But, my experience so far has been the exact opposite! The professor is well credentialed, very welcoming, and very patient with beginners. He takes the time to teach you the technique step by step so you can effectively and safely practice. Each class you learn a different piece of technique and start to build up a base of knowledge. The facility is very clean and well-kept. There are a variety of class options to attend throughout the day. The classes I have attended have been a mix of experienced and new individuals, but everyone is very friendly and helpful. Everyone is there to better themselves no matter what level they are at. As someone who asked for leniency in a time of struggle, I'd like share my upsetting experience. While attending this gym, I was struggling through abuse from men. I was also struggling to make ends meet, and I just wanted a place to put my head down and work. I was not left alone. Multiple fighters at this gym mocked and made fun of me in front of other members at this gym. I heavily avoided interaction. While sitting in my car on the side of the freeway, I texted and asked; "Could I possibly pause billing and attending for a two week period and then resume?" The response from the gym owner was; "Our system doesn't hold for less than a month." Luckily, God provided and my ex boyfriend offered to pay $200 for me to keep training. (That's the monthly rate.) I will provide a screenshot of this conversation. I asked in person to a kind instructor, and he told me that sounded very reasonable. There are a couple people at this gym that are genuine. After leaving a comment on a recent instagram post relating to this GuardianGym, I was contacted by the owner. (This post was requesting donations for those struggling financially.) She attempted to apologize, and in the same breath she asked for the deletion of my comment. Also while apologizing, she was attempting to blame and deflect the responsibility that she denied my request for a freeze. She then deleted my comment herself. This inspired me to share my experience. I want to add that in the screenshot she asked for me to add my card on file. I added my card. As seen, she later reached out to me to say "my card" was declining. She was instead attempting to charge my ex boyfriend's card, as mine ended in 3899. When opportunity to be rude presented itself, it was taken. I also experienced rude interactions with her daughter who is the 'pretty blonde girl' who works the front desk referenced in an honest review below.

I trained at Core a few years ago. Since then, I've trained extensively in muay thai and have…read morerecently started training in krav maga. Of all of the schools I've trained at in New York, San Francisco and even Thailand, I never got the same level of attention that I did at Core. In fact, I probably have them to thank every time I get complimented on my technique because if it wasn't for Eric and Erinn's eye for detail, I would not be where I am today. Too many gyms let students slide in technique in favor of pushing people through ranks or letting people just wail on bags. But that is not the Core way, not at all. Eric has a very unique gift for giving you an amazing workout while also really teaching you what to do. You won't just learn how to punch - you'll learn why you punch this way as opposed to that way, why you kick like this instead of like that. Really, the lessons I learned at Core have been invaluable. Also, Eric and Erinn are awesome people. They really care about their students and have a good time with the classes. If you're looking to learn martial arts and get in fantastic shape in a friendly, noncompetitive environment, Core should be your first stop.

I have been to Title and Easton for boxing, but I appreciate the super small class sizes (max of 8 for boxing), direct attention and instruction, and community feel of Gemini. The coaches, Dave, TJ, and Dion, all have tons of experience and are incredibly helpful. The other people at this gym are also warm and welcoming. I haven't done Jiu-Jitsu there yet, but I go to the boxing and kickboxing classes regularly, and bootcamp every once in a blue moon. I definitely recommend this place--the small groups lead to a lot of personalized support and it's an excellent value. I am feeling stronger, more empowered, and more knowledgeable about boxing as well as the mechanics of my own body. Highly recommend this great little spot in Englewood off of Broadway!

My son went here for about 2 years and we paid month to month. An incident happened where I had to…read morecancel his classes. Owner taught the class and was rude so I thought it best we go elsewhere. Emailed to cancel classes on the 14th of the month when charges come out of account on 1st. No response and I got charged on 1st. Emailed again for refund to owners and classes email, no response. Had to cancel my card and bank took over to get money back since had copies of emails. Owner does not know how to speak to kids and keeps charging even after we cancelled. Bank had to file fraud. So...... after I wrote this review, the owner finally decided to email me...... I took screenshots of the emails I sent in November and December and sent them back. Exact same email. ‍ I've attached his email.
