Api has been doing my upper lip and eyebrows for over a year now and it's everything I can imagine and more. She listens, she very experienced and knowledgeable and has helped me thicken my eyebrows over this last year, I'm very proud to say they look great! Mind you I'm very petty and particular, so the fact that she exceeds my expectations means a lot! I came to the Bethesda location for a lash removal and she was pulling at my lashes while she was removing them causing my eyes to open, and the remover to burn my eyes, then at the end my lashes had white glue and she handed me lash shampoo to wash the glue out in the sink and it didn't come out. I had prepaid online and [[HIGHLIGHT]]she asked me for a tip at the end which I felt was tacky[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and then when I went home I had to pick through my lashes because the white glue never came off and was stuck to my lashes. I had high expectations for this place since it was recommended by a friend. However the work was very poor. They use lash clusters instead of individual lash application. They finished my lashes in less than 20 minutes. I paid 200$ for this service there is no way you are doing the right thing here. This is a premium service with a premium price. But they give you amateur work. I can and have done a better job at applying cluster lashes on my own. They also cut my lashes and lied about it. They used scissors across both of my eyes saying they were cutting the fake lashes. I cannot believe the poor service, lack of professionalism and poor technique. I will never come back. How I missed my lashes!!!!! I had extensions for years before covid and have been scared to go back. It's a bit commitment bc not only are you spending a couple hours inches from another person, but they are literally touching your eyes. Aparnaz is now my favorite place to get my brows done in DC and I wish I checked them out sooner! They pay close attention to ask you what you want first before starting. I usually just get my brows threaded, but one of the stylists suggested getting a brow tint and I loved how it looked to fill my sparse brows without having to try to fill them in every day. She said it lasts about two weeks and I didn't find it too pricey either. For brow threading, they're very detail oriented and I've never experienced another brow threading business in DC to be so precise. I would trust them with other services again and can't wait to go back! Side notes: You have to go up a few stairs on the side of the building to enter. The interior is very fun, like a glam and colorful Victorian living room. I would recommend booking an appointment but I haven't had any trouble walking in either. read more

I have received service from Aparnaz Lash & Brow Bar numerous times now. My service includes full face threading. My threading technician is an expert! Every visit she ensures all unwanted hairs are removed from my face [chin, neck, lip]. Additionally, she has helped the wing of my eyebrow grow back by properly threading my eyebrows in a way that shapes them while creating space for my eyebrow wing to grow back fully. Each visit, I notice my eyebrow wing growing incrementally, so my threading technician is doing a great job. The Bethesda location is intimate, quiet, and has a small footprint; so, the wait time is minimal. This is a great location because you are in and out swiftly to enjoy the reminder of your day. This review is specifically only for Mamta - if you are wanting some lash extensions done, she is your girl. I recommend only her to those who ask where I get my lashes done in the city, especially if you're on a budget like me (I like other salons in the city as well, but they're much pricier). Mamta does a great job, quick but the quality is great (aka she has a lot of experience), and I have no complaints at this price point. The first time I came here, I had such a bad experience, I thought I would never go back - the initial tech used so much glue, took forever, and missed at least 25% of my lashes during my first full set. I also asked for cat eye and what I got was 2 very distinct lengths of lashes, no gradual change in length. I did come back a week later after my trip to ask them to fix it for me, and they fixed it for free, which I appreciated. However, then I was recommended to go to Mamta by my friend who also goes to this salon, and I haven't looked back since. As far as brows go, I usually ask Mamta to do them for me as well before my lash appointment, but I also really like catching AP for my brows only as well, she does a great job too. I highly recommend going not during peak times, as I have had multiple times where my appointment got rescheduled last minute, or my session is delayed or interrupted by people needing to get their brows done. This seems like the fault of management overbooking their schedules, not at the fault of the techs themselves. Lastly, the only technical note I have is - I think this place should always start off with a quick lash cleaning. It's the one thing that bothers me, and I think it would really elevate the experience. read more

I came here for a classic full set ($145 before tip) with Mamata (sorry if I butchered your name!), she asked how thick I want my lashes, what type of look I'm trying to achieve (cat eye, more natural, more towards a fuller lighter look etc) just so she knows the length and thickness of lash she should put on me. Start to finish 1.5 hours, I requested for something minimal and natural. She did a really good job, I would go back but it is a little bit too far for my travel so I have opted to go elsewhere for slightly cheaper but a lot closer to where I live. DO NOT TAKE ANY TRAINING HERE. It's a scam. I have been trying to get in contact with someone about the lash lift/tint & lamination course that I attended on October 8th. I was very dissatisfied with the course. On your website, under class overview, it states that we would be learning theory review, safety & sanitization, client consultation & consent forms, aftercare instructions and live demonstrations. We did not learn any of those topics. Also the kit that was provided, our instructor told us that we cannot use it on real clients. So what is the point of providing a kit? Especially when on your website it says "Starter Kit (up to 10-15 treatments)". I looked up the "Starter Kit" on Google, and it was worth $19... We did not have a live model to watch the instructor perform the procedure so we had to practice on each other. This did not end well for myself because the student that did my lamination was not being watched during the procedure. The instructor left the student in the studio room for 10-12 minutes to thread a customer's eyebrows which resulted in my eyebrows to be over processed and my eyebrow hairs burnt and broke off. One of the students brought her own model who stayed for the entire course basically receiving a free lash lift/lamination class and then that model ended up taking pictures with us in the end holding someone else's certificate. Everything was very unorganized and unprofessional. From sharing unsanitized tools, not wearing gloves, leaving students unsupervised during a procedure to not learning everything under the class overview and not being able to use the kits you provided. I have emailed them repeatedly and got one reply stating "Someone will contact you soon." I never received a call or email back. I wasted $600 on this class and learned nothing! read more

The absolute worst lash extensions I've gotten done by far. Came in with high hopes thinking it was the right place to go to because of their good reviews but left very unsatisfied and upset at the finished product. Kay did my lashes and she seemed incompetent from the very beginning. She taped my eyes shut way too tight to the point where when she took the tape off it felt legit felt like duck tape was ripping off my skin. When she went to show the end result of my lashes, awful was an understatement to describe it. Clusters of lashes were already falling out, large gaps were evident throughout, and it was just messy overall. (I'll attach a picture below but even the picture doesn't show how truly terrible they are) Never coming back here again and if your ever thinking of coming here, do yourself a favor and don't. read more

I tried this place for the first time today, and I am incredibly disappointed by my results. My lashes are clumped together, twisted, the glue is visible, and after telling Kay I wanted a natural look, I came out with clown-ish looking eyelashes. I am sure that my poor natural lashes are going to take a while to recover from this one. Additionally, they feel really heavy and uncomfortable. Kay also did not wear gloves during the application. I kindly told her that I felt they were too long and asked right after she wrapped up if they could be fixed, but she just looked confused and I am not even sure she would have the ability to fix them so, here I am. I never leave bad reviews, but after getting extensions for three years, I have NEVER been so disappointed to the extent that I am panicking trying to find another spot to fix them because I cannot go into the office like this. I have never done this before, but I need to call out this business and wish I could get not only refund of my money, but my time, and my face back. While keeping my eyes closed for a "service" that set me back $150, I was treated to, at top volume a litany of which clients had or had not tipped that day (named), individuals literally walking around my body and shouting about their weekend plans, and a heated discussion next to my head about a client who "broke the mirror." A couple of times, a timer went off and I asked if maybe that was for me, since I was the only client there. When I opened my eyes, the only difference to my lashes was in my wallet. If anything, some of my natural lashes were ripped off. I'd added an eyebrow tint as a treatment and asked beforehand that it not be too unnaturally dark. I went for eyebrow threading and it was okay, nothing to rave about. My eyebrow lady is all the way in Herndon, VA so I was hoping to find a good one in DC, but this place and others I've tried in DC have been disappointing. Primarily because they lack the attention to detail that can make or break the look of your eyebrows. They didn't thread the lower part of my eyebrows symmetrically and I previously had a straight line that they screwed up and made more curvy. All in all, not a horrible place to get your brows threaded but if your OCD about your brows and like someone that's very attentive to detail, then you may be disappointed. read more

I was pretty impressed with the photos they had after researching a lot of microblading places in the DMV region and traveled 45 minutes into DC to get my brows done at Aparnaz because it seemed like they know what they are doing. I was a bit frustrated that they charged me the full $550 in advance for the service instead of the $50 I thought my card was being charged a week before I even set foot in the place. However it worked out fine because I loved my brows done by Johanny (I hope I spelled that right). She was very meticulous and fast and I was delighted with the finished product. When I asked her to add a few extra hair strokes in one spot she happily did so. I will update this review when I have seen them set after a month or so. read more

She's so patient and knows what she's doing. I had my brows threaded somewhere else a while back and they over-did it...brows never fully recovered, but with Aparnaz's advice and technique, they're starting to look fuller again. Dissenting opinion here, sweet people who work here and likely very skilled at eyebrows, but should not be doing anything with eyelashes. They don't have good lash isolation technique so glued multiples of my lashes onto an extension. It's very uncomfortable to wear. I got my eyebrows done at the Bethesda outpost and was so disappointed! My brows look terrible -- the technician took too much off the bottom part and left the top unruly. Her threading technique really hurt and the owner kept yammering on at customers while I was there, dispensing lots of unsolicited advice and thoughts. This place has great skill in the threading I received. This was the first time getting my eyebrows done since February and I was pleased with the clean up. The reason for three stars is for the customer service I received on two occasions. The first time, I walked in about three weeks ago to see if there was any available. When I first got there, the door to the room was awkwardly half open and there was no sign depicting I was in the right place (probably to keep the noise level down from the coffee shop across the hall). Nonetheless, it's not a welcoming feeling for first time visitors. The waiting area was quite busy, and the lady working said I could wait for her to be finished with the others but recommended coming back and to make an appointment-which was fine since I had a work meeting 45 minutes later. As instructed, I made an appointment this past Friday for a time that worked with my schedule. I got to there at 1:03p-the appointment was for 1p, so yes I was 3 minutes late, but I had an unexpected delay with traffic due to the March on Washington. Once I arrived, the artist doing another customer's eyelashes took about a minute to acknowledge us staring in the awkward entrance to the room and let me know that "the eyebrow girl just went to lunch, not sure when she'll be back, but it shouldn't be too long but I'm still not sure. I don't have a way to contact her so you can wait for here here or come back in a few." I wouldn't typically have a problem with this, however, if your appointment system is going to require you to pay for the services at the time of booking the appointment, you'd think the employees would review the appointment book and take their breaks at a sensible time... read more

Mamata did an AMAZING job on my last extensions, wow. I'm so impressed by her as a person and a professional. The lashes look beautiful and are staying on so nicely. She is very talented. I think that the salon may have run out of the gel pads that they usually put on before the tape? She had to put tape directly on the skin around my eye and it's left a lot of dryness and irritation. I would definitely go back again and again, so long as they have the gel eye patches to protect the skin around the eye. read more

There was one girl working and she was super sweet! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the Henna seems to be less than average- after two days my henna is almost gone which is very disappointing when I took good care of it and avoided chemicals and hand sanitizers, etc. the middle of my hand was almost completely faded after 24 hours and I was charged $30 instead of the $25 they advertise on their website.
