Based on all the mailings I get from Boy's Town with full size calendars, pocket calendars,…read moregloves, socks, Christmas cards, etc I have never been moved to donate to them. All that "wasted postage and advertising" made me think the overhead for the charity had to be too much. I would rather donate to a charity that the majority of the donation goes to the actual cause. Prior to my review I would have given them a one or two star rating. I changed my mind somewhat after reading reviews for people that have visited Boy's Town. I learned that the organization has grown to include girls so the name Boy's Town is a little inaccurate. People that have visited first hand are quite impressed and usually give it a five star rating. I'm relieved that the organization serves a population that needs its care. I have adjusted my initial review with an additional star because the charity is obviously good. I still have to deduct two stars because the fund raising campaign goes overboard with mailing trinkets in hope of a donation. I'd rather they save their money and just tell the story of the history of Boy's Town. I actually made a donation not prior to Christmas because of the junk I received but instead I was inspired by Googling Boy's Town and learning from people that had visited there.
