[[HIGHLIGHT]]Really wonderful acoustics here, the Holland was beautifully designed for optimal concert experiences.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came recently to experience Omaha Symphony + guest conductor Christopher Allen + guest violinist Francisco Fullana play Johann Strauss II, Montgomery, and Stravinsky's Firebird. There was an "after party" where we were able to stay to listen to Christopher Allen on the piano and Fullana on the violin play a few pieces. I'm glad we stayed to experience it! There's a large area on the second floor where tables and chairs are set up for conversations and presentations. The check in and security was smooth and simple, they have metal detectors which I appreciate for safety. We had lots of help from the patrons to help us find our seats. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My husband surprised me with 2nd row seats for the show, it was amazing being that close to the performance![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The drinks were just okay. I wanted a coffee at intermission and when I asked what coffee they serve, she said "decaf," which is as a little annoying. I want to stay awake which is the purpose of coffee, and I still don't know if it's a good coffee or simple Folgers. We opted to share a glass of Chardonnay, served in a plastic cup with a lid. It felt like I was a toddler sipping from the cup, so I probably wouldn't get a drink to have during a presentation again. read more

It is known as the home of Omaha's symphony, but it hosts a wide variety of performances - truly something for everyone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Check out the Omaha Performing Arts website for information about shows here and at the other OPA venues (the Steelhouse and the Orpheum Theater), I have been here for so many events, but the thing that prompted me to write this review wasn't an actual performance. We (the Old Market Association) were given a tour of the venue - on the stage and in the dressing rooms. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In the empty hall, we could really hear how amazing the acoustics are, and could see how the architecture was designed to accomplish this.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the dressing rooms - which I had never thought about, are beautiful as well as practical.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We could see how a touring act would appreciate the thoughtfulness here, and obviously that's going to make a difference to people - to know the respect performers are given.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is truly a special place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A night at the Holland Center is always a treat, but this time, I got the front-row experience for The Omaha Symphony Plays the Music of Green Day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Let me tell you, as someone who usually ends up stuck behind the tallest person in the room (probably wearing a top hat), sitting Orchestra A, dead center, was a game-changer. We started the night with a quick stop at the bar--nothing too fancy, just a house margarita and a Captain & Coke. The drinks weren't cheap (hello, $26 for two), but at least the pours were generous. Gotta love a theater that doesn't skimp! Now, let's talk about a brief moment of seat confusion. The tickets made it look like we were not seated together due to different entrances, and the ushers seemed very concerned. After a quick detour to the help desk to talk to Steve (bonus steps!), we confirmed that we were sitting right next to each other--just caught in a weird quirk. No harm, no foul. Then, the show started--and wow. The symphony fused classical elegance with Green Day's rebellious energy in a way that mostly worked. Some of the heavier drum-and-guitar moments did overpower the orchestra, but let's be honest--it's rock; what did we expect? Where the symphony truly shined was on 21 Guns and Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). Stunning. It is the kind of performance that gives you chills. Final thoughts? Bravo, Omaha Symphony. Absolutly love this place. The bottom entrance has a few spots for food and drink. They normally have a variety of little snacks in clear cups and the pricing is very good. They typically have a few types of wine but other than that your usual mid to high end liquors. I have never had anything but top notch help from the staff if anything is needed. The building itself is very pleasing to walk around and take in. There is alot of seating in a variety of setups so you can sit down and meet new friends! Plenty of very clean bathrooms on each floor if needed. Most views once in the seating area are quite nice. I do like getting seats on the upper tier along the sides and its like your own theator since it is only a few rows deep in those sections. read more

I believe there might be three levels but not real sure, and there are tons of stairs. I'm sure there are elevators as well. I saw David Sedaris there. It's a very nice building. I was a little confused on where to go, but an usher helped me out. I was winded going up all those stairs. My fault. Elevator was packed and I didn't feel like waiting. Sound quality was great. Be prepared to walk blocks from where you park. read more

Attended her for the annual Christmas Concert and was amazed by the performances, atmosphere and architecture. The orchestra hall sits on a separate foundation from the surrounding foundation as to not allow street vibrations to affect the sound quality inside the hall, which is amazing. There is no bad seat in the house (I should know, I bought the cheap seats). Definitely recommend looking at the show schedule and buying tickets early (ticketOmaha). Both shows I've seen here were full or nearly full, so if it's a performance you're interested in...buy them early, the hall is not overly large. Get there early and have a drink at the bar and enjoy the architecture! read more

FANTASTIC! We were privileged to be gifted two tickets to see Monterey Jazz Festival perform. (Thanks Yelp Elite!) Wow what a show! Neither of us had ever been inside the Holland before and maybe I'm just uncultured but I found it awe inspiring. Everyone who helped us from the ticket counter, to the bar, the ticket checkers, and even the elevator lady; they were all very polite and nice. You could tell they really did enjoy their jobs which is always a plus. We were sitting in orchestra 3, row W seats 116/117 and the view was perfect. It's a smaller venue and I honestly think any seat in here would be good. The acoustics were spot on and the lights were well controlled and not over powering. If I had ONE gripe I think the sound guy could have controlled things better, but he could have been having an off night. We walked here, but street parking is available even if you have to park a few blocks down. Costs $1.25/hr as of when I'm posting this M-Sat 9am-9pm. There was also a $15 valet parking lot next to the theater and I think a cheaper $10 lot down the street. Overall we had an absolute blast tonight and we're already planning our next trip here wondering why we've been so uncultured. Who knows, but we plan to change that! read more

Several 4-top tables (I requested 4 of us together) sat empty while we were stuck in the balcony a floor up from the women's restroom, serving ourselves from a bar a floor down as well. The Holland is a beautiful building with state of the art acoustics. I love attending the symphony there. Most recently I attended their annual Christmas Symphony. A fun event to kick off the season with dancing and singing. They have good precautions in place. They've gotten rid of paper programs for the time being but they're available online. Masks are required at all times and there is plenty of sanitizer. I appreciate getting to experience live performances again in away that makes me feel safe. They have several bar areas where you can get wine, beer, spirits, and small snack items which you can take into the venue. They also have a restaurant that I plan to try soon. read more

Excellent and beautifully built music venue. The sound and acoustics are amazing, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. My most recent visit was to see Buddy Guy and it was an excellent show. There is plenty of street, garage and valet parking available. They do have a restaurant onsite, but I have never been. The building itself is updated and keeps getting better and better. The ticket prices are a mixed bag of prices but they always seem pretty reasonable. We are really enjoying the Holland and all it has to offer. the main hall itself is just perfect in sound and visuals. We have not found a bad area and the seats themselves are super comfortable. We love the full bar that is right there next to the doors. prices are pretty affordable as well and there is always room The 1200 club is fabulous but I dont see a spot for that specifically in yelp as its own place, although it is still in the holland its its own room and venue. If you have not been you should for sure find a show at the 1200 and attend. No specified seating but little tables. Show up at least 1 hour before and get service. The food is good and affordable. The meat and cheese plate is tasty and I think only like $8. They also offer pork sliders I have yet to try. Plus full bar and table service. read more

When The Holland center first opened I wondered why we needed yet another venue downtown and truthfully, I thought it was kind of ugly. Since then I've come to really appreciate it and look forward to attending events there. Kiewit Hall seats 2000 people and I always prefer a smaller more intimate space than say, The CenturyLink Center. I have gone to a Gross High graduation there and heard Anthony Bourdain and David Sedaris speak. I've also seen Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Lyle Lovett and His Large Band in concert. There is not really a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are fabulous. The seats are comfortable and I actually find the surroundings very attractive now. As far as parking, I typically go early (after work time) and park near the Gene Leahy Mall, then eat in the Old Market and walk across the bridge to the show. I've never had a problem leaving either. If I can afford it, I would love to see Loretta Lynn perform there this August! read more

Went here for Hassan Minhaj's performance. Not first time here, but this time seemed just more magical. Sat in the box seats along the side, great view and feels almost secluded. Great sound. Only issue for the night was the having to put away phone into a locked container. I have no issues with that, just the coordination of before--a back up of people and not much info provided, just a "do it now", and then after, I beat tracks to get out to get it unlocked and glad I did--there was ONE person unlocking on the third floor. EEEK. I was fourth in line and got out fast, but there was a lot of grumbling behind me. I'd suggest multiple unlocks on each level in the future. I didn't get to experience the food or beverage because I forgot to get my card out of my phone holder before it was locked away. Lastly, I did have to get an usher to get the patrons next to me to follow the masking rules and he did and he was so nice about it to both me and them about it. Wow, what a room! Broad vistas, good seating (a little tight - not much leg room), and good views for everyone in attendance. We went to see the Branford Marsalis Quartet concert, and the room just carried the music so well, it was amazing. The amplification picked up all 4 instruments being played, and projected them well throughout the venue. We were on the second 'Tier" of viewing, but the room is so intimate that you could pretty much see what was going on from anywhere in the room It was just a good room to listen to music. The organization uses scanners to check your tickets, which makes it fast and easy. read more

I had come up to Omaha to attend a wedding and the reception was here at the holland. The service was a joke. The shrewd "high school dance moderators" were incredibly rude to numerous people. I would not attend another event here if I was dragged. There were 4 ladies that acted like they had a stick up their rear ends. The drinks were incredibly expensive and they were taking them away before we had finished them while we were dancing to the wedding music. Also I felt like I was being judged and profiled the entire night I was there. Absolutely ridiculous and unwarranted! I hope this helps numerous people choose a different venue. read more

The Holland, which opened in fall of 2005, is a fantastic building with unique architecture, modern but warm interior finishes, and a concert hall that any musician would appreciate. I attended my first show/event in the space last night and had ample time to appreciate all the details of the space - both grandiose and smaller scale. Next time I'll make a reservation at the on-premises full service restaurant 'Zinc', which opens 2 hours prior to showtime. read more

This was a great venue to see a musical show over the weekend. The staff were friendly upon arrival and helped those who needed assistance with finding their seats. Their restaurant wasn't fully staffed...so they said and we weren't allowed to have dessert due to lacking a reservation but there were empty seats and tables. The sound system was well placed and the audio was very clear. It was very obvious that the stairs aren't very helpful for those elderly patrons who have ambulatory issues which was sad to see. If you decide to come in on a cold day, make sure you bring your Starbucks with you. The coffee served is not very good, reminds me of the regular Folger's brand for a charge of three dollars. Street parking is easy to find and there is no cost on Sundays. To the grandmother who sat behind us...please leave your 3 year old grandson with a babysitter next time. It's tough to enjoy the show when your grandson is kicking at the back of my seat and apparently you don't want to correct his behavior since you want to be the the enabler, which led to me turning around and giving you a dirty look. Leave small children at home where they won't disturb those who want to enjoy a great show without being disturbed by unruly children. read more

Very impressive Omaha! My family and I have enjoyed two performances at the Holland Performing Arts Center and both have been beautiful. The center is very accessible, the halls have been designed well, the acoustics is good, the seating arrangements are comfortable, it is well maintained and well organized. The friendly staff is always an added bonus for me; I enjoy dealing with friendly people. I am used to the cream of the crops in Manhattan and see the best performers from around the world at the Metropolitan Opera, etc. but the choir (Voices of Omaha) gave me chills; they have angelic voices and performed so beautifully. What an amazing choir; you need to hear them for yourself to know what I am talking about. The performance was free; what a great present to the classical music lovers of Omaha. One word of caution; give a few minutes extra for parking as the nearest garage is a couple of blocks away. read more

Beautiful, amazing, venue in downtown Omaha. We did not have an issue with parking as we came down early and had dinner at one of the many wonderful restaurants. So, we just parked once went to dinner, and then walked to the show. Perfect! The location couldn't be better for this. The seating inside is such that there is not a bad seat in the house. We are so excited to come back for many more shows in the future!! read more
