I rented an apartment through Core Property Group and was beyond disappointed with their service, especially given that in Boston you are required to pay one month's rent as a brokers fee. Getting in touch with our point of contact was difficult and when we had simple questions, such as how to set up our utilities, they said they had no clue. Currently, Core Property Group is showing my apartment to prospective tenants for next year. The agent Zack did not give the tenants currently living here even 24 hours notice, and when he entered the apartment he was cursing and extremely disrespectful. If you're going to have to pay a brokers fee anyway, go anywhere else. read more

I didn't even get the chance to see if Core Property group was a great resource, as my negative experience was rather immediate. I replied to one of their listings of a new construction building in Boston showing units for May/June. I had inquired if that building, given it was new construction, was taking any applications for a 9/1 move in. Zach B. immediately replied telling me to "Please read description. May or June only." I'm not sure where Zach learned his customer service skills (or lack there of), but I wouldn't suggest reaching out to them. If this is how he treat's prospective customers, I can only imagine the lack of respect that would follow for those actually renting through him. I plan to avoid working with Zach and Core Property and would advise the same for others. Rented through these folks a few years ago but avoided writing a review for fear of retaliation. I found a really amazing apartment through craigslist and was connected with Zach B. to see the place. This company seems to be owned by the same person who owned my building and several other businesses you will have to interact with - Dupont Real Estate, Genarro Realty Trust, and Intown Realty. Thus the concern that any negative review I left would result in an untimely removal from my apartment. I'm not sure what kind of shell game this is but it's extremely shady. When time came to pick up my keys, nobody could give me time of day - I eventually had to track down the leaving tenant myself. I met Zach once, and he blew me off for who knows what purpose after that while happily collecting my one month's fee. The lease prepared was also horribly unprofessional - an entire page of addendum was included that required me to agree to illegal provisions that were entirely unenforceable, i.e. immediate eviction if a noise complaint is lodged against me. All in all I'd tell you to avoid these folks like the plague, but it's Boston - are you really going to find better? read more

I rented an apartment through Core Property Group that was misrepresented to me. I was told there were two functional closets in the apartment, once I entered the apartment after signing the lease I realized that one of those closets was actually a utility closet leaving me no storage space. When I texted Zach about the issue, it went completely ignored. Aside from the complete misrepresentation of a material asset of the apartment, as soon as I sent over the broker fee I never heard from Zach again. He said he would send me measurements of the apartment, and never did. When touring the apartments, there was a complete lack of communication between the other brokers in the firm. I was led around the North End in many directions only to find that the broker forgot a key or was going the wrong way. It was a waste of time. I would not recommend going to Core Property Group if you could help it. read more

I have had OK experiences with this team in the past, but I would never work with this company again. I have also noticed that Zach B looks to have already received some negative reviews on Yelp. I would have written this review sooner, but I also feared some sort of backlash (Zach B has my cell phone number because the City Suites Property Management team gives out cell phone numbers to realtors who are looking to show apartments). He is incredibly unprofessional (I didn't care that he worse sweatpants, but I did care when he started to swear and act like we were old friends), and was very rude our last encounter (where he was showing our apartment to potential renters). I learned that he was best buds with the family who owned my apartment building, so it made everything else make a lot of sense. When the potential renters asked me "So, why are you moving out," (mind you, I was home because Zach texted only 1 hour prior to say he was coming over, and I was home from the gym making dinner), I responded with "We've loved this apartment, it has great character and good space, but few hate being sub-level, have problems with windows not opening and don't see eye to eye with the property management group." Zach cut me off and said "Well this is better than you had previously." I started to laugh out loud because how the hell does he know, and my friend made a comment "Challenge flag." Zach then walked around my couch to where my friend was sitting, and got in his face "Who are you? Do you live here?" When my friend responded "Yeah, well I'm here all the time, and I know their issues with this place." Zach then responded with "Good to know, good to know." (Honestly, I thought they were going to get into a fight, but I am glad that my friend had more class than Zach. I learned that Zach then went to our property manager, and told them we had someone else living with us that was not on the lease. I laughed out loud when the owner said that, and I asked him if he'd like to see the lease of my friend's apartment, in Newton, where he lives. It just so happens that after work, we spend time in the city/North End so he can beat some of the traffic home (anyone that knows 90W, you don't want to drive it between 5pm-7pm). After all of this, new requested to not have Zach B text us or come into our apartment. I have worked with much better realtors and companies. I am sure that people have had fine experiences with him, but if you are ever in a situation where you may have to work with him multiple times, I suggest that you find another realty group or work with one of the other folks from Core. read more

Horrible agents. They will text you literally minutes before they show up asking to show your apartment to prospective tenants. Actual text I received from one of the agents today: "I know it's a pain, but can I show your unit in 5 minutes?" I am not at my apartment and don't even have time to respond before I get a notification from my camera that someone is inside my apartment. He walked right in like he owned the place without my permission. Total violation of privacy, also illegal in state of MA. When they're called out, the agents don't even respond. Not to mention this is all happening during the COVID-19 pandemic. They shouldn't be shuffling people through units multiple times a day during this whole debacle. Serious lack of respect, integrity, and accountability. Bring your business elsewhere. read more

I rented a small unit on Charter Street from them for two years. While there was nothing spectacularly good about the unit or my interactions with the people at CPG, there was also never anything bad about them either. Laundry is a tad expensive and the one time I locked myself out, no one picked up the phone so I had to call a locksmith, but those are my only two complaints after living here for two years. This was my first apartment, so a couple times early on I would forget to pay rent through the app before it was due and every time the staff was extremely understanding and did not seem rude in the slightest. When it came time for me to move out I was given ample notice for whenever they were looking to show my apartment and was even asked if the times were acceptable for me. This seems. Like common courtesy, but there's a lot of horror stories out there from companies that don't do this, so that's one thing you can rest easy about if you lease from them. Awful. I worked with Giancarlo to find my apartment in the North End. He was great...but probably because he knew he would be receiving my broker fee. When it was time to leave...totally different story. 1. Most upsetting was that I know for a fact they went into my apartment to show it without hearing back from me first. Felt like a total violation. 2. Not once was there even any attempt to give me 24 hours notice. Simply text messages while I'm at work and can't respond right away asking if they can show the place within the hour. 3. I have an animal and expressed my concern about them letting her out. Only response? "Ok." Completely lacking in empathy, professionalism, or interpersonal skills. 4. None of them communicated with each other! I would be fielding texts and calls and essentially letting the other know when each other was planning to see the place. It's almost like they didn't even work together. How about half of their commission for being their scheduling assistants? I would almost go as far as to say I wouldn't rent from a property manager who uses them. Really stressful. read more

This review is about finding an apartment, AND the property management that "Boston Core Property Group" does. ***TL;DR version*** I could go on and on, but I'll summarize it in one sentence; avoid renting from Core Property Group, save yourself the hassle and go with someone who is reliable, punctual, and actually cares. ***The apartment hunt*** I went with "Core Property Group" out of desperation to live in the North End, nothing more. As I was in their office, I overheard their owner (Giancarlo Tiberi) make several misogynist comments about girls that walked by. I went over what I was looking for, and I was told what was available. No hassle there, it all worked out (despite the creepy comments about "tearing that up")... ***As property management*** We've all had bad landlords, I get it. But having Giancarlo as a landlord isn't any better than a disgruntled old man that wants to fix everything himself, who can be seen knocking at your door at 8AM because he wants to check your kitchen sink. Short notices to having the locks changed when you're on vacation. Terrible amateur paint jobs in the apartment. Cutting corners when prepping the apartment to live in. And worst of all, coming into your apartment with no notice whatsoever. And finally, every year you live in an apartment that is rented out by Core Property Group, your rent will raise in increments every year, with no real explanation. I get it, rent is expensive in Boston, but raising the rent with no upkeep to the buildings is kind of an obvious game to play ( I know this after talking to other tenants, who lived here before the building owner switched to "Core Property Group" ). read more

I was looking for an apartment in the North End and ended up in Core Property Group. Upon entering their office, it all seems professional. The office is new and looks good and the guys looked professional. Once we got to the apartment though, everything changed. All of sudden, the agent I was with got very pushy and hyper and kept asking me if I liked it and if I did we better get going right away so I could be first in line. He mentioned that other agencies in the area share the listing, so I better make up my mind right away. He got super aggressive and extremely pushy and honestly, he was a complete turn off and made me feel very pressured. The whole thing was a nerve wracking experience, one I hope never to repeat. I ended up with another agency nearby and rented from them instead. All I can say is no one should be that brow beaten when trying to make a decision about where they're going to live. I don't normally write yelp reviews but Core Property Group deserves some serious recognition -- especially Zach Barron who has helped me find my last 2 apartments in Boston. Finding an apartment in Boston is not an easy task -- there are a million places to look, thousands of Craigslist posts with pictures of apartments that are too good to be true - I have experienced it all & was extremely apprehensive to work with an agent again. But then I met Zach & he made the process so easy for me. I don't work a normal 9-5 and I have to travel a lot for business -- Zach understood my hectic schedule and arranged his schedule to accommodate me (whether that meant early AM/late PM hours & weekends). On top of that, I have very high expectations, I need to see the apartment several times before I make a decision, I always think of questions after I leave -- I am not the easiest person to work with. But I swear this man is super human -- answers questions within minutes of me sending them, always willing to take me back to the property so I could be certain it's the right place for me. Nothing is too difficult for this guy -- his goal is to find you the perfect place & he will go out of his way to do so. I really wish Yelp would allow me to give ZERO STARS. Core Property Group is your worst option when looking for a North End apartment. Giancaclo is highly unprofessional and has no problem walking into your apartment unannounced. He really isn't there for your best interests and is looking to be somewhat of a tough guy. Zach and Jason are quite annoyingly persistent, lack true experience in real estate and could have easily been high school kids taking a stab at showing an apartment. This firm exists to grab another brokerage fee and they feed off of high turnover through "strong arming" people out of apartments. There are several others I know who have had similar, and sometimes worse, experience working with this firm. Don't give it to these guys, you'll regret it! read more
