Perfect lashes loved when I was able to go here. Pretty impossible to get an appt if you work 9-5 though.

Story time! My lashes initially done in Jacksonville, FL and then at another salon in DC since moving here in January. While I've had lash extensions since November, not once did any of the techs at the other salons tell me the extension length I wanted was WAY too long for my natural lashes to support. I was having to spend tons of money each week to get a fill because my natural lashes just couldn't support the weight. Still being a newbie to extensions, I knew something didn't seem quite right with my current extensions but I just didn't know for sure. I decided to switch salons and booked a "fill from another salon" and was told to text photos of my current lashes to the Art of Lash. Within 10 minutes, Malin called me to discuss my current lashes and the possibility that they won't be able to fill on them. She suggested we re-book as a removal and full set (which is precisely what we did). When I arrived to Art of Lash for my consultation and (possible) fill, Christina sat down with me and completed a consultation before looking to the damage that had been done by other places. This is the first time I've had anyone really take me through the steps and ask me what I was looking for. She provided pictures of different shapes and before/afters of people to show the results. When I finally laid down and Christina saw my lashes, she was pretty upset. She said there was 1) WAY too much glue 2) way too much length (only 30% of your lash length max, mine were more than 50%), and then 3) multiple extensions glued together- meaning there was twice the amount of weight per lash. NO WONDER WHY I HAD SUCH A HIGH TURNOVER RATE!!! My lashes simply couldn't support the extension that were incorrectly and unskillfully applied by other salons. Of course this meant Christina had to remove my old extensions and then apply a full new set. Yes, it was a lengthy process (especially if you're not someone who can fall asleep aka me), but it was SO SO worth it. My lashes look amazing now and are much healthier with a normal turnover rate. When the appointment concluded, Christina was super helpful in giving me aftercare instructions, recommending a cleanser, and recommending I use a lash serum (since I like length & the extensions from before damaged my natural lashes). At the other two salons before this one, I was NEVER told how to clean and care for my lash extensions so this was so incredibly refreshing. Yesterday, I had my first 2 week fill. This was the first time since November I have been able to retain lashes this long and not look like a crazy person. Christina informed me my lashes were growing back in pretty well & my retention rate was awesome. Amazing what can happen when the proper length is used and care instructions are given! Art of Lash has changed my world! Moral of the story: if you're looking at reviews on here to make an informed decision, you've found your lash place. Don't risk your lash health just for cheaper prices elsewhere because this salon is 110% worth the cost. Christina is incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and an overall kind person. The salon is gorgeous and has wonderful aftercare products for sale as well! You won't regret getting your lashes done here! read more

I don't know where to start. Making is so amazing at her craft. I came in for a brow shaping and tint. As this was my first visit with her, she sat down with me for a very thorough consultation about what I wanted as an end result. Durning our consultation she explained everything that she wanted to do. Once we were done with that, she got to work! She explained detailes of what she was doing. Once she shaped my brows, she let me peek at them before she started tweezing. Once she was done with that, she started applying the tint. She made sure that it was covered and where she wanted it to be. Once that process was done, she went back over to make sure my brow shape was, what we discussed during our consultation. I don't like to look like I have fake lashes so she made my lashes look more natural. I had eye surgery which made me lose a lot of my lashes and she assured me she wasn't going to over do the lashes so that my natural lashes grows back. She was very observant in my comfort while I was on the table and ask about my upkeep and provided suggestions on what I needed to do as aftercare. I have been a client of Malin since September 2018 and have been getting eyelash extensions since 2013 in Hawaii, NYC, and DC. I have only gotten (Russian) volume extensions. Malin is unquestionably the BEST artist I have seen in terms of lash application, hygiene, customer service, and aftercare. Malin's work is exquisite. She creates each volume fan to compliment your eyes shape and accounts for the length, strength, and growth cycle of your lashes. Unlike the other lash artists I have visited, including two well known competitors in DC, I have never felt burning or stinging from Malin's lash glue; nor have I ever felt discomfort from the lash placement. Malin is also quick and efficient, without compromising the design and your comfort. She routinely finishes in less time than my actual appointment. Malin also maintains very hygienic practices. Before every appointment, she changes the sheet and wipes down the table with medical-grade wipes. She also cleanses her hands with hand sanitizer before putting on gloves and wears a surgical mask while applying lashes. She cleanses your lashes and removes stray extensions prior to the actual applicaton of new extensions. During my last appointment before the DC stay at home order went into effect, Malin gave me a mask and instructed me to sanitize my hands as well. Malin's customer service is bar none. She promptly responds to my text messages regarding appointment changes and manages to squeeze me in before I leave the city. She also notifies her clients ASAP of upcoming travel plans, so we can adjust our schedules accordingly. A few months ago, I experienced a scheduling snafu. Malin was extremely apologetic (even though she was not to blame 100%). To make up for the double booking (for which I accept at least 50% responsibility), Malin gave me a discount. It was unnecessary but greatly appreciated. Malin also provides aftercare instructions and demonstrates how to properly cleanse and care for your lashes. She provides extra lash wands applicators after each appointment. The brush and lash cleanser Malin sells are high quality and work well. She has never pressured me into purchasing her products after mentioning them once. I highly recommend using the brush and cleanser to increase retention of your extensions and maintain healthy natural lashes. Malin is also the kindest, sincerest, most genuine human being. Although I have only known her for a short period of time and only see her once a month, she always remembers our conversations. We always pick up from where we left off. I have delayed posting a review, because I did not want everyone else discovering my gem of a find in Malin. Small business owners like Malin need and deserve support from those who are able to extend their patronage, especially during economic downturns. Recommended! I got my first lash tint here before the holidays. The business is actually a space in the upper floor of the salon at this address, so just go up both sets of stairs and down the hall. I just looked around until I found it. Malin was waiting for me and called me in. Process was pretty simple - a quick sit down to explain and sign the paperwork, a trip to the sink to wash off my makeup, then about 20 minutes laying down while she applied the tint. She was super gentle and explained what she was doing as she went. We chatted for the 10 minutes the tint was setting in, then she rinsed it off and we were finished. Results are subtle but nice. I don't know that anyone would go "whoa", but I feel more confident with no makeup and it adds a little boost to my lazy holiday look. I'll definitely also get the "lift" next time (like a semi permanent eyelash curler), but I wanted to do the simplest option for my first try. Because she was so professional, I wouldn't hesitate to invest in extensions with her. I'm sure she'd do great work. Big props for the completely electronic booking and payment process. I booked and confirmed my appointment via the website and, later, she confirmed I wanted to pay that way. I left right after my appointment and about an hour later got a text from the service to add a tip and a review. Make sure to do this! It's a great convenience but I'm sure she misses out on some tips because folks don't complete the process. read more

I had an absolutely incredible experience getting my brows shaped by Malin. I've been getting my eyebrows tweezed by the same person for over 10 years but realized I couldn't keep driving 2.5 hours to see her. I was understandably nervous to see someone new but I couldn't be happier with the results at Art of Lash. Malin was so sweet and professional and clearly talented. Malin's the absolute best. I have been loyal to Malin for the past year for eyelash extensions. She has a beautiful, genuine energy, and I think of her as a friend. I love catching up and talking about anything and everything as she performs her magic. Also, she always lets me know if her schedule is flexible and if I can come in sooner than scheduled. When it comes to the lashes themselves, I always leave with them looking amazing. She knows what length will look best, and my lashes are the perfect middle ground between being obviously fake and confusing my friends and family who knew me pre-extensions. Back when I got eyelash extensions for the first time, she coached me when I expressed my confusion over text. I've learned over time how to really get them to last over the weeks. I have a few tips that I learned from Malin that make a huge difference. Tip 1: train yourself to not sleep on your face. When I'm side-sleeping, I usually prop a pillow or hand under my face to elevate my eyes and keep them from touching the pillow. Tip 2: use a cleaner for your eyelashes that is meant for them. The cleaner I have removes the rest of my eye makeup too. When washing the rest of your face with your face wash, avoid your eyes. read more
