and let me sign the lease under false pretenses. And if I thought they were lazy before I signed the lease, AFTER I signed the lease and they got their money, they wanted nothing to do with me. They ignored all of my questions and stopped communicating with me altogether. read more

Boston is a city that is overrun with realtors. Think of the lower class burbs of Atlanta. Now take all of the paycheck loan locations and replace them with a realtor. Now you have Boston. Why do I need to point out how many locations there are that will rent you an apartment? It's because there is such a demand for them that 90% of their employees will show you places with rusted gas stoves and floors that you can stick your foot through. On the plus side there are the other locations like Anzalone. The first time that I went in I was horribly confused. I couldn't stop thinking to myself "Why are these people so nice?". There is a very simple answer. They are good people. Flat out they are professional, nice, on time, have good listings and are the first people that you should do business with if you need something in the North End. read more

I was moving from across the country to Boston for school and had been warned that a good real estate agent is rare if not impossible to find. After some research on Yelp, I called the best rated agencies in the North End. The first few blew me off or told me to check back with them and with some I left a message. The next day, Stacy from Anzalone Realty called me back and made an appointment for the end of the week. She was lovely on the phone and indicated there were places available that would meet my requirements and my small budget. During our meeting, she was just as lovely in person. She showed me four apartments that met most of my requests. Several times during our walk from place to place, she was greeted by someone she'd rented or sold to walking by. A very reassuring sign. When we returned to the office, she took the time to answer all my questions and I left with several good choices and without any pressure to decide before I was ready. A good real estate agent may be hard to find, but I found a great real estate agent in Stacy. Highly recommended! read more

This review is long overdue! This past September my boyfriend and I moved from Allston to the North End. Long story short, we had seen several apartments in the Allston/Brighton areas, and even a couple in Beacon Hill. One day, while walking through the North End with my mom and her boyfriend, thinking I'd be doomed to the streets of Allston with a bajillion students, we popped into Anzalone Realty and met with Stacy. She was a breath of fresh air: to-the-point, knowledgable, friendly, and beyond helpful. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her and the realty company! She was prompt with communication and honest. She listened to my needs and stuck with my budget, and ended up finding my boyfriend and I the most wonderful little apartment in the heart of the North End. We even have an amazing landlord, versus the slumlord we had in Allston. We couldn't be happier and are looking forward to staying at least 2 years in this cozy spot. I cannot say enough about how amazing Anzalone Realty was to me during the whole apartment-finding process this past season. I worked with Jose--what a gentleman. He's so kind and helpful; he somehow makes apartment hunting enjoyable. But, really, he stands out because he called me about a new listing because he knew it would be perfect for me. I had worked with other realtors in the area and, although perfectly nice, none were nearly as accommodating and attentive as Jose. Furthermore, after I had signed the lease, Jose still answered questions I had and kept me ritually updated about the old tenant moving out. Basically, Jose is the man. My girlfriend and I worked with Susan, she was great. We were in a major pinch as far as time and moving date. I'm not saying we were desperate but time was getting tight. I responded to one of Susan's ads, we met that afternoon, she was very pleasant told stories of the neighborhood, good places to eat, neat histories etc. etc. (i've been around the neighborhood my whole life so this was fun to hear another perspective). We saw 3 apartments and there was no pressure at all. "what do you like, what do you not like?" were questions she asked but mainly she let us take our time. Truely respectful and patient. Anzalone Realty is a great business to work with and I highly suggest that if you're looking for rentals in the Northend that you at least say hello and see what they can do for you. read more

Terrible. Beth is a disgrace. She is so unprofessional and knows nothing about the north end apartments she is showing. She doesn't know anything to point out as far as good features and is a space shot. Lisa is also ridiculous she doesn't get back to you in a timely fashion. Both of them are completely unprofessional don't inform current tenants they are showing apartments and don't communicate because each gave me a different price on the apartment. I worked with Stacy Schuster this past summer to find a 2 bedroom apartment in the North End. One of my friends recommended her after I had an underwhelming experience when finding my first apartment 2 years ago. Because of my prior experience being a poor one, I was delighted to work with Stacy. I emailed her the list of what I wanted in my new place and we exchanged a few emails back and forth about price range, etc. About 4-6 weeks later, she emailed me about an apartment that had just come on the market that day and she thought it would be perfect for my sister me. We ended up renting it and are very happy in our new place! I would recommend Stacy for many reasons. She is highly knowledgeable about real estate in the North End. She knows what you can get for your price range and I appreciated her insight about how my current apartment was a great space for the price because I had nothing to compare it to (I lived in a one bedroom prior). She is professional, down-to-earth, and reliable. She emailed me back promptly as well. One of the best things about her is that she isn't pushy. I didn't feel like I was being rushed along, she truly took her time with us. After we signed our lease, my parents wanted to see the new place and she arranged for this and was happy to do it. If you're going to hand over a realtor's fee, it's nice to give it to a realtor who has your best interest, is accountable, and is basically a rock star. I wanted to leave a review to praise the easy transaction I just had with Anzalone. I connected with Beth Anzalone after liking an apartment on Zillow. After some qualification to see if I was an ideal candidate for the apartment, I got to see the apartment which was as good as the photos made it seem. I then got to work with Beth and Lisa Ventresca (who got me my first North End apartment many moons ago). Have to say, the care and attention these two paid to make sure the landlord and I were a good fit was exceptional. In contrast to many North End brokers that will show you a cave and plop you in there without any regard, this is a refreshing work ethic. Also, the long and vast market knowledge Lisa has is a legit benefit. I mean not just knowing who owns a building, but knowing the family (i.e. being able to say "you know, so and so's daughter"). Been gone overseas for 2 years and once again Anzalone was incredibly helpful when I got home . I was so grateful to work with Maria again. She found us a great place and was super helpful. Again, paid the broker's fee and it was worth every last penny. I've seen other realty places pop up in the neighborhood. Some of them advertised good looking apartments. I even made the mistake of contacting a few. They all were full of it telling me the apartment wasn't available even though it had been posted that morning an hour before I called. I am in the process of relocating from NYC to Boston and had initially had an appointment with a broker who ended up flaking on the appointment. In a pinch, I reached out to a number of broker's based upon Craigslist postings and saw an awesome one bedroom in the North End represented by Anzalone Realty. If you are a decent person looking to live in a safe place, dont use these people to help you find an apartment! They are in it for the landlords who overprice their apartments. Don't adhere to code. Dont obey the law and will NOT respond to your requests or complaints! They will rent you an apartment. Take the fee then ignore you for the year. After which you are so fed up you move out. We stopped by Anzalone searching for assistance in finding a one bedroom apt. in the North End. After speaking with Stacey, she mentioned she had several properties we could view, but would have to wait until the next day. Well, the next day came and since she never called or emailed, I stopped by the office again after a few viewings. I found Maria there, who offered to show me a few things later that afternoon if I came back an hour and a half later. I think Maria did her best, but was unable to get me into any of the units - so this review is more a reflection of Stacey's follow-up than Maria's. Maria told us that Stacey would be getting back to us the next day regarding the units she had mentioned originally. Well, its been almost a week and we never heard back from Stacey or anyone at Anzalone Realty. Love Anzalone Realty! I rented an apartment on Thatcher street through Anzalone Realty from September 2006-2007 and was VERY happy with both the apartment and my experience with the realty office. The apartment was beautiful! Very clean, and well kept with a working gas fireplace, door entry system, appliances, etc (i've lived in so many apartment all over Boston and this one was by far the nicest). The only reason i am not stll in that apartment is because i got married and we needed a bigger space! I love the North End and highly reccommend Anzalone! read more

Absolutely terrible; so unprofessional especially when they are showing apartments. They don't notify when they are doing a showing and I have had them multiple times just walk into my apartment with no warning. They don't ask if they can show the apartment, they just tell you. They are supposed to notify 24 hours ahead of time but not once have they. I definitely don't recommend them, they don't care about their clients and are only out to make money. read more
