I have been a patient of this Dr. Wittenberg for quite some time, and prior to today, I had always found him pleasant and enjoyed seeing him. Unfortunately, my experience today completely changed my opinion. I have a plantar fibroma on the bottom of my left foot that has grown significantly and is now causing considerable pain while walking and even while sleeping. In the past, I received injections, but they were extremely painful and were no longer providing relief. Because of that, we previously discussed the possibility of surgery. During a previous visit, I was told that an MRI was needed before determining whether the fibroma could be surgically removed. My understanding from that conversation was that the MRI would help determine whether the fibroma was attached to the plantar fascia and whether surgery would be an appropriate option. I was unable to complete the MRI at that time because of financial circumstances. When I was finally ready to move forward, I scheduled it, but I was informed that the order had expired and that I needed to see the doctor again before a new order could be issued. That was the entire purpose of today's appointment. When he asked whether I had completed the MRI, I attempted to explain why I had not. Instead of allowing me to fully explain my circumstances, I felt that he repeatedly talked over me, called me "noncompliant," accused me of making excuses, questioned whether I was a surgical candidate, and ultimately told me that I should find another doctor to treat this problem. What made the interaction even more frustrating was receiving information today that seemed inconsistent with what I had previously been told regarding surgery. Today, he indicated that he does not perform surgery on these types of fibromas, which left me confused because our previous discussions were specifically about obtaining an MRI to determine whether mine could be surgically removed. If surgery was no longer something he was willing or able to perform, I would have appreciated having that explained to me clearly and respectfully. Instead, the conversation focused heavily on labeling me "noncompliant" and accusing me of making excuses. I understand that physicians make recommendations and that treatment plans can change based on medical circumstances. However, patients also have the right to make decisions regarding when they are financially and personally prepared to proceed with non-emergency testing or treatment. I did not continue returning for injections because I had already explained that they were painful and ineffective for me. My intention was to return when I was ready to complete the MRI and seriously pursue surgery--which is exactly what I was attempting to do. What upset me most was the lack of compassion and consideration for my circumstances. I did not feel heard. I felt dismissed and judged rather than treated like a patient who was trying to move forward with her care. I walked into the office expecting a routine follow-up and a renewed MRI order. I walked out feeling humiliated, extremely angry, and in tears after being told that perhaps I should find another physician. That was particularly disappointing because my previous experiences with this doctor had been positive. I never expected to be treated this way. Patients deserve clear and consistent communication about their treatment options, and they deserve to be spoken to respectfully even when a physician disagrees with their decisions or timeline. Unfortunately, I did not feel that I received either during today's appointment, and this experience has changed how I feel about continuing my care with this physician. read more

Was referred here after being seen in urgent care. Delt with issues getting the appointment when this office was called by the referral department. I ended up calling my myself and finalizing the appointment made by the referral department. Gave them all of my information and had an appointment set. Left work early to make the appointment only to walk in and be told they didn't actually save my appointment and the doctor needed to leave so I wouldn't be seen. So frustrating and I will absolutely not be making an additional appointment when you can't respect someone else time or even "save" appointments properly. read more

I took my daughter to see Dr. Wittenberg for an ingrown toenail issue. He recommended removing the nails from both sides on both feet to prevent future problems. My husband and I trusted his judgment--after all, he's the professional. However, during the procedure, we noticed that he cut her toenails crooked instead of straight. When I brought it up, he brushed off my concerns and told us not to worry, claiming they would grow back straight. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Within weeks, we noticed the nails growing unevenly, and they looked off on both feet. My husband took her in for a follow-up, and the doctor said everything was healing normally. Still concerned, I brought her back in for another appointment. When I expressed my worries and reminded him of what he had originally explained to us, Dr. Wittenberg became immediately defensive. He told me I was welcome to leave and get a second opinion. What upset me most was when he said my daughter could just get acrylics on her toenails when she's older and "no one would be able to tell." That comment was incredibly dismissive and inappropriate. He said he could fix them, but it would require cutting more of the nail--something I had no confidence in him doing again. The way he shaped her toenails--narrow, crooked, and overly aggressive--has left them looking uneven and detached at the corners. It's heartbreaking to see how self-conscious she now is about her feet. I trusted Dr. Wittenberg based on his reputation and good reviews, but I would never recommend him to anyone. We're extremely disappointed and deeply regret choosing this doctor. read more

Staff was very helpful , polite and have positive attitude then the doc Dr. David Krulewitz very nice and easy to talk to, funny but he hurt me with steroid needle. It hurts so bad I'm scared of needles just saying but doc made everything ok laughing @ me because I was having anxiety attack . My teen always gets ingrown toenails. We went to Dr. Levine before, and her toe wasn't numbed all the way when he took out part of her nail. She was in EXTREME pain. Nonetheless, we went to Apache and the dr was very thorough with caring for her toe. He spoke to her in a calm manner and explained what we can do to prevent this from occurring. awful and rude doctor. Didn't listen to me when I described the injury, what I had been doing to rehab/treat it, the pain I was in, or the concerns I had about it. Subsequently spent the majority of the appointment examining the wrong part of my foot. Just told me it was rare to injure the area where I was experiencing pain, despite the 10 second examination that I forced him to do bringing tears to my eyes and a gasp of pain. Basically, told me to just walk it off when I had told him not a minute beforehand that I was a believer in active recovery and was trying to gradually increase my activity but kept experiencing pain every time I tried and that was preventing me from walking more than a few steps at a time without assistance. 0/10 would not recommend to anyone read more

Not very happy with this place. After a visit to this place. Dr suggest to do some blood work done to prescribe some medication. After 6 weeks they haven't contacted me back. Terrible customer service, they billed me for xrays which they never told me it was a charge for it, not only that but they charged me again for my copayment. When I called to clarify the bill this girl Jasmin extremely rude and lack of professionalism. She wasn't able to fix my copayment issue and gave a different number to call. Though, prior to the appointment I asked if needed anything in which I provided my insurance information she said everything was good to go. Regarding Dr. Wittenberg: Being the heath field for may years I have come to understand that patient care, understanding and patience are of utmost importance in a patient and doctor relationship but, even more pronounced with an elderly patient. It does not matter how many degrees or expertise you have as a professional, because caring and empathy are always necessary when working in relationships professionally and personally. I usually take my elderly mom to get her nails cut at this practice on West Sunset. We love Dr. Wassel but had to see the associate Dr. Wittenberg because I found out Dr. Wassel has left the practice. Ok, so we go in for a typical nail cutting procedure. Dr. Wittenberg cut mom's skin, while cutting her big toe nail. Of course, accidents happen, I understand this. However, this was the Docs response " I have a lot of patients to see" You'll heal. My brothers sat and observed, and as a lawyer he deals with all kinds of people on a day to day basis, not only did he find this doctor to be arrogant, he didn't even say he was sorry to the patient, my 90 year old mom. This doc displayed a very poor bedside manner in addition to a lack of concern for an elderly person. I come back from my trip 4 days later to find my moms toe infected. Why didn't the doc or the office check in on her after this accident? No one cared or even communicated the least bit of care. Time for a new Doctor. read more

I chose this place cuz all the prior posts about ingrown toenails let me tell you this place is awesome you're so friendly nice made me feel right at home they know what they're doing I've had ingrown toenails all my life. If you have ingrown toenails make an appoint with them make sure you wear sandals because they took my care of both of my ingrown toenails right or left side toes at the same day that I went in so take sandals so you can wear sandals. The doctor knows what he's doing took really good care said the shots would hurt but the shots did not hurt in the toes use ice cold spray to numb it everything went great feeling good I'll follow up in 2 weeks with you but right now I can't believe what a great experience as well as I've got tired of doing it myself. Got tired of doing it myself and have to go to the doctor for antibiotics cuz my toes get infected. So if you got ingrown toenails don't wait around make your appointment here soon as possible take sandals with you cuz they did mine the same day I went in there's no consultation The Comeback the consultations right then and there on the first appointment and I had him do it all get it over with. What an awesome experience! Dr. Wittenberg treated my feet with such care. The removal of my ingrown toenails was quick, clean, and truly pain free. After a traumatizing trip to Urgent Care a year back, I was afraid to make another attempt at removing my ingrowns.
