I went for my initial full lash appointment and received a text asking to push back my appointment because she "was running late". That's fine, it's my day off and I have time. She was pleasant to interact with in person. I felt a few pokes during the appointment on my eyelids but the end look was fine. However, as soon as I got home I started to have fallout. I've had my lashes done for over a year and I know how to take care of them. I have my own brush and lash wash. From just the bike ride home, I found 2 lashes on my shirt. Poor lash retention. I am leaving soon for vacation, so I scheduled a mini fill in. I get a text that Kristin "has an emergency" and has to cancel the appointment - like many other reviewers. I saw a friend of mine post on her social the service she had got done from this company. I was very optimistic and excited to get assistance from this company. I encountered two different instances with this company. I made an appointment and paid the deposit the day of 4/13/21 and heard back from the business that same day. However, the business contacted me and let me know that they weren't able to approve the requested appointment because she needed cushion time between her clients and that she wasn't sure why the small frame of time showed up as a request-ale time. And of course, I was like, "Okay, no worries, I'll figure out a new time and day to schedule." So, that's precisely what I did.... 5/4/21 I booked their service truck to come out to my home for a friend and me to get the eyebrow henna service. The service truck is a fee, and so is the eyebrow service, which I was okay with. I received a receipt for the purchase. I called on 5/5/21 to confirm my date and time because I knew that my day would be busy. The phone rang and then went to voice mail, and shortly after, I received a text message asking to provide my name and date of appointment. She responded, stating there were no appointments available. So, I asked her if someone could call me instead of texting to figure this out. She said, "Not while with clients. The next available time without a client is 8 PM when I can give you a call." Again okay, cool, whatever, I'll wait for the call. She then also stated, "I just checked the system & you don't have an appointment scheduled it looks like from what you sent me you purchased the service but didn't "schedule" the service." Okay, at this point, I am frustrated and just want a damn refund. So, that's exactly what I told her. That was all at 12:34 PM. I got no call, no text, and no email. I sent her a text at 10:07 AM 5/6/21stating, "Just give me a damn refund. I'm over it. This is the second conflict with scheduling." We finally go back and forth over text messages from 11:38 AM to about 1:50 PM. She tells me in one of the messages that I "requested an appt" a request is subject to approval or denial and that my appointment was denied because of the timing of my request. You would think she would have caught this the day prior when "I made my appointment and when she contacted me." That would have saved us from a heated text exchange and the yelp review. One thing that really set me off was the fact that she tried to tell me she called, and maybe it just wasn't received.... So, did you leave a voicemail, send an email, write a text? Of course, she didn't because she didn't call. This was shady and a waste of time. I wasted even more time contacting my bank to dispute the charge and get my money back. I wanted to make a review a couple months afterwards because I genuinely thought I was overreacting at first but after months of reflecting, I know I wasn't. I got certified with Kristin back in January and let me just tell you my experience She was going to train me that morning but changed the time which I didn't really care about. I had also came an hour late because I was lost in a different part of dc The flyer says you will be trained for 8 hours now that was a lie she didn't tell me until AFTER I gave her my deposit that it would only take 6 hours to train me (which turned out to be 5 in reality). If I had known that from jump I wouldn't gave her my deposit. I thought that was so deceitful but I went anyways bc I already gave her the 350$ non refundable deposit. Second, when I showed up she sat me in front of a computer to watch an application video on youtube and after I watched it that's when I was given the mannequin head... if you're teaching someone how to apply lashes why are you making them watch a video shouldn't you ACTUALLY be teaching them?? On top of that my application was so poor at the time and she was just on her phone while I was struggling she helped less than 5 times but she was not paying attention to me like an instructor should have. After an hour of struggling we had lunch and then took on a real client. When we got to the real client she didn't tell me to sit next to her or watch her do them she just did the girls lashes and handed me the tools to do them. I was struggling while she was on her phone and the only feedback I got was "you need to be more confident" the only reason I wasn't confident was because I was not taught properly and not to mention I was uncomfortable because the white passing model used a racial slur in front of me. She certified me but I had to literally learn so much on my own after the class until I felt comfortable with lashing. Oh and by the way the glue and products she gives you with the kit is just trash and extremely cheap. Her training is a joke and a waste of money. After I went to another REAL class I realized her teaching method was poor. Truly money hungry. I say find someone who really wants to teach there students because this class was NOT it. The course was held over 2 days/ 16 hours where she gave in-depth theory about the lashes, the lash curl, tools, products, application and much more... we practiced first on a manikin head to get the feel of the application process and on the second day we practiced on a live model. Kristen's instruction made me confident when it came to the application process for my live model, and she was there every step of the way! Totally unprofessional. I found this business through someone I follow on IG. The month of August is very busy for me with various trips, so I wanted to make sure I had my lashes together. When I arrived for my appointment, I got a text from Kristin letting me know she was running 15 minutes behind because she hadn't eaten. I waited and was patient for the sake of being considerate, however I wondered to myself why she didn't time her appointments so she could have a lunch/dinner break without cutting into other appointments. Regardless, I was patient and didn't say anything negative. Getting the lashes done themselves was not a negative experience, she was quite friendly in person. It was my offline experience with her after the service that was off putting. About a week after the service, while I was out of town, I noticed that my lashes especially on my left eye were falling out a lot quicker than I expected. I understand shedding is normal and there are multiple factors that can impact it, but I felt like I already needed a fill after 1 week due to my lashes looking uneven. I had spent a good amount of my hard earned money and expected it to look more full at this point, at least long enough for me to not need a fill until week 2 or 3 (as Kristin had mentioned). So, I booked a fill on August 7 (10 days after my July 28 service) and left notes for Kristen so she was aware as to why I was coming in. I made the deposit and scheduled an appointment on Tuesday 8/9 The day of the appointment, I got a text from Kristin saying she was dealing with a vague "personal emergency" asking me to pick another date this week to get the fill. There was nothing available until next Monday. Since I was leaving for a trip on Thursday, I really only had Wednesday, 8/10 available. On 8/10, I get a text (30 minutes before the appointment) saying that she started a new medication and is feeling sick. Why does it seem like she always has some type of excuse? I am an understanding person, but I feel like she's insulting my intelligence. I said I hope she feels better and tell her I need my deposit back because my flight is the next day so there's no possible way I will be able get the service. Why didn't she offer the deposit refund outright? I try calling her, no answer. She says she'll respond when she's able. Seems like she prefers texting. Which is unprofessional, in my opinion, because things can get lost in translation over text. I also ask if I can get some form of a credit for the service (I never asked for a full refund). She essentially proceeds to gaslight me telling me that I reached out two weeks after the appointment (she actually said 13 days and then 14 days - can't keep her story straight), when I in fact booked my fill appointment 10 days after. The time has only been passing to almost the two week mark because YOU haven't been available She talks about how there is a policy to fix excessive shedding 48 hours after the service, but that policy is nowhere to be found (and she wasn't able to point me to it when I asked). Want to know what policy is on there, though? Same day cancellation fees. Interesting how the customer is held to a different standard than she herself. She continues to go in a combative back and forth over text with me and continues to be rude. As a business, word of mouth is everything. Your credibility is all you have. Integrity matters. She can delete this post if she feels like it, but I will share my experience so that others know they might get a decent service but nonexistent customer service.I was in shock that I was in a texting back and forth with a grown woman whose BUSINESS I am patronizing like we're in high school. I cannot in good faith recommend this business to anyone going forward, especially if she's going to be mean. I booked an appointment with Kristin through ClassPass, since they know have added spa experiences to their menu of workout classes. I booked the day before (approx 24 hrs prior to the scheduled appt time) and promptly received an email that night explaining exactly where I should go to meet her. She had a trainee with her at the time, but my lashes were only done by Kristin. She was finished exactly in the two-hour window she proposed (similar to classic lash appointments I've had elsewhere) and then I was on my way! The lashes were done in her apartment above her old studio, as her new studio is still in progress. She had everything she needed in her apartment and still managed to make it feel like a professional environment. Now here's the thing: I've had my lashes done many times and every single time I always get irritation in at least one of my eyes (redness, discomfort) for a couple days. This is pretty common, and I've simply dealt with it as the price of lash extensions, but it's obviously not enjoyable. With Kristin, I had minor discomfort during the service but nothing that was enough to make me ask for the fan, and almost no redness even immediately after. My lashes look great and I don't have to carry around eye drops in my purse for a week which is a bonus. Yes the setup seems a little informal, but I actually appreciated being able to contact Kristin through text when I needed to and having that ease of communication, and as I mentioned before, once you closed your eyes you felt like you were at a salon. Initially, I was impressed with Kristin's work. However, things quickly took a turn for the worst when she was routinely late for appointments and/or tried to convince me to my reschedule appointment for another day (on the day of and at the scheduled time of the appointment). Most recently, I waited for Kristin for an hour and she was a no show. I called and texted three times- no response. An hour and a half later, she texted me: "Sorry, my calendar never saved your appointment." I was leaving to go on vacation the following morning (which is why I wanted my lashes done), so I very upset and annoyed. I asked for my $50 deposit back, but she refused to give it to me. I not only lost my deposit, which was infuriating, but I also had to go out of town with sparse lashes. Here's my advice: I've gone to various lash extension establishments in DC, and there's a reason why she's cheaper. You get what you pay for. Also, DO NOT TRANSFER MONEY VIA VENMO like she requests. Venmo is not meant for paying for services so you will have a difficult time getting your money back when she is a no show for appointments. That very day she promised that she would send the money herself if it didn't go through. Today is 6/18/2022 and she has blocked me after keeping in touch for 2 weeks about getting my $82 dollar deposit refunded. Like all the other reviews regarding their unfortunate experiences with the business, I too sadly must concur. Some of these other clients have stated that they believe this business owner is deceitful and money hungry and it is disheartening to say that I too would utilize those sentiments to perfectly summarize my experience with this owner. I made an appointment the day prior to my service. In order to utilize the scheduling system to make an appoint, the owner requires that the client put down a 63% deposit. The very next day, four hours before my appointment, the business owner lets me know she needs to cancel because she doesn't have the product necessary in order to provide the service. Mind you she had contacted me the day prior to let me know she was ready and looking forward to the appointment. Not only did I rearrange my schedule so I could make the appointment, but to let me know four hours in advance !!!!! You think she would have known the day prior that she ran out of product. Any reputable business in the hands of a responsible owner would ensure that they've done an adequate and thorough job as applicable to supply inventory. On top of this when she had to cancel my appointment she refused to refund my deposit and came up with a bogus excuse and simply would state "deposits are nonrefundable, period!". To add salt to the wound it took her a week to even respond after I had been attempting to get this situation resolved. Then to add further insult to injury she was very rude and unprofessional and aggressive and what was stunning is that she had the nerve after coming at me with that type of demeanor to say that it was I that was behaving in such a manner when she was outright refusing to refund the deposit for an appointment she as the owner couldn't adhere to for failure to have the tools and supplies necessary to even provide the service. Yet you refuse me my deposit of nearly $40 back???? It was apparent that I was dealing with an unprofessional individual whom lacked integrity and she could not even remember the right deposit amount and thought it was lower in her frivolous tirades/attempts to justify her indefensible actions. I noticed that the very next week, after her failure to be able to make the appointment, she dropped the price of the service from $60-$50. She also runs a special on Groupon and LivingSocial which I found through further research. I agree with all of the other people that have had negative experiences. I wanted to book lip blushing services and was OFFERED a discounted rate without even requesting it (should've been a red flag right there- you get what you pay for!) and then after booking it, I was told to pay through Venmo (shoulda been another red flag as that is not a professional or safe payment method accepted by most reputable businesses!) so I paid $250 and still received NO receipt or appt confirmation or rules, policies, & regulations, a contract, etc. I requested ahead of time to reschedule my appt do to a work obligation- she said it was no problem and that she'd be in contact THE NEXT day to reschedule with me. Wellll it took DAYS AND DAYS for me to ever get her to even attempt to reschedule with me- she'd always text me back once then not reply again or tell me she'd get back to me the next day (excuse after excuse!)...so finally when I was like look- you never got back to me about rescheduling this when u said u would and I now have my newest work schedule for three weeks out (which is why I contacted her numerous times before the schedule posted to try to book my appt first!) so I'd have to wait an additional month before I could even get an appt. Honestly by this time I really had lost all trust in this "salon owner" and thus did NOT feel comfortable trusting her to use a tattoo gun on my face when I couldn't even trust her to text me back when she said she would! So I nicely explained to her that I would just like a refund at this point and we could both go our separate ways respectfully. She got snippy with me telling me it's in their policies that no refunds are granted and that she even gave me a discounted rate (ok- but I never asked for that?) I explained to her that I never was given or shown or even told about their policies or given a contract for services etc. she completely ignored this and refused to give me a refund and tried to still get me to set up an appt (no way lady) and then abruptly tried cut the conversation off and said that she'd have to contact me later that she was with a client right now. And that was it, she didn't text back again- so I texted her and just told her that obviously if she couldn't be professional and was giving me this hard a time about a simple refund for $250 to keep the reputation of her business responsible and professional then clearly she must need that money more than I do so to just forget it- I just hope she put my hard earned money (I innocently & stupidly entrusted to her!) to good use & I told her I'd keep her in my prayers as well. $250 was not worth putting my face in the unreliable hands of this woman who I couldn't even get to text me back with a definite response about rescheduling my appt on numerous attempts! Buyers/clients DEFINITELY BEWARE. Where do I even start?? Kristin is amazing. I had microblading done with her (her first ever!) and she did an amazing job. I am obsessed with my own eyebrows lol. She also does my lashes and they are always stunning. She makes time to fit me in and is super accommodating. I really can't say enough wonderful things about her. I have referred several friends and they've all been really pleased with her work as well. Not only that but she is located in the same building as a hair salon and nail salon--how convenient! I booked an appointment with Kristin the week of 06/04. I paid a deposit, and we both agreed to a lash service that Saturday coming up (06/09). Kristin did not show up to the appointment nor did she call to cancel. I reached out to her an hour prior to the appointment, called upon my arrival and even waited on site at her location for one whole hour. Looking at these reviews, there seems to be an occurrence with Kristin not showing up to her appointments. I do not recommend Kristin for lash services, there are so many more credible lash salons that will provide a better client experience than the one I received from Kristin. Before posting this review, I asked Kristin for a refund on the deposit I paid- she declined. Kristin- your no refund policy is completely understood. However it is absolutely unfair to a client for you to refuse to issue a refund after not showing up to your own appointment, there is no reason to choose to do business with you after such time was wasted. You always seem to have an explanation to justify your negative ratings, listen to your clients. If it were the other way around, you would've been just as dissatisfied. read more
