We appreciate that coach Janel and coach Jared ignited my son's passion in martial arts! Students love them! They not only have impressive skills in martial arts with numerous international championships, but also are fantastic coaches. They made the training challenging and yet fun, motivating students for continuous improvement to the next level. They also organized various team building events, like pizza parties, ice pop treat, volleyball games, to engage students. The coaches really care about individual students. They are very kind, willing to make extra efforts to help student's personal growth. They reach out to support and encourage students. My son became enthusiastic about martial arts. He takes every opportunity to attend the practices, and feels proud of the completion of each class where he overcomes new challenges. Through training, he made tremendous improvement on strength and flexibility. My son has participated in several demos and competitions. That's a great motivator for him to improve his skills and to strengthen self-confidence. Coach Jenny is very caring, always smiling and patient, checking out the perfect size of outfit and weapon for each student. She also took a lot of photos/videos of every event and thoughtfully organized them into one directory for each student, for a memorable experience. The team members also cheer up for each other like a big family. The coaches work with students of different levels and help them to strive for the best self. We recommended three new students from different families ranging from 7 years old to 13 years old to join the school, and they liked it! I thought it'd be helpful to spread the word to benefit more students who may be interested in martial arts.

He knows it's challenging, but he likes the challenge and enjoys when he ultimately succeeds. We go twice a week, and there is a fixed schedule for the month so you know what days of the week a class is offered for your child's level. And I want to make clear that the head instructor and owner, Master Yoon, is at every.single.class. He is the teacher. His sons help, and some of the older students also work as helpers. But Master Yoon is there every single day, every single class. He knows every child by name. He knows what they are capable of, and knows how to push them just a little bit farther each time. He is very serious, but also always laughs and jokes around with the kids. So they like him, but they know when he has put on his serious face and it's time to stop clowning around. And this is not a belt-mill. If you are not ready to test, you don't get to test. And even when you get to test for the next belt level, I have seen him fail kids that didn't perform well enough during testing. So there's no guarantee that you can just pay your way to black belt. Do I have any complaints? As you move up in belts, there are less options for class times. For "No belt to orange", a class is offered 5 days a week. For "Green to blue", it's just 3 times a week. So it gets a little harder to manage the schedule as your child advances. And Master Yoon speaks quickly, so a year in I still have trouble understanding him sometimes, and I think the kids do too, especially at first. I would highly recommend this place. And the way it works, you get a cheaper 6-week trial so you can see if it's a good fit for your kid.

Even though Mooshim is nowhere near where I live, I can tell you that this Taekwondo school is…read moreoutstanding. I met Master Amy several years ago while training at my local dojang. We became friendly and I know that her biggest passion in life is Taekwondo (OK...maybe a close second to her family! She does love them!). Master Amy has trained under multiple TKD Grandmasters and brings a refreshing perspective to the art: a perfect combination of traditional martial arts, fitness and sports acumen. Master Amy cares deeply about every one of her students and truly gets joy out of watching their growth and success. When covid shut everything down in March, I started training with her and her students online. She shifted gears and created asynchronous content for her students to access - but, more importantly, kept the flow of live classes going using zoom. Online-only classes continued until some of the restrictions started to lift. She is currently running hybrid classes so that she can address the needs of all. There are several students that are strictly online since they live in different parts of the US (even different time zones!). Since we're still at the height of the pandemic, all in-person participants require masks, temperature checks, hand sanitizer and substantial social distancing - so (in-person) class sizes are currently limited. Master Amy has taken all precautions - and then some - to ensure everyone's safety. She's been incredibly creative on how to teach nuanced techniques from a distance and will try anything to help bring her students along. If you're looking for a great way to get fit, have fun and learn an amazing, traditional martial art - check out Mooshim.

The space is bright, airy and clean with plenty of space for the kids to store their personal belongings during class. There is a seating area with tables so parents can watch and relax, or bring a laptop (free wifi!). The instructors, Amy and Tessin, pay attention to each individual kid, making sure they use proper form and that they understand why it's done that way. It was really cool to see how things just clicked with my kids when the instructors took the time to explain things. My kids are always so proud of their achievements at the end of class, and they feel confident that they will know how to protect themselves from the "bad guys" (a very big concern for all 6 year olds!) But this place isn't just for kids! There are tae kwon do classes for adults, and conditioning classes as well. The drop in rate for the conditioning class is very reasonable for anyone who can't commit to a full schedule. And the class was actually fun! It's non-stop the whole time, but there is such variation in the drills and exercises that it never felt boring. I felt like I was being pushed to do my best, but it was never intimidating. I highly recommend the class to anyone who wants a great workout but needs a little support or a break from the monotony of the gym.

While the box is fairly large, perhaps having smaller (yet more frequent) groups would allow the coaches to have a possibility to look after each athlete more carefully, ensuring the movement is correct and there's no risk of injury. With nearly 20 people on class that's virtually impossible... Another thing I missed-no cool-down after WOD..? My body is still hyper sensitive 3 days after the workout, whereas in my former club the whole group would do some mobility/stretching excercises in the end,to avoid sore muscles the day after. Sure, you get some time prior to the next class,to stay and stretch by yourself, but doing it all together with some supervision would surely benefit everyone. Last but not least-I find that it's important to ensure tidyness and cleanliness by providing some antibacterial spray and wiping cloths,to clean the weights after each person has used it for working out. I didn't notice any, whereas elsewhere we'd be forced into numerous burpees if someone would forget to clean after himself/herself. And yes, finally, the prices-we all know Crossfit isn't cheap, but anything beyond 200$ and still limiting you to 4 times per week? Or 300+ for unlimited membership, still binding you for at least 1 year? Thank you,but I'll have to look elsewhere...
