My knee was really messed up and my surgeon said some pre-op physical therapy would help with the post-op healing and he really trusted this practice. I was nervous, but found there was no need. These folks were amazing. That first time, I went through almost a year of therapy with better-than-expected results. Since then, my husband and I have gone back about 4 times over the years for PT. It's so nice that they remember us like it was yesterday every time, even if we haven't been in for years. We wouldn't go anywhere else. They've changed locations over the years, and we've followed Rich and Mike each time. I like their Hicksville location very much, and was introduced to Dr. Dave Cazalet. I hadn't met him before this round of PT, but he was as nice as if I'd always known him. The whole staff is great. There's lots of parking and the office is easily accessible and convieniently located. This office takes away a lot of the stress you might feel going to a doctor. Not only are they great therapists, the atmosphere is warm and friendly. It's actually kind of fun, if you can believe a doctor's office could be fun. Even the patients make you feel welcomed. And if first impressions matter to you, you'll be sold immediately when you meet Judy, the smiling face who greets you at the front desk. If you're in pain, I recommend you get yourself into Islandwide and feel better.

I had surgery in January that changed my life. It saved my life but the recovery has been one of the hardest things I've ever experienced. At first I met with Shadden who owns the facility and I felt immediately at ease. I loved how she spoke, she heard my concerns, what my goals were, and I loved her approach from both a medical and holistic perspective. (For anyone who has reservations about a holistic approach please hear them out before making an assumptions on what that means. I promise you it's not what you're thinking)...After meeting with Shadden she suggested I should do fascia work with Carly first to get started due to my pain, severe sensitivity, and adhesions all over my belly from my surgery. Carly is a godsend!!! I am so grateful for this journey to recovery I am on with her. I go twice a week to meet with her and every time I leave I feel a little lighter. My process is a slow one due to the severity of my pain in recovery and she is so gentle with me. She is absolutely brilliant in her field and the way she handles me with care while also working to fix all of my "broken" parts is truly remarkable. If I had not come to Universus and started with this work I would be in excruciating pain still. My pain has significantly diminished and I do still have a long way to go to get my muscle back and be pain free but I am so confident I will get there with Carly's help. I look forward to my days that I meet with Carly. I wish I could go every day. I am trying to share enough with anyone who doesn't know where to go for their situation without sharing too much of my own personal details. I will say that I had colon resection surgery where part of my colon was removed so I had very serious surgery and I did not know that PT was something I should be looking into. That was never shared with me by my surgeon. My surgeon was brilliant and if I needed anything again I would definitely see him to fix me but it was not shared with me what recovery would be like and how hard and how long it would be. It was only by way of my pain management doctor Dr. Ocasio (also brilliant and you can read my review on his high tech office) that I see a physical therapist. Having been my own advocate for my health and recovery and taking my life back I was able to get here. I hope anyone who is suffering or having a hard time will consider meeting with the Universus team to see if it's the right for you. I am endlessly grateful and will continue to follow through with them until I am back to my old self however long that takes. This is my very first experience with a physical therapist and I think I got very lucky from what I hear from other people in other facilities. Basically, I hit the PT jackpot. Don't be discouraged if you're not fixed overnight. I learned patience with everything that's happened to me that brought me here and you can't rush. I hope my review helps someone who is looking to be their own advocate for their health and get back to their normal routines.

I sprained my ankle pretty badly on a trip outside the country in August 2021. Jehan (Gigi) and her staff were extremely helpful in bringing my ankle back to nearly full functioning. This was my first visit ever for physical therapy and I must say I learned a lot about what they do. The staff is very professional and caring in their approach to each patient. I noticed each patient received individual attention and many of the patients has serious issues like knee replacements or were recovering from strokes. This impressed me. I mentioned to Gigi that I was an avid hiker and she did a series of flexibility tests and noted I had a deficit in the that area. I completed a section hike of the Appalachian Trail through the Great Smokey Mountains (310 miles) just before the pandemic. You can be a strong hiker but overuse certain muscle groups to the detriment of overall flexibility. I learned a series of stretching exercises that have greatly improved by walking ability. The nice think about Physical Therapy is that you can take the "lessons learned" home with you and continue to practice your exercises. And don't forget to buy your leg stretching rope!

He is a caring therapist, and knows exactly what to do for TMJ. It did not take very long for me to feel better finally. He worked miracles for me as he got me out of pain, and with the exercises he taught me to do at home, I have been able to stay out of pain! What a relief!
