Our girl Karma became so ill so quickly with no support from her regular vet. We chose this place because we were able to stay with her throughout everything. This means so much to us. We had never let our girl stay at home alone ever. If we went, she went. She was our daughter, still is. It was time for immediate action. I knew her numbers were not good and we walked in greeted and sorted to the absolute fullest by every member of the staff. They brought us and our girl back immediately. Dr Moses knew she couldn't stand and picked her up without hesitation to weigh her. They drew blood and started IV access right away. I told Dr Moses I needed to know every option available because if I could save her, we would do anything. I said I need honesty in every aspect, no matter the outcome. Her bloodwork came back after they had settled us into a private room with our girl, Karma. I saw the numbers she had in her hand. She didn't even need to explain. I had no idea how our amazing baby held on so long. She did it for us to be ready. My husband said he would never put our girl down and was adamant about it since we found her. There is something about Dr Moses that is real, raw, and beautiful. You could feel her energy and her sorrow for us without having to speak. I've never seen my husband understand so quickly what needed to be done. I told him it's painless. Dr Moses stepped in and explained it beautifully. She told us to take as much time as we needed and to push the button when we were ready. No rushing. A beautiful time spent with our baby telling her she was the greatest thing to ever happen to us. That she fought so hard. She taught us so many life lessons. That love is god mode. I told my husband we needed to act somewhat quickly before any seizures could begin. We pressed the button and she came right in with the medications and told us we can stay right where we were on the floor with our girl. She worked around us and so quickly our baby was no longer suffering. I thought this would be the moment I shattered, my husband would lose his mind. We didn't. She was sleeping, but gone. I felt her looking at us from the door giving us the biggest blanket of love we have ever felt. She told us to take as much time as we needed. Literally. Throughout this process, every single member of the team from the front of the house, techs, and our angel sent Dr Moses all spoke calm and could feel our pain and honestly they felt it too. They all said they were so sorry and offered any kind of relief. I work CVICU. I see a lot of death and we try to become almost cold towards it but we still feel every single death. VEG ER in South Tampa is filled with empaths. Burnout is real. My husband and I are so thankful and grateful for every single member of the team. Dr Moses, there is something so beautiful inside of you. I don't know if you had trauma as a child. I feel you need to know you are seen. You are loved. You are cherished. We will be forever grateful for your honesty, your compassion, your sense of empathy towards our situation. You now hold such a huge part of our souls. We are eternally grateful for what you do. We have broken down a few times just knowing Karma is no longer here in physical form but as soon as we got to the car to leave, we heard her adorable "heyyy" that she used to do when she was always the happiest. I brought him in at 6pm and they ran some tests gave him some meds and put him in a kennel. Last thing the doctor told me was that "no news was good news" At around 12 midnight I get a call saying my dogs heart had stopped and if they wanted me to perform CPR I rush to their location to find my dog dead on their table and them performing CPR After they pronounced him deceased I got a rundown of the nightly events. At 11pm they took him out of the kennel to check on him and in their notes it said "he was unable to walk anymore". I was livid after reading this because why didn't these idiots call me to let me know my dog was in bad shape Instead they put him back into his kennel to die alone and WITHOUT a heart monitor. So from 11 to 1230 there's was no telling how long he was dead for before they found him. On top of that they charged me extra to perform "life saving cpr". These crooks need to be investigated. Unlike many other vets your pet will be treated with you at their side which is so important for both your dog and you. They are quick to keep you updated on progress and what will be happening next. During her examination, she also identified fluid in Joy's uterus, raising concern for pyometra. For those unfamiliar, pyometra is a life threatening uterine infection that can lead to sepsis, organ failure, and sudden death if not treated promptly. I will be honest. Given how frequently "lifestyle treatments" are pushed in veterinary medicine today, I was cautious and protective. We were worried about both the severity of the diagnosis and the cost and risks of surgery. I also considered seeking a second opinion. Dr. Davison did not rush us. She walked us through every step, from bloodwork to ultrasound findings, explaining what she was seeing and why it mattered. She earned our trust gradually and professionally. When we made the decision to operate, her attention to detail stood out. She avoided the large external stitches we have seen in the past, and when prescribing medication, she remembered that I had mentioned Joy does not swallow pills and provided liquid medication instead. Those small considerations made a meaningful difference in her recovery. Further testing of Joy's uterus after surgery confirmed tumors. Removing them likely prevented a catastrophic outcome. What began as a suspected allergic reaction became a life saving intervention. It has been a week, and Joy is steadily returning to her loving, spirited self. If it were not for Dr. Davison's thorough examination and clinical judgment, we might not have discovered the underlying condition in time. i took my dog here after she got into a scuffle with a friend's dog. she is TERRIFIED of the vet, she absolutely hates the vet, and she is anxious around other animals on the best of days. we were greeted immediately and brought into a private room to wait, because my dog was so nervous, and everybody that saw her was extremely kind and caring. we were in and out pretty quick and the treatment was cautiously conservative (no stitches yet for her bite, but lots of cleaning and flushing the wound). the experience was much better than it could've been for my dog and it was exactly what i had hoped it would be for myself! i'd had a couple of encounters with the clearwater veg location which were nothing short of wonderful, so i was extraordinarily happy that the same standard of care could be found at this other location. will forever recommend this brand to everyone i know. read more

If VEG is an emergency vet shouldn't they have protocols in place when you bring in a dog that has ingested an Aleve, which is toxic to animals to perform emergency procedures? VEG took over 2 hours to admit our dog though we had already waited for over an hour, despite my asking them to pump his stomach, they said it was probably too late for that. Yeah, it was, but had they done it when we arrived, it wouldn't have been too late. Why do they have to wait for ASPCA poison control to tell them how to treat? ASPCA took over an hour to respond to the vet and by then they could have done the minimal of pumping his stomach. Shouldn't they know what to do and begin doing it, not wait almost 3 hours. I don't know but it sounds logical that they should have procedures in place for all types of emergencies, hence they call themselves an emergency vet practice. G.H. is right. I will always regret going there with my dog. He died and I believe had he had his stomach pumped as soon as we got there he would still be alive. I can't even drive by their location without the sadness of what happened hit me. read more

I was charged $180, yet during the approximately hour I spent at the facility, no actual examination or hands-on care was provided. My dog was not placed on a table, touched, or physically assessed in any way, and there did not appear to be any urgency regarding her condition. After I declined the proposed $2,600 treatment plan, communication noticeably shifted, and I felt dismissed without a clear explanation or next steps. The only information provided was a general suggestion of cancer, without any diagnostic testing or confirmation.Additionally, I observed a situation that raised serious concerns. A dog in a cage had vomited on itself while wearing a cone, and despite multiple staff members being present, no one addressed it until it was brought to their attention. That moment made me question the level of attentiveness and care being provided. During my time there, I also overheard staff referencing ChatGPT and Google in their discussions, which further impacted my confidence in the professionalism of the environment.I later noticed notes associated with my visit that did not accurately reflect what occurred, which is also concerning. Overall, I left feeling confused about the $180 charge, especially since no examination or treatment appeared to take place, and I ultimately left without making a payment.I would strongly encourage clearer communication, more thorough and attentive care, accurate documentation, and greater transparency regarding services and billing. VEG is the best emergency practice I've found! I took my dog in for what turned out to be pancreatitis (most likely) and she very much does not like the vet. Although she is an extremely difficult patient, Dr. Thomas and Dr. Surdin took their time with her and helped me come up with multiple options for treatment. My dog fought the sedation the whole way through and they still did not give up on helping her. I wouldn't have blamed a soul for giving up but they never did. I also want to give a ginormous shoutout to the nurse, Liubov because she went above and beyond to make me and my pup as comfortable as possible and was a part of every test and needle there was (she even attempted to cut my dogs nails for me). Not only did they help tremendously while I was there but I also called them multiple times after her visit and were just as helpful. My only negative would be the price, but I think most can agree the price is justified when it comes to your pup. Thank you VEG team!! read more

Our 2 1/2 year old golden started bleeding profusely out of his front paw while playing at the park. Since it was after 6pm our primary vet office was closed and VEG was our next best option. I wrapped his paw in a bandage and they took us back immediately and got all of our info. I just have to say what an amazing staff VEG south Tampa has. Everybody treated our dog like he was theirs. I have to give a big shout out to Josh the vet tech that helped us. He explained everything he was doing and was so gentle with our hurting dog. If you are ever in need of an emergency vet, please don't hesitate to take your pet here. The doctor was also great. The open concept is a little different unlike traditional vet offices, but if it's emergency it doesn't really matter. on 12-31-25 my dog needed emergency surgery due to a ton of stones in his bladder and 1 large stone blocking his urethra. VEG couldnt do this surgery and with the holiday there weren't many surgeons around. Thankfully Dr Bill Peters kept calling to find a Dr who could perform this surgery and he found one at Harmony. I brought my dog Billie in because she was having some sort of allergic reaction. They had me seated and had 2 vets getting blood work and an ultrasound from my dog within 5 minutes of me arriving. My Jack Russell was exposed to a buffo cane toad poisoning and my husband and I rushed him to VEG. We were in a panic and called as we were driving and they were prepared for us in 9 minutes it took us to drive to them. They immediately started helping and comforting us, rushed us to the back asking questions about what happened. The entire team was communicative and extremely knowledgeable about our situation. They send all information to your primary care veterinarian and give detailed directions for medication upon returning home. These incredible angels on earth saved our precious boy and even identified other issues that we can now take care of with our primary vet. Can't recommend this place enough. My dog was having tummy troubles and they took her right in. I've taken her elsewhere for emergency vet services (you probably know where) and I had an awful experience where they tried to get ultrasounds/x rays right away for simple GI issues so I have my guard up at emergency vets. My dogs tend to get tummy issues so I have a general idea about what they need medicine/exam wise. But veterinary emergency group didn't try to do anything expensive and unnecessary. They did an exam, fecal sample and got me out with some meds in no time. Will def go back the next time my dog gets into something she shouldn't. read more

The staff at VEG are the most wonderful. What they did for my Neena (and for Cupcake prior) was really above and beyond. When staff comes in the room and drops down to sit on the floor next to you and your pet, it is so comforting. They are invested in your furbaby's care and comfort and yours. They are kind, compassionate and to be with your pet for the majority of your time there is great. You can visit or call about your pet as much as you want if it has an extended stay because, yes, they are 24 hour. There are not words to describe how grateful I am to the team at VEG for their compassion, their expert care, and above all, their generous kindness. After a harrowing ordeal, where my (senior) dog was lost in the middle of the night, he was found by the side of the road and suspected to have been hit by a car. The Good Samaritan, who rescued him, brought him to VEG, and their team did not hesitate to give him exceptional care, stabilizing him overnight and providing all the medical treatment he needed. They did this with no concern of payment, as Gatsby had note been "found" - but gave him such care, out of the goodness of their hearts. His overnight team, Dr. Gabos, Lexie and Brittany, took him in, ensured he had no internal injuries, stabilized him and made him comfortable with pain management. Kat, their wonderful receptionist, was responsible for getting Gatsby back home to me, posting his photo on a Facebook group and handled my hysterical call with ease. His morning team, led by Dr. Khan and Christopher, walked me through his diagnostics, bloodwork and aftercare - extending patience with my many questions. In this situation, where my worst nightmare could have come true, I would have happily paid any amount for Gatsby's better-than-expected outcome. However, given his intake, the VEG team would not accept payment for their work (despite my insistence). Instead, they kindly suggested I could pay their kindness forward by contributing to VEG's non-profit, which is set up to aid families who cannot afford essential care to still provide for their family. These days, it feels rare to be met with such generosity of spirit and kindness at every turn. To the Good Samaritan (who deserves her own million star review and thanks from me!) and the team at VEG, thank you for exemplifying the best of us. Thank you for your grace and reminder that people do act out of the goodness of their hearts and expect nothing in return. Took my 12.5 year old Pomeranian in with what ended up being a slipped disc. They started working on him right away and did an excellent job handling him since he can be a handful. I will say that it is ungodly expensive and you should pay attention to what they are prescribing. I almost ended up paying $120 for omeprozole, the exact same stuff you can get over the counter. At the end of the day I payed almost $2k for meds, X-rays, and blood work, but again the care was fast and professional, they really know their stuff over there, so I sucked it up and paid it. They also seem to jump to extreme measures, especially with an older dog, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I did follow up with my regular vet today and she was happy with the care plan they came up with. In an emergency I would definitely bring my dog here again. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars, they genuinely exist to take your money and not help your pet at all. We went in because our cat had eaten a sock and we were worried that she hadn't expelled it in some way. We told them explicitly that she had eaten food and they insisted that we needed to do multiple unnecessary things and do an Xray. They do the XRay, bring our cat back, and then come back 20 minutes later and said that because she'd eaten recently they couldn't see anything and we had to come back. After we told them she had just eaten. We walked out after spending $2,000 with nothing to show for it - a solution to come back and spend another $1,000. I tell everyone I know not to go here because they don't care about your pet. read more

When we had an emergency with our dog having weakness and seizures, we needed action sndd DDC ouf cet wax closed. They brought us right into the room filled with equipment, staff and kenneled dogs being monitored. We found a spot on the floor tending to the dog after triage. It was clearly a family affair and we weren't stuck in a waiting room wondering. After deciding to proceed with initial diagnostic, we then opted for overnight observations that they presented first. It wasn't cheap and we didn't feel pressured to sign up for the top end but instead they laid out the options. It looked similar for others and at info poing the place was pretty packed with little pods of humans with their pets. I completely agree with Teriann C's review. I wish we had never taken our pet there. The Veterinarain who took care of our dog, did not know what she was doing. I told her my pet had eaten well that morning, but was probably dehydrated as he had not drank much water. She still went ahead and gave him a diuretic. I dont think they had done all the diagnostic tests they said they were going to do, for her to establish a course of treatment that went all wrong... Soon enough they gave him a diuretic, my dog started to have signs of distress. Then the vet, said he was most likely having a stroke and suggested euthanasia. We paid 2000 dollars and in less than two hours, came out with him in a box. What a shame.. read more

They gave us a clean quiet private room and plenty of time to say our goodbyes. They helped make kitty as comfortable as possible in her final moments and didn't try to shame us for making this difficult decision or pressure us to do tests we can't afford. See everything being done to help your baby, as well as see the care given to all animals there. You get to calm and comfort your pet and talk with others who are there with their pets. My pet was pretty calm the entire time and he screams about everything. It was a calming experience, for an ER trip, that we humans helped to comfort each other as our pets receive care. And OMG... the staff.. they treat your pet like they are their family pet. From the call to VEG to the check out, it was amazing.
