Dope lounge I found while visiting the area. Humidor is massive and they got good sticks!! Lots of favorites I enjoy but I smoked my favorite stick of all time. Plasencia is my forever favorite because someone got it for me as a gift once & it turned out to be the best cigar I'd ever smoked. This place has a dope lounge with full bar! Absolutely plenty of seating and chill vibe that I expect at cigar lounges. It's a gentlemen's hangout and of course ladies as well. I totally recommend especially if you're from out of town like me. Dope spot, dope lounge, dope selection, dope people & dope prices! I spent three hours playing chess with a local. Freaking fantastic time here. read more

So nice to come enjoy the US Open in the middle of the day when it is not crowded. Found a nice selection of cigars in their onsite humidor. The staff was very nice and knew a lot about cigars. I did purchase one that I did not have in my humidor. They were very nice about allowing me to enjoy what I brought with me from home. Ventilation seemed very adequate even though there were not many patrons in the place. I would like to see what it is like when it is busy. read more

This place is very welcoming. Great selection of sticks. I like that I can enjoy a few sticks have some drinks in a good environment. Great conversation with people that come to do the same as me. All the staff is super nice. I like that I can buy a stick and bring my own and sit in the bar. I have not bought a stale stick from them and I have been here three times already. Had my birthday party there this weekend. Party was great. DJ was great. Prices were great. Bartender was fantastic. Only thing is after talking to everyone ahead of time about having my party there, everyone was very supportive. They said I had a certain space, but one guy who claimed he was one of the owners told me I could not have the entire space and made me open it up to everyone. It still turned out great, but I just wish everyone was on the same page. I came there about 4 times before the party to make sure I had the space and called ahead to let them know we were coming, but that guy tainted my experience. In the end, we all had a great time, but I would not recommend this place for a party unless you get certain things in writing up front. read more

This is an excellent place to bring friends and family who are visiting the area. They are really knowledgeable about their cigars and dont try to upsell you or take advantage of you. The lounge is full of cool cats who come regularly to lounge on the leather chairs, play games, have a few drinks after work, watch sports, etc. Prices are reasonable, drinks are cheap, and the ladies are always welcome. Almost ompletely forgot to mention the NEW FILTRATION system! Went last week with some friends and the next day my clothes barely smelled like smoke. Just a HUGE improvement over my last visit. They also installed fans to increase air circulation. Beats so many other cigar lounges. You can actually breathe! Only thing I'd recommend is installing a nice sound system for when the games arent on. read more

We visited this place while on the DC Cigar Tweetup. Being the last stop of the tour meant that everyone was a little tired I think and to be honest I wasn't up for smoking anymore at that point. So I'll try to put that aside in this review. The place was really nice. Everything in it was new. The humidor was slightly too large for the stock they had but I think they'll grow into it. This was the first place I saw a real professional humidifier. I was worried by the humidity landing on some cigars across from it, but they were all cello-wrapped - I'm imaging that was intentional and that they wouldn't put unwrapped ones there. The back lounge was large with a bar in it, lots of TVs, a semi-private area, lots of couches, and humidor lockers. The door needed a passcard swiped to enter. For a while a gentleman tried to control the flow in and out of there but that just seemed a bit awkward in that scenario. The owners didn't really come around to see how we were doing or talk to us in the humidor. I felt a bit like a squatter in there. But a different day, a different time, this seems like a great place to be. I talked to some of the locals that were there and they seemed to really like it as well. read more

Tucked away in a clean and not overly large strip of stores in a wooded knoll in Gambrills, Aphelion looks deceiving from the outside. However, as soon as you enter, you'll be greeted warmly by both staff and customers alike. The well stocked and expertly maintained walk-in humidor is to the right -- you'll find more than a handful of sticks that you either haven't tried (but want to) and your old standbys in here. I can't compliment the fine selection and wide range of cigars they keep in stock. One of the staff was nice enough to give me a tour of the smoke lounge my first time here. Needless to say, I was blown away. The lounge is huge, nicely furnished, diverse and friendly crowd, a stocked bar area (BYOB but they have soft drinks available for a small donation), and flat screen televisions. Most importantly, the lounge also has large and clean restrooms available as well. There is also an elite club room available to members. If you are new or an old hat at cigar and pipe smoking, I highly recommend visiting Aphelion. I've been to 44 States and dozens of smoke shops across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and Aphelion is one of my favorites. It was first recommended to me by a fellow cigar smoker and I am really glad that I paid a visit, I've been back many times already, and will continue to visit regularly. This was my first time here and I will definitely come back, even though it's a drive from my house. The gentleman up front was helpful with a beginner like me. After he helped me choose a cigar and I paid for it, I went into the lounge in the back. Plenty of seating and there's a bar there that provides glasses and ice for your BYO drinks. The ventilation seemed adequate since it wasn't cloudy in there which I've heard wasn't the case with another cigar lounge nearby that's now closed. I saw that there were cabinets along the wall that I guess ppl rent which allows them to keep cigars there. There are some cafe tables and some couches with low tables. There's also a section that's curtained off that I think is the VIP section. Other customers that walked by us greeted us as if we were all in the same club or something like that. Can't wait to head back and try some other cigars. read more

I came here a few times and really enjoyed the people up front that are very helpful. If you are just trying out Cigars, Moe and the owners are the ones to talk to. They will patiently assist you in finding the cigar(s) that's right for you. I came here several times and the atmosphere is relaxed and the other patrons are friendly. As you're walking through, picking out your seat, everyone greets you. I'm not use to that in the DC area. The BYOB policy is why this is a private club. Admission is the price of a cigar or club membership. Each member is given a key fob that allows access to the cigar lounge. The experience here has been so great that I bought a membership so that I can come relax whenever I want. They have different levels (tiers) of membership so that you can choose what size box or whether you prefer to smoke in the relative privacy or the executive lounge. The owners are great guys. They greet everyone and make sure that everything is going well. After coming there a few times they had remembered my name, which was something else I liked. They did a great job in making sure that their humidor is well stocked and kept in pristine condition, along with the extensive cigar selection. The ONLY drawback has been that the air handlers get overwhelmed when they have a full house. Otherwise, I would have given them the five stars. Trust me, they are not far off. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxed, casual atmosphere to enjoy a cigar. read more

What a fantastic lounge. Basically non-members have to buy a cigar (per person in the group) in order to use the lounge but it's absolutely wonderful. Great colors, a bunch of TVs, live entertainment, sports, and can you believe it's BYOB? The cigar selection is amazing and I truly love that they're always getting the newest cigars in. The staff are friendly and extremely knowledgeable about their product. I can't stress enough how huge the cigar selection is, a lot of rare/hard to find cigars like Liga Privada and high end Padrons, Cohibas, Ashtons, they have it all. I wish they had Tatuajes but they have everything else I love. The back is beautiful, very nice leather furniture, high tops, a beautiful marble bar, and really nice TVs. The sound system is fantastic too. 10/10 would smoke here again. read more

Since I don't really smoke he pointed me to a milder cigar that I ended up really liking. There is a DJ there on Fridays and the atmosphere and the people are great. Owned by two really nice gentlemen that take pride in there establishment. The crowd is nice especially on Friday's when they have DJ's. Plenty of TV's to watch your favorite sports teams. Price gouging on the cigars and the environment is less than professional or relaxing. Place is loud, rambunctious and full of gossip. I highly suggest elsewhere to shop and lounge as you will be sorely disappointed. Staff is less than knowledgeable on cigars and compared to the tinderbox prices are anywhere between 3 to 7 dollars above retail. Totally unsatisfactory and unsatisfied as a customer and consumer. Aphelion is a great spot to unwind after a long day or a long week. Drink, smoke, listen to music or socialize, Outside food is allowed as well as outside liquor. There is a $10 cover or simply buy a cigar from their large cigar collection. They don't have a license to sell liquor but have free beer and drink mixers that people customarily tip for the service.
