My 16 year old senior beagle had to have emergency surgery for a tumor on his urethea, transitional cell carcinoma. It was a major operation, risky and a difficult decision based on my dog's age and sensitivity to anesthesia. Customer service sucks! Receptionist doesn't know what's going on with appts . This vet facility has no compassion with working dog owners at all. They can't even give you an advise they just want you to bring in your dog . No exceptions at all but I made an exception when one of their vets doesn't speak English at all when he treated my dog. I just trusted them that everything is good! All I need is a simple advise until they see my dog the following week. They just want your $$ !!! Not a fan of this place at all! read more

Not sure what's been going on at this vet lately. Been taking my pups here for a few years now before the renovation. The staff was friendly and visits with the vet were good. The prices were reasonable. Now, post-renovation, they've hired a few new vets with little communication skills (texting and not calling when I specifically requested a phone call to go over important test results). Had to drive up to the office to get a live person to go over my dog's results. I've had to drag information out of the last doctors we saw as they seemed in a rush. Last visit was for one of my pup's annual exams and the total was quoted at over $400!! Declined a few of the services for a later date and the vet tried to upsell me 3 times in 45 minutes! She conducted my pup's annual exam (which took all of 5 mins) and walked out of the room promptly. The vet tech came back in the room and I asked if everything was ok with her annual exam. She replied, well the doctor didn't say anything so your dog is all good. What kind of communication is that. Like I said, I have to pull important information out of them. I'm highly disappointed and I feel like this office is following a new upsell framework for their business and removed the 'small-vet' feel that I appreciated so much. Guess they have a reno to pay for! Advice, I realize the vet can be pricey, but something is really off here, so pay attention to your bills and question the new doctors. I drive more than an hour from Clearwater to go here. The vets know their stuff and give great info on what is going on and what to expect. Courtney the tech is fantastic. My dog, who is picky and very anxious at the vet, adores her. She took the time and put in the effort to figure out how to handle my dog. Courtnet managed to give her shots with a minimum of drama! The vets are great but Courtney is the reason I bring my dog here. She really has a talent with animals! It's been great for my stress level and anxieties about my doggie! read more

We were frantic.?They immediately provided an appointment, treatment and excellent referrals. Thanks to their expert, urgent intervention she has made a full recovery. So... We have been extremely loyal to Apollo Beach Animal Hospital since 2011. Previous care, attentiveness and compassion for our Australian Shepherd and Australian Cattle Dog could only be described as superb. Price point for services and supplies has been high, but this is Florida (their price point WAS about 40% less than a larger veterinary clinic located in tomato city a few miles to the South...). But... (there inevitably usually is a "but") On our last and FINAL visit to the veterinary clinic that we have loyally visited for the past 10 YEARS, we made a swift decision to never return again for the following reasons: 1. Timing of our visit was just prior to COVID-19 fully impacting the state of Florida. In all previous visits, we went back into the examining room when the vets and orderlies treated our dogs. We believe this has been common practice because pets spend most of their time with their owners, and this calms the pet when procedures are being done. This also happened on this occasion, BUT the veterinarian also brought three orderlies into the 10 ft. x 10 ft. x 8 ft. examining room, making social distancing impossible. 2. In the handling of both animals, the orderlies held the dogs in such a way that they cried out in pain from the choke holds the staff exerted on them. (The Australian Shepherd in particular, had his breathing cut off due to the tightness of the hold around his neck.) This NEVER HAPPENED in all of our previous visits in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 (the previous 9 of 10 years of our customer loyalty to this business). Furthermore, on ALL PREVIOUS VISITS, the staff encouraged us to hold our dogs, due to the implied trust that a pet has towards its master. Perhaps the staff were intimidated by the 67 pound gentle Australian Shepherd and the 56 pound Australian Cattle Dog on this visit, but having the master do the holding as has been the case in the past seems to be an easy remedy to those fears... 3. The servicing veterinarian was new to us -- we had never seen her before. When the veterinarian attempted to take a blood sample from our Australian Shepherd, she pushed the plunger of the syringe in and out while attempting to draw blood. It also appeared that as she was doing this, she also was physically drawing the needle in and out. Perhaps the vein was rolling and it was difficult to get a sample, but we had valid concerns that she might introduce air into our dog's blood, perhaps creating a situation similar to "the bends" that cause divers to have painful deaths when they surface too fast. 4. We declined a fecal test and the business charged us anyway. (We noted this in another review of this service provider, leading us to believe this is a common practice.) 5. When we called to follow up/reschedule a new appointment, the person answering the phone informed us the recent servicing veterinarian did not work there anymore. She also stated that for future visits they would take our dogs back to the examining rooms and would not let us accompany them. I go back to my point #2 -- the one thing a pet trusts is his/her good master -- removing the master from the examining room during routine procedures increases the animal's stress and agitation, potentially causing the staff to exert more force or even cruelty on the animal. 6. Finally -- we used to live in Apollo Beach, but are now in Brandon. Why the heck would we drive that far to have someone despise our fur babies? Yup -- we will find a more caring vet in Brandon -- NOW! Given our direct physical observations of Apollo Beach Animal Hospital staff's treatment of our pets during this recent routine visit, we strongly believe our best course of action is to be grateful for 9 years of 10 compassionate care. We will try, but find it impossible to forget the apathetic, uncaring, and perhaps even cruel handling of our loyal canine companions during this LAST EVER VISIT TO APOLLO BEACH ANIMAL HOSPITAL. They were not patient with my dog during my last visit. Waited 2 hours to be seen when I had an appointment. By the time they got to my dogs they rushed to put a thermometer and my dog could sense the bad energy and had a negative experience. I work with animals for a living and you know dogs read energy. They should have rescheduled my appointment if they were that far behind and in such a rush. It was a terrible experience for just annual shots and they tried to say my dog was aggressive. Absolutely not. He was reacting to an unprofessional experience with a vet trying to quickly shove a thermometer up his behind instead of gaining the dogs trust first. They have aggressive plastered in bold on his vet records and really isn't a fair representation of my dog. He's never been aggressive in any public or private setting and the least the office can do is remove their internal note as I do not have any aggressive instances documented within Hillsborough County. I have to submit the document to my apartment and this makes my dog look absolutely terrible and unfit to no fault of his own. They can keep their internal note but I request a copy with just the shot records. I paid $200 per dog for JUST shots. $600 for a crappy experience. The annual shot pricing is far from the norm. Save money and look for low cost. Animal professional to animal professional never approach a dog from above them to insert a thermometer. Always approach at level, give treats, gain trust. The staff did not do that during our visit in September which is why they have an internal note included reminding them to do so. read more

I love this place and ALL THE wonderful people that work there. I was having an issue with my cat and they were a vet to my baby and therapists to me. When I tell you I broke all the way down, I did. The staff was there to make sure I knew what was going on. And answered every question I had. Not to mention they got me in with out an appt at dang near closing time. I had to take my cat to another place for over night care. But they made sure to do all the preform so it would be cheaper for me. I love this place. I have been taking all of my Dogs to Apollo Beach Animal Hospital for YEARS. I have religiously paid HUNDREDS upon HUNDREDS of dollars EVERY year, for their Wellness Exams and Vaccinations. Yesterday, I actually NEEDED them, because both my Dogs were in REAL pain and suffering, from a bug or something they got while being boarded. They both had blood in their vomit, and bloody diarrhea, and would not eat, drink, or sleep. I called Apollo Beach Animal Hospital, and they REFUSED to see us!!! They are just fine with accepting my money for routine appointments at their convenience, but when it comes to a serious NEED, they couldn't care less! I felt betrayed, and I will NEVER use them again. I would recommend the same, for the rest of you. read more

Horrible horrible horrible!!! First thing was they didn't test my dog fecal when they took a sample and charged me. He had to go back for more meds because he was so sick. I finally took him to another vet just to find out Apollo Animal didn't even test him!! They didn't help him at all!! Also went there to see if they had a waiver for certain vaccine since it nearly killed my dog last time he had one. They didn't even do waivers!! I found another vet who went through the county and state and got one for him to Exempt from it. I will never come back here or refer them to anyone else again!!! read more

I have been taking my dogs for several years to ABAH and I love Dr. Diana and the staff! The staff are all very friendly and caring. They always greet us with a smile. I can easily get convenient appointments and they are very accommodating. I've got to many different vets and I wouldn't go anywhere else in Apollo Beach. Recently one of my older dogs was very sick and we discovered she had cancer. Dr. Diana was so helpful in answering all of my questions and supporting the decisions I was making. I wouldn't have been able to go through it without her guidance. It made a difficult process more manageable. I couldn't recommend them any higher. read more

Took our dogs Bonnie,a small cairn terrier and Marley,a large mixed breed to have vaccinations and some other shots and found out Marley,who I had adopted at 9 months of age,has hook worms which were treated and I was given 10 pills to be given 5 and 5 over a two week time period.I had taken Marley to Dr. Wallace and he gave them both vaccinations in May of 2017,while Marley was taken in for a check up and to have a very,very bad cold treated,which she had when I first adopted her. I learned she might be put down for health and behavior issues and instantly knew I had to save her.I wonder why the first vet didn't do a fecal,more so than Dr. Wallace who does mostly vaccinations out of a mobile unit.However due to both Vets being booked I was taken in immediately here and couldn't be happier and neither could the dogs.Marley vomited the next day,but considering all the needles and medications,I wasn't very worried and she's back to her ,loving self.Bonnioe will have a deep teeth cleaning next month and I have a new and permanent Vet. read more

Also, they didn't even look at my dogs rash even though I told them multiple times where the location was. I told trust there opinions at ALL. I'm taking my dog to a new vet. Stay away. No wait time because no one goes here. My dog had a glucose level of 40 and no one bothered to tell me how serious this was. Charged me $145 for a yearly checkup 2 months later with no concern of glucose levels. Never retuned call after seizure episode!! Rude front office staff. By the way my dog died 2 weeks after her yearly check up. Had to go to emergency clinic who diagnosed her with insulinoma which is a tumor that produces excess insulin. My dog wouldn't have been saved but she sure could have gotten proper treatment to make her remaining time a little longer and less traumatic for her. Worst experience ever. read more
